Chapter 643: Chapter 26 Troubles, nothing but troubles! [First update]_1
In a battle two hundred years ago, in the face of the Ru Lan Empire’s attack, ’Rockford’, this great ’indigenous warrior’, broke through the Star Space Level during the battle, then rampaged through the battlefield, reversing the situation of the war at that time almost entirely!
But the Ru Lan Empire, with even stronger strength, shattered the army led by this strong one after reinforcements arrived in this Galaxy. It reached an almost untenable situation. However, this great warrior, amidst continuous setbacks, led the citizens of the city into tireless work, making crude weapons in full force. The Ru Lan Imperial Army was held back for a full decade before it was completely wiped out under the siege of all battleships and two Star-Space-Level reinforcements sent by the Ru Lan Empire.
The one who accompanied this strong warrior to the end was his wife, ’Daville’. Faced with countless battleships, she calmly committed suicide while holding her husband’s corpse.
It was due to the resistance of this strong warrior that the Biochemical Empire took advantage of the situation and seized control of the Grey-Yellow Star.
In memory of these two, some descendants of the Grey-Yellow Star began to name things after them, and these two battleships are examples of such!
"Whimper, Lulu is so scared, Kaga, are we in outer space now? Lulu remembers that when Daddy took her to Grey-Yellow Star, it was on a spacecraft like this one, but the spacecraft was destroyed."
In a corner of the giant spacecraft, a small bunny-eared alien tightly clung to a similarly small Osto boy. The unknown creatures coming and going around them had long lost familiar faces due to the previous fighting and mass evacuation.
Under the current circumstances, no one pays any attention to the two children. All living beings were mobilized, their faces full of unmatched excitement. Clearly, for escaping mortal danger, they wouldn’t care whether they were in the universe or not. What’s more, gaining so many spacecraft had showcased that the power of Earth City would step onto the path of Star Power. Compared to their previous sneaky lives in the Gold Desert, this was much better!
"Hurry up! Dismantle these supplies, we need to build shelters urgently."
"Break down this metal wall over here, connect it! Thanks to Miss Daphne who prepared the construction drawings in advance, we have no confusion at all. She’s an exceptional leader!"
"Don’t you exaggerate. Lord Assassin is our top leader in Earth City. He is a Star Space Level who can fight Otto Mo. Did you not know that Otto Mo is also a powerful existence within Star Space Level? Under his leadership, we will certainly become stronger!"
Apart from these ’Earth City’ members rushing past the two children, there were others who noticed the children. However, after seeing them, their eyes quickly moved away. After all, during such times, no one would care about these children. They couldn’t possibly starve inside the spacecraft, so no care was needed.
Lulu looked at the towering figures around her and curled up tighter in the corner.
In fact, they were not really that afraid of strangers, but the previous battle has had a profound impact on the two children. A number of Earth City members had died, many spaceport soldiers were burned to cinders, and amid intense artillery fire, the hellish scenes had made the familiar faces around them seem sinister.
By the time the two children finally got over their fear and started to eat the cake given to them by a female snake alien as they boarded the ship in the corner of the turn,
Thump, thump, thump...
The sound of army boots on the floor echoed nearby.
The soldiers moving goods all stopped their work to look at the team from the ’Earth Army’ running towards them.
It was obvious at first sight that they were the ’regular Earth Army’. The ’regular army’ referred to those who had joined the Earth Army before and later became temporary Earth Army captains. They formed the real core of Earth City.
So, when these Earth Army soldiers appeared, the crowd of beings immediately looked over. After all, they stood out.
Lulu and Kaga also raised their heads, but when they saw the dozen or so tall and short Earth Army soldiers running to them, Lulu, who was hiding in the corner, clutched Kaga more tightly in fear.
The two children were very anxious because they had seen a few times the Earth Army soldiers taking away some ordinary pedestrians. Those individuals never appeared again!
"Hello, are you Lulu?"
Unexpectedly, the captain of the Earth Army, with a delighted face, came to Lulu, then knelt down. Looking at her with a smile on his face, he said,
"Yes, I’m Lulu." Lulu nodded, but seeing such a large group, she was obviously scared. The two small children huddled together, with Kaga protectively holding Lulu behind him.
"That’s well then, please come with us." The captain made a gentle gesture, then reached out to pick up Lulu.
