Chapter 1396: Chapter 8 Refusal. 【Second Update of the Outburst】
The next moment, the dinosaur monster understood.
On the Carnival Star behind it, the auras of multiple Semi-permanent Star existences surged up in pursuit with terrifying speed, almost faster than Jia Yan’s escape velocity.
"Finally, they’re here." He sighed with a bit of frustration.
It turned out that the other Semi-permanent Star-level elites from the Group of Futile Life stationed on the Carnival Star had all come out together to give chase.
Facing a single Semi-permanent Star-level being, Jia Yan could still stretch his wings and make a move, but with several chasing him at once, he dared not take the risk.
Among these rapidly ascending beings, one even appeared to be a High-level Talent Semi-permanent Star powerhouse. If Jia Yan were foolish enough to stay and fight, escape would likely be impossible.
Thus, he immediately pulled his Secondary Avatar and fled posthaste!
"This guy... his sensitivity seems even higher than mine. Is he really just at the Secondary Level?"
Seeing Jia Yan’s early escape before the Semi-permanent Star partners below could even arrive, the dinosaur monster sighed in exasperation. To think it had only noticed the appearance of the Semi-permanent Star beings much later—wasn’t this proof that Jia Yan’s perception abilities were stronger than its own, even as a Semi-permanent Star genius?
"Stop chasing. That guy has Subspace Talent. We can’t catch him."
As the Semi-permanent Stars were about to pass by the dinosaur monster, it spoke up.
"Hmph, then what do you suggest we do? We’ve already offended him, and you know full well the power of this genius. Offending him now could spell disaster for us in the future."
Another Semi-permanent Star with Intermediate Talent halted and, with a tone of reproach, addressed the dinosaur monster.
"How was I to know these two would be so hard to handle? If it were you in my place, you probably wouldn’t have done any better."
Clearly, the dinosaur monster didn’t get along well with this Semi-permanent Star partner, and the two immediately bristled with tension.
"Stop your infighting, both of you. Those two Secondary Level geniuses from before are not ordinary beings—especially that one from the Metallic Tribe. Judging by his talent, he quite possibly exceeds our expectations. Since they’ve escaped, we need to think of how to salvage this situation quickly."
While they argued, a presence far more imposing than theirs appeared beside the two.
This was none other than the only High-level Talent Semi-permanent Star existence on the entire Carnival Star—the undisputed strongest individual of the planet.
"Yes, my Lord," the two arguing monsters quickly replied deferentially.
Of course, even at this moment, the dinosaur monster was secretly critical. It believed that this High-level Talent Semi-permanent Star leader had shown up much too late. If he had appeared earlier, wouldn’t Jia Yan and his companion have already been captured?
Meanwhile, far away in Subspace, Jia Yan and his Secondary Avatar were oblivious to the minor dispute among their pursuers. Jia Yan was solely focused on flying as fast as he could!
"Your strength is truly remarkable!"
A voice rang out from behind Jia Yan’s Metallic Conceptual Ship form.
It turned out to be the female monster who had fled from the Carnival Star alongside Jia Yan!
When Jia Yan had been escaping, she had coincidentally been fleeing ahead of him. Naturally, Jia Yan had pulled her into Subspace with him in passing.
It wasn’t out of any camaraderie or goodwill.
"Whether our strength is impressive or not has nothing to do with you. I didn’t save you for free. Maintaining three people’s progress and safety in Subspace consumes significant energy. You’ve been undercover on the Carnival Star for a long time; surely you have some escape plan. Lead us to your contingency now, or I’ll toss you out of Subspace immediately."
Jia Yan’s tone was flat as he spoke to the female monster behind him.
"Hmph, you really lack chivalry." Hearing Jia Yan’s words, the female monster’s budding goodwill toward him instantly vanished.
But she didn’t dare risk being thrown out of Subspace by Jia Yan. Even though they had already been flying for a while, they weren’t far enough from the Carnival Star to avoid detection by its powerful inhabitants.
"Turn left. At 153 degrees, within star-scale distance, there’s a superfast ship I prepared as a backup escape route." The female monster helplessly provided directions to Jia Yan.
Jia Yan smiled faintly upon hearing this, then steered toward the designated location.
In truth, his claim about the high energy consumption wasn’t entirely false. The earlier battle might have seemed like two monsters taking on the Semi-permanent Star dinosaur, but no one knew that Jia Yan had been controlling both monsters himself!
This had drained an immense amount of energy, especially when his Secondary Avatar was fighting at full power. The energy required to control his avatar consumed Jia Yan’s Brainwave Power significantly. Considering his true Brainwave Power was only at the Venerable Level, fighting in succession against a Semi-permanent Star was no easy feat.
