Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate -
Chapter 169: The Wrath Of A Dragon
Chapter 169: The Wrath Of A Dragon
Siroos’s dragon didn’t miss the bruises on her skin, it fueled his rage and he wanted to punish the person responsible. Since Kanyon escaped his wrath, his next target was his father.
He had observed how they placed ballistae with spearheads on the boundary walls of the city and also around the palace. That didn’t deter him though.
Three protection charms surrounded him at that moment. His own, Lotus’s pendant and the one his mate had placed around him. A sheen layer of blended hues of blue, purple and lilac bubbled around him.
As soon as he headed for the city the royal army spotted him in the sky and sprung into action.
"Dragon!"
"He is here!"
"Take cover!"
"Ready the spears!"
"Archers take positions!"
The royal commander began to shout out instructions, climbing on a high structure. He observed him approaching with his magnanimous wing span. He glided in the air like a dark mountain about to crush them.
The people below screamed, seeing a dragon approaching; a few stopped dead in their tracks, watching him with wide eyes and even wider mouths.
The cacophony of chaos and terror broke out as the dragon growled, instilling their hearts with fear. The wind rushed past him as he sped up and dived.
The commander gulped his Adam’s apple bobbing. He had been thoroughly instructed by the crown prince that a dragon would come sooner or later.
Kanyon had planned to face Siroos head on but he was missing now. The Commander had tried to reach out to him but to no avail.
So he sent out a special unit to locate Kanyon and any enemy that might be lurking in the direction the dragon had flown from.
As it came into range the Commander shouted so loudly that the veins in his neck strained against his pale skin.
"Launchhh!!! Aim For The Belly!!!"
Tens of arrows and three spearheads, crafted from a hard metal that could pierce a dragon’s skin, were launched. The spearheads were about ten feet long, with the head at least two feet in length.
It could easily kill a dragon if its heart was pierced.
The dragon roared, seeing them retaliate, but had no plans of backing down; he was fearless when it came to battles and with the protection around him, he simply didn’t care.
They dared take his mate, he would show them what his wrath felt like.
Opening his gigantic maw, he screeched so loudly that fear settled in the hearts of the royal army. The fireball birthed inside his throat, and he hurled out a scalding torrent of fire. Burning away, most of the arrows, but two spearheads came through.
The protection around him glowed with a sizzling energy and burnt even the spears, not letting them even graze him.
They melted as if they had been crafted from ice and not the most resilient metal known to the vampire kind.
The commander’s mouth hit the ground with a loud bang. This was not what he had anticipated. The two royal mages had created a protection spell around the palace, trying to secure it.
Siroos didn’t give them much time to arrange for more mages. The fire hit the spell barrier, creating a rift between the dragon and the forces.
It burnt bright and hot like a waterfall of lava erupting from his ajar jaw as he hovered in the air diagonally, his wings thrummed behind him, keeping him stable in the air.
He was a majestic sight, captivating onlookers with an amalgamation of awe and fear.
As the fire began to create a fissure in the spell mages had cast, the vampire Commander panicked. Archers rained spears, arrows and large spearheads but it was of no avail.
"Get the Monarch out of the palace through the secret passageway; we will deal with the dragon," the commander frantically told one of his soldiers, and he quickly nodded before rushing away using his vampiric speed.
The rupture began to widen as the hybrids in the royal army began to hurl spells at Siroos. But they were unable to break the protection charm around him.
The deep terror began to clutch at their hearts the more the tear in the barrier widened and finally, it fell apart, disappearing with a poof.
The collective screams of the soldiers and people could be heard. Siroos had no intention of taking innocent lives but he was going to burn the palace down where countless horrors took place. He needed to make a statement that they couldn’t just barge into his lands, spy on him, kill an innocent woman and take away his mate.
People jumped out of his range as the dragon paused for merely a few seconds before continuing with the terror of his flaming downpour. There was no stopping him today.
Commander by that time had understood there was no stopping a rampaging dragon who was protected by such a strong spell.
"Bring the chains," the commander gave another command. They wanted to use their super speed to tie him up in one final futile attempt. Failing to understand that Siroos had the ability of superspeed as well.
Their last attempt was quickly thwarted by Siroos when all the chains and ropes were burnt down to the black residue along with a few soldiers who dared attack him.
"Back down," the commander shouted horrified as the ember storm of the dragon was directed towards the palace walls.
Burning it.
The flames reached towards the sky which sprinkled the light white flakes below.
People fled for their lives, the vampire army backed down, giving in, defeat evident in their faces.
It was very much clear he would burn down anyone daring to stand in his way. He would spare only those who laid down their weapons.
The snow fell in soft flakes as the ash rose from the burnt remains of the palace and the few dumb vampire soldiers who thought they could take on the mighty dragon.
Satisfied with reducing the palace to charred ruins the dragon flew away. He needed to take his mate home.
