Chapter 175: Outsmarting Everyone

Chapter 175: Outsmarting Everyone

The first course of action Lotus took after being confined to her room was to dismiss her maids with the excuse she had a headache and wanted to be left alone.

Once they were gone, closing the door behind them, she threw open her window and whistled twice with a slight interval between the first whistle and the second.

It was a way to communicate with the hawk shifter, he had been staying on the nearby trees in her garden, in case Lotus needed to send a message.

She tried to poke her hand out but the invisible barrier prevented her action. Her father had placed a restricting spell around her room so she wouldn’t be able to escape.

Hearing her call, he flew over and perched himself on her window sill.

Lotus promptly opened the window, letting him in. People could enter her room but she couldn’t leave.

Ironic how her father said that her life was in danger and placed a spell which wouldn’t let her leave, but anyone could enter. She had to force herself to not go up in hysterics.

"I want you to fly towards Volsra. Try to get as close to your Alpha as possible so you can send him a message through the mind link. Inform him to take Cassandra back to Dusartine once he rescues her, not come here."

The hawk shifter stared back at her with his big intelligent eyes and nodded his head, understanding everything she had said. The solemnity in her expression told him that something of grave magnitude had transpired and she was trying to keep them away.

From the open window, the hawk shifter spread his wings and flew away, disappearing into the cold night.

Lotus shut the window quietly, and then she began to put the rest of her plan into motion. Opening her cupboard she pulled out a long black cloak and put it on.

Then she pulled out a large satchel with magical space inside it. She could add tons of stuff into it without it getting heavier or filling up.

Lotus went on to add her clothes, the ones which were not very heavy and easier to wear, and her books; she couldn’t live without her books, some of her jewellery; a girl always had to look pretty, delicacies she kept in her room and some other essentials she thought would be necessary.

Adding every essential that she might need, she placed it around her shoulder, pulled the cloak low on her head and silently walked to her door.

Now, to dispel the spell cast on her door, which prevented her from escaping. She knew how to beat around his restricting spells.

He cast them to keep her contained not knowing she had mastered the potion to alter her body and scent. The ones she had prepared for Faris and Siroos and she had created extra, keeping them in the secret compartment of her drawers.

Grabbing the tiny vial, she removed the cork with a pop and raised it to her lips; soon, the contents were emptied in her throat. Her appearance began to change along with her scent.

Her light blonde hair shortened and took on a black hue. Her skin changed its tone as well to a much darker one.

Satisfied with the results, Lotus threw open her window again and tried to poke her hand out from the barrier. This time it passed right through without any hindrance.

A sly smile covered her soft, pinkish lips, and she clicked her tongue in amusement.

’So much for holding me back,’ she chuckled to herself and jumped out of the window and onto the soft soil of her vast garden that stretched beyond her window.

She closed it behind her so no one would find it suspicious.

Glancing around into the night she found no one as her garden usually remained empty at night.

Like a cunning cat, Lotus moved on tip toes. Her next destination was the kitchen from where she wished to pick up some waterskins and food which would last them at least two weeks.

She remained in the shadows as she silently reached the kitchen. It was drowned in darkness. Lotus clicked her fingers and some fireflies emerged, lighting the place up enough for her to see. She crammed her magical satchel with some waterskins and any food she found.

After the food hunt was complete, Lotus’s next destination was the dungeon prison where a certain man awaited his whipping punishment. She had to get the thick-headed Commander out before her father.

Lotus glided along, hiding from the guards. She reached the heavy grey wooden door which led down to the dungeons. It was locked with chains held together by a huge metallic lock.

Taking out another jar, she sprinkled her hand with the Hallucinating Dust and stepped closer to the guards guarding the entrance.

"Stop! Lady. Who are you?" One of the guards sceptically asked, glaring at her.

"Just a passerby whom you will forget," she answered with a subtle wink. Her hand opened revealing the shimmering dust as she blew on it.

The multicoloured particles flitted through the air and as soon as the stunned guards inhaled, their visions tunneled. All they could see were tiny fairies hovering in the air.

"Wait for me, adorable fairy," one of them shouted as he waved his hands in the air, chasing a non-existent little creature with colourful wings and big breasts.

All a man desires.

Lotus grinned and plucked the heavy keys from around his belt. Inserting the large silver key into the keyhole, she turned. The lock clicked open and threw it on the ground along with the heavy chains.

With a tap of her pointer finger she pushed open the dungeon door, letting the damp smell wage war with her nostrils. She crinkled them but began to descend the stairs, taking extra care not to trip or let her cloak collect dress.

She was a lady after all.

The stairs arrived into a damp vast space, scarcely illuminated by the torches resting on the cold walls.

Grabbing one, Lotus trudged forward. She observed each cell, the captives were sleeping and the light of her torch falling directly on their faces woke a few up.

Some cursed while others rolled over and went back to sleep.

The single guard present outside the cells caught sight of her. Before he could ask, Lotus flicked her fingers and her vines shot out, laced with paralytic agents found in these poisonous ones.

They wound around the guard, closing his mouth, incapacitating his hands, arms and legs and throwing him on the ground.

"Apologies!" Lotus mumbled to the young guard who was writhing against the twisted branches that seemed like snakes crawling all over him. The paralytic substance was taking effect to temporarily paralyse him.

Moving forward Lotus finally spotted the man she was looking for through the iron bars. He was sitting cross-legged on the ground in a meditating stance with his eyes closed.

’Ever so obedient,’ she thought and shook her head. ’He is no fun.’

"Razial!" She slowly hissed and he peeked at her, opening one eye. Second followed as he confusedly asked.

"Who are you?"

"The woman who is going to burst your ass out of here, you imbecile."