Though Subspace allowed for faster speed, the surrounding space was still part of the Carnival Star’s domain. Broadly speaking, the Group of Futile Life controlled an area spanning nearly half a light-year. Without leaving swiftly, the risk of danger remained.
Before long, Jia Yan, his Secondary Avatar, and the female monster arrived at her designated location.
Sure enough, there was a streamlined ship camouflaged for concealment.
In the vastness of the universe, ships came in various forms depending on their purpose. While Warrior Warships were prevalent among the strong, other types of ships also abounded. The streamlined vessel before them was one such example.
This ship had a sleek design, approximately two kilometers in length—just enough to accommodate three or four Secondary Level monsters.
Jia Yan and his Secondary Avatar didn’t hesitate much before boarding this ship, which, while swift, lacked any defensive or offensive capabilities.
"Alright, I’ll start it up. This superfast ship travels over three times the speed of standard warships, but it can’t handle any attacks. Let’s hope we’re not intercepted."
The female monster warned Jia Yan and his avatar before activating the ship.
Moments later, a flash of faint light shot out from the docking area, streaking into the boundless starry sky like an arrow loosed from a bow.
The superfast ship had launched.
Aboard the vessel, Jia Yan ignored all else. He crouched low, leaving his avatar to stand guard, while he quickly pulled out some energy materials. His condensation fluid quivered slightly as he began to absorb the energy.
Of course, none of this was visible to others since Jia Yan’s true body remained hidden within the Conceptual Ship.
"Take the opportunity to rest. I’ll call you if anything happens," the female monster said as she piloted the ship, addressing Jia Yan and his avatar.
She couldn’t see Jia Yan’s true form inside the Conceptual Ship, quietly recovering his strength.
The avatar didn’t respond to her either, leaving the female monster slightly frustrated as she spoke into a void of silence.
The superfast ship lived up to its name, moving at a speed far surpassing that of ordinary Warrior Warships. In this section of the universe, it was like a faint streak of light, quickly escaping the Group of Futile Life’s territory.
Their rapid departure seemed to have caught their pursuers off guard, as there was no sign of further pursuit from the Group of Futile Life. The journey was smooth.
No one knew how much time had passed.
"Hey, wake up, both of you. We’ve left the territory of the Group of Futile Life. Are you getting off the ship?"
Just as Jia Yan felt he had recovered sufficiently, the female monster’s voice suddenly reached him from outside.
"We’ve already cleared their territory? So soon?"
Activating his Conceptual Ship, Jia Yan asked the female monster in slight surprise.
"Of course. I took a route almost no one knows about—no checkpoints at all," she responded smugly.
Seeing Jia Yan lapse into thought, the female monster hesitated briefly before continuing with a serious tone.
"You’re not one of the geniuses from the Dark Realm, are you? I don’t know why you came here, but if you need a place to recover, you’re welcome to stay at the faction I belong to. Consider this an invitation. If a genius like you were to join us, we’d be thrilled as a faction."
Her words were well calculated, having personally witnessed Jia Yan’s combat prowess.
After all, as a Secondary Level genius, Jia Yan had displayed strength nearly rivaling an Intermediate Talent Semi-permanent Star-level genius!
The faction she belonged to didn’t have a single High-level Talent Semi-permanent Star-level powerhouse. If Jia Yan were to join, he would immediately become one of their top-tier forces with a future of immense potential.
Her proposal seemed reasonable, especially since she assumed Jia Yan needed a resourceful place to recover after his exhaustive battle.
However, she didn’t expect Jia Yan’s next response. After hearing her invitation, he simply controlled the body of his Conceptual Ship and shook it lightly.
"No, thanks. I don’t plan on joining any factions in the Dark Realm. I appreciate your invitation, but I must decline."
"Oh... Alright then. What’s your next move? Are you disembarking or just visiting my faction?" The female monster, clearly disappointed, asked again.
"We’ll disembark." Jia Yan shook his metallic body, moving toward the exit of the superfast ship.
His avatar also remained silent, joining him as they flew out of the ship.
The female monster, deeply disappointed, could do nothing to stop these two powerful beings from leaving. She could only watch as they exited the ship.
"By the way, I take on missions in the Dark Realm. If your faction has any suitable tasks, feel free to contact me. I’ll assess and complete them if possible. This is my communication code."
Just as Jia Yan was about to depart, he seemed to decide on a whim to provide her with this message.
Before the female monster could process what she had just received—a communication code from Jia Yan—he and his avatar had already transformed into a flash of lightning, vanishing into the depths of the starry sky.
"What terrifying geniuses, especially this one called Mo Ke. I’ve never heard of such a fearsome talent. Could he truly be a top-tier prodigy?"
Staring at the dark void of space where Jia Yan and his avatar had disappeared, the female monster stood frozen, as if the entire encounter had been nothing more than a dream.
