"The last time I came here, you said the same thing, and now after so many days, you are still saying it. Have you reported what I’ve said or not? I seriously doubt your efficiency!"
With her pink hair bouncing frantically due to anger, Daphne was an odd allure with her strong fiery spirit. Any Auster or Earthling would have been fascinated by her ravishing temper.
But the one Daphne faced was an ’Imperial’, a ’Ru Lan Civilization’ man, with a different aesthetic. He was not moved in the slightest by Daphne’s charm nor by her gorgeous looks. He just raised his eyelids slightly because of the anger ignited by her words.
"Miss Daphne! Are you doubting me? Don’t forget who you are! A biochemist. Do you understand what that is? Just a toy that we, the Empire, created hundreds of years ago. Do you think anyone really believes what you say? The Biochemical State incident occurred over two hundred years ago. Do you think the Empire would react without verifying what a biochemist like you said? For all I know, you could be a spy from the Biochemical State!"
The stream of words gushed out from the Imperial official, and with every word, Daphne’s face darkened a bit more.
At this point, the intelligent Daphne, of course, understood why the Empire could not respond to her information immediately. It was due to her identity as a ’biochemist’.
Daphne sighed bitterly. She never expected that her identity would bring her such a situation today where, even after providing useful intel, she remained overlooked by the Empire and they even questioned the authenticity of her intel!
Yes. Daphne was indeed a biochemist developed by the previous Ru Lan civilization using technology.
Such an existence was once extremely popular in the Ru Lan civilization over three hundred years ago.
Not only in the Ru Lan Civilization but at that time, similar technologies were widely spread across the interstellar civilizations. The civilizations at the time, more or less, found joy in utilising biochemists to lighten their workload and make their lives easier.
Daphne was the epitome of the golden age of biochemists!
What Daphne didn’t know earlier, came as a hard realization when she became the ’representative’ on Earth. Many civilizations began to yearn for more than the biochemists who simply managed their lives and work.
They wanted to harness some technologies to develop more powerful biochemical beasts and use them for territorial conquests!
The subsequent reality proved that all those interstellar civilizations were wrong!
The biochemical beasts and the so-called biochemists developed by all civilizations began to form alliances, and in just a few decades, they grew from a desolate, war-ravaged planet to a mighty power that even devoured a high-level civilization.
The Biochemical Empire was born out of this!
They even befriended the ’Insect clan’ from somewhere and used the insects’ technology to destroy all means used by the civilizations to control them.
This beast, free from shackles, was like a voracious predator. Under the pretense of vengeance, they almost devoured a vast expanse of starry sky within a mere hundred years, alongside the Insect Clan.
Luckily, these monsters, created by various civilizations, had weaknesses that were glaringly evident to their creators. They had their unruly period that lasted only for a short hundred years, and those interstellar civilizations that had evolved to such a high level could not possibly be easily ruined by creatures they created!
The period after that marked an era of prolonged, seesaw battles which mirrored the sights that Jia Yan and the others came across on the Grey-Yellow Star.
Although the Biochemical Empire could barely hold its ground on the battlefield by relying on the Insect Clan’s warfare resources, it wasn’t an entity that the interstellar civilizations could take down quickly!
And as for Daphne, whose identity still remained an ’unknown biochemist’, how could she possibly gain favor from anyone?!
Thinking about all the intelligence she recently gathered made Daphne feel bitter, her face was filled with desolation.
She was wondering if her return was a mistake.
If she didn’t come to this planet, she might still be on Earth, fantasizing about the Imperial life every day, but at least she had hope, there was something to look forward to, and she would not be defeated by reality like she is now!
"The people of the Empire are not like those represented in the media, all profound and flawless. They are just like humans on Earth..."
Daphne slowly exited the office under the mocking gaze of the Imperial official.
Looking slightly lost, she observed the people around her. These creatures walking back and forth all had faces similar to the Austers’, not at all what she imagined the Imperial people to be.
On this planet, even though this place was the General Command of the Orchid Empire, they still had to work undercover, unable to expose their base or appear boldly in the sun. They could only masquerade as Austers and operate clandestinely.
Despite their appearances resembling her, the expression on the faces of the officials walking around was still marked with a faint sense of caution and mockery when they looked at Daphne.
