"Lord Jia Yan, it’s good to see you again."
Outside a grand and imposing building, several officials waited for him.
Jia Yan stepped forward, emerging from the door of the flying car.
In truth, the speed of the flying car was far slower than his own flight capabilities, not to mention the fact that this avatar of his also possessed the Space Travel Ability. Using that ability, he could have arrived at the capital in a single step.
"Greetings, everyone. You’ve done well these past few years."
Jia Yan glanced at the group of officials, all high-ranking figures. He recognized several of them as heads of major nations.
Yet, in Jia Yan’s presence, they were merely ordinary people. Their ranking in terms of seniority didn’t even surpass his parents’, and some of them had aged visibly in the past two years. Now, sporting appearances of advanced age, they seemed nearly in their seventies or eighties. If they didn’t make use of the Auster Empire’s medical advancements soon, it wouldn’t be surprising for some of them to pass away in a few years.
"Thank you, Lord, for your praise."
These figures who held great prestige in the eyes of ordinary Earth people now seemed like children before Jia Yan. Hearing his words of approval, they trembled with excitement.
"We’ll save catching up for later. The emissary is inside, yes? I’ll go meet him."
Jia Yan cut off the group of important individuals mid-sentence and proceeded to walk forward.
Although he didn’t need anyone to guide him, it was still necessary for him to keep up appearances.
Nearby, numerous guards gazed at Jia Yan from afar as if they were seeing an idol. While some remained expressionless due to guarding protocols, unable to express their emotions outwardly, others couldn’t help but grin upon seeing Jia Yan, nearly bawling with joy.
"Hmm, the strength of these guards is decent; some have even reached the Sky Level. Very good."
Jia Yan extended his senses toward the guards and felt their overall combat capabilities, which left him slightly astonished. Indeed, Earth people possessed remarkable Brainwave Power Talent. Even Little Qiqi, whom Jia Yan personally trained by hand, had only reached the Middle Period at best. Yet, among ordinary Earth people, there were already so many individuals who had attained Sky Level.
Little Qiqi had received his direct guidance, after all.
Still, he understood that this location gathered Earth’s finest elites. Sky Level individuals were still relatively rare across the entire planet.
"But achieving a Respect level might take several generations of Earth people. Even for Little Qiqi, I believe it would be challenging to attain Respect Level strength. This reflects broader environmental and genetic limitations. Sigh."
Jia Yan pondered the prospects of Earth’s future strong individuals. Even with an optimistic outlook, he estimated that it would be exceptionally challenging for this generation of Earth people to produce a Respect Level figure. As for the Semi-permanent Star Level, it might take thousands of years—and something even more powerful, such as the Stellar Level? Jia Yan could only offer a dry laugh—"Ha."
Though he mulled over these thoughts, very little actual time had passed.
The destination wasn’t far. After his musings, he took an elevator to the highest floor of the diplomatic building—the 135th story.
As the elevator doors opened, he was greeted by a wide, flat space.
At the edge of this space stood a large door—a gateway to the meeting room.
"Lord Jia Yan, the emissary from the Great Empire is waiting for you inside."
One of the significant figures who accompanied Jia Yan respectfully gestured toward him before promptly departing.
The entire floor was devoid of others.
After all, they deemed that arranging guards or other officials between two towering individuals was unnecessary. Neither of these two figures existed within the realm Earth people could fathom.
Of course, Jia Yan had long sensed the presence of the entity who had previously clashed with him—it was within this building.
He maintained his stately demeanor, calmly walking toward the large door before gently pushing it open.
Beyond the door stretched a vast conference space, occupying approximately ten thousand square meters.
There was a row of conference tables inside.
Seated at the foremost table was a figure whose youthful appearance resembled a human male.
Jia Yan eyed the individual’s human-like features with mild surprise. If he hadn’t known beforehand that the other party wasn’t an Earth person, he might have mistaken him for one.
Upon closer inspection, however, slight differences in the structure of the individual’s skeletal frame and facial features revealed disparities from Earth people.
"Mister Jia Yan, welcome."
The individual rose from his seat, his height roughly comparable to Earth humans—standing slightly over 1.8 meters.
"Hello, Your Excellency, the Ambassador."
Jia Yan nodded before seating himself directly across the table from the individual.
The ambassador appeared slightly taken aback by Jia Yan’s relaxed demeanor.
Although this was their first official meeting, in the eyes of strong individuals, their confrontation began long before face-to-face contact—hundreds of kilometers apart, they had already engaged in an unspoken contest. For Respect Level existences, hundreds of kilometers felt no different from direct proximity.
The ambassador had expected this so-called protector of Earth, Jia Yan, to already grasp the disparity in their power. Yet, Jia Yan’s unhurried composure upon meeting him in person left him surprised.
Could it be that Jia Yan was deliberately feigning nonchalance to secure greater leverage and benefits during the negotiation?
