Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate
Chapter 157: They Know The Truth

Chapter 157: They Know The Truth

Siroos’s heart was extra turbulent. Not a shard of solace he could find as he tossed and turned in the small bed he lay in. The bed was too small for him, his feet dangled out. But that was the least of his concerns.

All his thoughts were focused on Cassandra. They were hundreds of miles apart and yet he could sense she was in pain. The thought of someone torturing her or putting their hands on his mate wrecked him in ways he couldn’t even explain. He clutched Cassandra’s pendant in his hand and pressed.

"I will find you, Malakti." He sent a silent promise.

The more time that elapsed the more part of his sanity he seemed to lose.

Razial had arranged for them to stay with his trustworthy friends. They owned a cottage in the countryside and both brothers had taken residence there as they tried to find clues and planned their next action.

Faris was sleeping nearby. He had stopped smiling as if a part of him was lost. His mental state worried Siroos too.

The galloping of the horses in the distance made him jump out of bed. He left the warm room and walked outside of the small cottage. The night was dark today with a few stars visible in the heavens.

The wind was crisp and sharp. It bit into his skin, but Siroos didn’t care. He had become numb to everything. His whole focus was on finding his mate.

The sound of pounding of horses on the ground drew near and Siroos spread his legs and crossed his buffed arms on his chest.

Razial and Lotus came into view, riding side by side. Their horses halted near Siroos, making the dust dance in the air for a while.

"We had some urgent news, it was mandatory to covey it in person," Lotus blurted out as Siroo stepped forward and guided her down from her mare. Judging from her face turned many shades paler than it actually was, Siroos could tell it was not a good one.

"Hmm!"

Razial guided both horses away and tied them to the tree trunk near the cottage so they could graze on the dewy grass.

They entered the cottage, and the commotion woke up Faris. He rubbed his eyes and focused them on the newcomers. Seeing it was Lotus and Razial, he quickly left his bed and asked.

"Something happened?"

"We are afraid, yes," Razial glumly answered, taking off his gloves and warming his hands in front of the fire in the small fireplace. Siroos had placed the kettle inside it to heat the water so he could make some kehwa.

Lotus was rubbing her hands together, trying to stay warm. The inside was cosier than the outside.

"What is it?" Siroos asked, unable to hold himself back while he stirred the logs with a metal poker.

Razial informed them of the findings. No doubt now lingered that Stephanie and Kanyon had planned this together.

"I want to wring their necks. Once I have Cassandra back, I am going to raise hell for all those who are involved including Stephanie," Siroos fumed as he left the poker and paced the ground. His animal spirits were beyond furious learning the truth.

"The nerve of Stephanie. I want to confront her, but it will only reveal that we are onto them," Lotus added with creases on her forehead; she was feeling dizzy with this information. Her sister was at the mercy of a bloody, heartless vampire.

"We need to leave immediately and infiltrate Volsra. We can always dress up as visitors from Speldaria," Faris provided his input as he rubbed his hands down his stubbled face, clearly frustrated at the situation.

"I can arrange the papers for you and both of us can provide the potions to hide your scents. The vampires are not fond of shifters, especially after that incident with Kamyn. Only shifters allowed inside Volsra are now the ones invited or the ones born there. Mostly they are hybrids and not pure shifters," Razial explained. Special documentation was needed to enter the Kingdom of Volsra, especially for shifters.

"I am going too. All I need is a potion to change my appearance. I am not going to stay behind when my sister is in such a perilous situation," Lotus added, making Razial’s expression harden.

"It will be a dangerous mission, let us handle it, Princess Lotus," Razial requested, accepting the pipping hot bowl of kehwa Faris offered him. Both men seemed to have made peace with each other.

"Have you forgotten about the prophecy? We are supposed to face this together," Lotus answered, glaring at the commander.

"Your father would never allow it and if something were to happen to you, a whole war could break loose."

"Of course, Cassandra is not important enough for him to wage war with the vampire section. I am sure that even if he is told that Kanyon took my mate, he will do nothing," Siroos bitterly said, his gold-infused eyes dangerously glimmering. The fire reflected in them, both which sizzled inside him and that of the outside.

"If you want I can speak to the Supreme Mage..." Razial spoke quickly, warming his hands against the clay pot. The smokey tendrils rose from it, swirling all around.

"No need; she is my mate and I will find her even if I have to search the whole Volsra down."

"Brother-in-law, as much as I want to agree with this, there are innocent people in Volsra too. So we will try and keep the damage to a minimum," Lotus added, taking a sip of the sweet kehwa. It warmed her aching cold body.

"I agree with Princess Lotus. We will have to remain hidden and gather information first. Everyone has a price, I am sure someone will speak. And then we will carry out our plan swiftly," Faris spoke out, settling down with his bowl of the hot drink.

"I will never harm the innocent, just those who dared take my mate but I won’t leave that place without my mate. For now, only Faris and I will proceed and assess the situation. I agree with Commander Razial on this matter. Let me find her and we will return to you. Then we can have our revenge on Stephanie. You, ladies, can have that moment, we won’t interfere." Siroos knew Lotus could handle herself but taking her along meant alerting Stephanie and her father. Besides, he wasn’t even sure how long he would be gone.

Lotus had to agree and give in but she decided to prepare a lot of potions for them which would help them in case the need arose.