"Leave Lulu alone!" Kaga fought with desperate flailing of arms and kicking of legs.
But her resistance was clearly useless. A group of soldiers quickly took Lulu away.
"Lulu! Why, why did this happen?"
Kaga stood alone in a corner of the spaceship, staring at the disappearing silhouette around the corner, filled with regret. The two children who were always together, closer than even family, relying on each other for life, had finally parted ways completely.
"I will become stronger, strong enough to protect you!" Kaga clenched his fists.
"Lord Daphne, the girl has been brought in. Do you want us to bring her to meet you?"
The Noodle Man stood behind Daphne, speaking towards the graceful figure engrossed in her work at her desk.
"No need, you all follow my instructions and start executing the plan." Daphne seemed to think for a while, only then remembering who the ’girl’ Noodle Man was speaking of. For the present Earth City, this matter was no longer an urgent matter, so she just gave orders without stressing over it too much.
Noodle Man hesitated a bit, but he finally heeded and left.
He knew there were too many things that Daphne had to consider. Being her second in command, he knew he couldn’t step up to Daphne’s level, but it was vital for him to help her shoulder some minor matters.
The present Earth City was in a state of complete disorder. After one big battle, they started from scratch and managed to gain an enormous fleet of spaceships. Daphne, the leading strategist, had a say in many of these matters, causing her, an all-out woman, to feel extremely tired.
This fleet was indeed massive. One must remember that a two-kilometer-long transport ship is a rare sight even in Scholes Star. Had it not been for the combined efforts of the people of Earth City, tricking them away from other mining planets of the galaxy, it would have been uncertain whether even one of them would be at their spaceport.
"The most troublesome issue is...accommodation!"
The office that Daphne sat in was a simple one. Although she was now the leading strategist, she just worked in a hastily constructed building.
That was also the case with the entire transport ship. The colossal lifeforms like Jia Yan were still exposed in the eyes of the members, moving on a concentrated area!
Space was just too limited!
"Then comes the issue of oxygen. The two transport ships that we found were already selected based on the most advanced oxygen supply equipment, but this is far from enough for over a hundred thousand creatures existing on those ships. The supplies could last a few days at most!"
"Next is energy. Although enough for a couple of months for the two transport ships, my aspirations are not just for a few months! If we cannot establish an effective simple energy replenishment system, it would be impossible to achieve our future goals."
"And then there’s food and necessary equipment maintenance. These are issues we have to address immediately."
Daphne massaged her aching forehead. She was already beginning to envy Jia Yan, the carefree shopkeeper. But Earth City was her responsibility to maintain, so even if it got a bit tiresome, she couldn’t just let go. They had come so far, it wasn’t easy!
"Troubles, nothing but troubles!"
"Luckily, I’m not alone. The talents chosen below are being screened. Once in starry space, even if some people have ulterior motives, there’s nowhere for them to escape. And over time, Earth City will ultimately become a real entity. However, before that, we must strive to survive!"
Daphne continued pondering and then clicked on a few things on the holographic screen. After marking some key points, she started her busy plan, all by herself...
Every single being in Earth City was bustling about.
The first step for two two-kilometer-long transport ships was to undergo a certain range of transformations. With an average width of about five hundred meters and a height of about two hundred meters, these were two massive monolithic structures from any perspective.
One of them was built with ten floors. It had been designed originally to carry small, less bulky goods, so it was home to the most number of smaller life forms from Earth City.
Construction was most bustling here at the moment. Creatures were modifying the war vehicles and goods that they had brought in. With a ceiling height of twenty meters, if the space was managed well, several floors could be constructed, which is why they were using simple materials for this transformation.
The only piece of good news was that the one-kilometer transport ship that had been temporarily captured had an unexpected amount of supplies, including many of the scarce finished metal and compound materials needed for renovation.
This discovery was a great relief for Daphne, the decision-maker. Although the former owners of those goods might be in great pain now, their problems had nothing to do with Earth City. If these materials could help ease the urgent problems of Earth City, it would be the best thing Daphne could hope for.
(The upcoming Chapter might only be around 5000 words long. I’ve been wanting to have a 10,000 words’ explosion for the last few days, but maybe because of lack of sleep, I can’t concentrate. I keep feeling dizzy, and my head often hurts, which makes it impossible to put out more words. However, there should still be 8000 words. I’m really sorry!)