"No, it can’t be this simple. This figure seems experienced in interstellar diplomacy—he surely understands that strength reigns supreme among the stars. His current behavior must mean he has something to rely upon!"
The ambassador glared at Jia Yan with a cutting gaze, sharp as a blade.
"Enough formalities, Your Excellency, the so-called Ambassador of the Great Empire. There’s no one else here; let’s speak candidly. Your strength doesn’t pose much of a threat to me. If you plan to pressure me through power, I fear you may find your efforts in vain."
Observing the calculating look on the ambassador’s face, Jia Yan smirked before addressing him directly.
"My strength doesn’t threaten Mister Jia Yan? Surely, you don’t believe your Respect Level power makes you my equal?"
The ambassador hesitated slightly, then remarked with an air of amusement.
He sighed inwardly. Jia Yan surely hadn’t encountered many Respect Level existences before, or perhaps he simply overestimated his own strength. Either possibility led the ambassador to imagine Jia Yan as an unsophisticated provincial.
Given the circumstances, it wasn’t surprising. With Jia Yan’s Respect Level power, it was conceivable for him to dominate in less advanced regions of space. In those cases, he might have developed the misconception that all Respect Level individuals—like this ambassador—were within his reach.
"Heh. Mister Jia Yan, perhaps you aren’t aware—there are vast disparities even among Respect Level beings. Some differences are so enormous that they’re unimaginable."
The ambassador frowned slightly and began to explain to Jia Yan.
"Let me be clear: if it weren’t for the Great Empire’s dedication to preserving every ounce of strength within the Orion Arm, I would have wiped out your species by myself long ago. And if needed now—rest assured—I could dispose of you with ease."
"Oh... is that so?" Jia Yan stared at him mockingly, a flicker of derision flashing in his eyes. "By all means, enlighten me about the extent of those disparities you claim exist among Respect Level beings."
"Hah, this is why dealing with you provincials..."
Upon hearing Jia Yan’s words, the Great Empire’s ambassador perceived them as yet another attempt to provoke him. At that moment, he openly labeled Jia Yan as a "provincial."
He refrained from using the term "bumpkin," considering it already a concession.
"Among Respect Level beings, talents differ vastly. You likely cannot fathom that the strongest Respect Level individual in our Great Empire could single-handedly annihilate five or six individuals like you and me. Do you understand? Such figures are the true titans of the Respect Level."
The ambassador explained to Jia Yan with a hint of resignation.
"Respect Level individuals like you and me, is it?" Jia Yan paused, shaking his head briefly. "Very well, let us pretend it’s so. Now, Your Excellency, tell me—what does your Great Empire want from Earth? And why have you dismissed the gains Earth already fought to secure?"
The ambassador, recognizing a potential softening in Jia Yan’s tone, finally let out a small smile. "Jia Yan, this reasoning hasn’t been shared with other Earth people because they lack the qualifications to know. But you, on the other hand, possess sufficient strength to understand the truth."
"Our Great Empire is the dominant power in the central regions of the Orion Arm. Its royal family descends from the Guardian Beast who warded off formidable invaders centuries ago. Oh, perhaps you’re unfamiliar with the concept of Guardian Beasts. I’ll provide you some basic knowledge of the Orion Arm later."
"Due to certain reasons, the Guardian Beast successfully repelled the outsiders’ invasion several millennia ago. Now, those same invaders are returning, stronger than ever. To resist them effectively, our Empire needs to unite the Orion Arm entirely. Your region of space lost contact with our Empire long ago. As we’ve re-emerged, we’ve discovered that the invaders have already infiltrated once."
"Indeed, Jia Yan, you’ve likely already realized this—the ’Biochemical Empire’ you defeated was but one faction among the invaders. This point has been conclusively affirmed by the Great Empire. I commend you for this accomplishment, which is also the reason our Empire refrains from attacking Earth’s civilization."
"But celebrating this victory is premature. Wars are imminent, and our forces are far from adequate—vastly inadequate! The enemy you defeated was merely a fraction of their true potential. When the full scale of their might arrives, it will be exponentially more terrifying. This is why we must unite. Earth is a rising interstellar civilization. After evaluating your territory, we have determined that retaining Auster Empire and Ru Lan Empire personnel here is inefficient. They would be far more productive in their home nations, contributing to the construction of greater war resources for the Great Empire and the Orion Arm’s collective civilization."
"Now you understand, don’t you? Why we’ve prioritized the return of talent to their native empires. That said, Earth’s role is still significant—particularly yours, Jia Yan. Our Empire has already assembled over two hundred Respect Level dignitaries, alongside three of our Empire’s most mysterious elite figures."
"Should Earth join this family, it would undoubtedly enhance your personal power as well as the status of Earth’s species."
"Lord Jia Yan, here and now, I solemnly extend an invitation for both you and Earth’s civilization to join the Great Empire’s alliance. What say you?"
