Jia Yan, amidst the interstellar debris, looked visibly startled, his expression shifting drastically, stunned into momentary disbelief.
Although he was aware of the immense power of a Semi-permanent Star Genius with an Intermediate Talent, he had never imagined their strength could reach such a terrifying extent.
A one-thousand-kilometer-diameter piece of interstellar material was directly under their singular control.
Jia Yan’s expression changed dramatically, but he didn’t lose composure. Instead, he forcefully struggled, managing to shake the oppressive power off slightly.
"I see now. This power looks overwhelming, but it disperses when spread thin. He’s merely trying to prevent me from escaping smoothly within subspace."
Having just entered subspace, Jia Yan’s body remained partially in the external space. Now, with the opponent’s control force sweeping over, it forcibly expelled him back into real space.
At the same time, the group of monsters burrowing underground abruptly changed direction, advancing toward Jia Yan’s location.
"Run!"
Jia Yan wasn’t interested in direct confrontation. Instead, he unleashed his brainwave power, violently repelling the golden-hoop-like control force constraining his body, and fled at high speed.
"Oh?"
The Semi-permanent Star Genius who exerted the control force displayed a slight change in expression.
He could sense that Jia Yan’s physical power was not exceptionally strong, yet the sheer explosiveness of his energy allowed him to break free from the control. Such a reaction was rare even among Secondary Powerhouses.
"It must be a species with high burst power. But raw explosiveness alone isn’t enough..."
The Semi-permanent Star Monster gave a faint, confident smile.
Then, he intensified his control force abruptly, evidently with the intent of immobilizing Jia Yan completely, or at least drastically curbing his mobility.
Jia Yan was now in direct combat with an Intermediate Talent Semi-permanent Star Powerhouse.
"He’s catching up!"
As Jia Yan grew increasingly anxious, a jubilant voice suddenly erupted like a crack of thunder from behind him.
Immediately after, Jia Yan noticed a monster’s claw digging through the soil behind him, bursting forth to confront him.
The creature didn’t bother with idle talk. As soon as it emerged, it swung a claw toward Jia Yan’s Conceptual Ship’s metallic body, aiming for his back.
With the Semi-permanent Star Genius controlling him externally and this monster attacking him head-on, Jia Yan was on the verge of utter defeat!
"Hmph! Space stone, detonate!"
At this moment of desperation, Jia Yan’s eyes gleamed with a dark resolve. Right before the monster’s ferocious claw struck, a small, pitch-black stone suddenly appeared before its eyes.
"What the hell is this thing?"
The Pangolin Monster glanced skeptically at the tiny stone. But in its judgment, such a minuscule object was unlikely to pose any real danger. It hesitated not at all, continuing its strike toward Jia Yan’s back.
"That guy really loves hogging credit." The Pangolin Monster’s companions—several Secondary Powerhouses—shook their heads in mild annoyance.
They had all pursued Jia Yan together, but given the Pangolin Monster’s rapid digging ability, the others had no choice but to follow behind and bite the dust.
Having finally cornered their prey, and with the Semi-permanent Star Senior outside pinning Jia Yan in place, it was clear the Pangolin Monster was merely reaping the benefits of others’ efforts.
None of them paid attention to the suddenly materialized black stone.
In the next instant, the Pangolin Monster’s claw struck Jia Yan’s metallic exterior.
Simultaneously, the space stone erupted in a dazzling blaze of light.
The Semi-permanent Star Genius controlling Jia Yan from a distance wore an amused expression. "This little crew is squabbling over credit. Just don’t kill him—I still need to interrogate him about the forces backing him..."
"Hmm? What’s this!"
His smirk froze as his expression changed drastically.
"Run!"
Detecting an overwhelming surge of power, he shouted in terror.
But by the time he spoke, it was already too late!
As his cry of alarm echoed, the space stone had fully unleashed its power.
It felt as if the entire universe trembled for an instant.
Space quaked violently, as if subspace and real space were converging into utter chaos.
The celestial body in the vicinity visibly flared with a flash of light before exploding from its core.
What followed was a maelstrom of fragments and countless spatial rifts, shooting outward with devastating force.
Despite preparation, the Semi-permanent Star Genius was blasted thousands of kilometers away by the shockwave.
And that was from being hundreds of kilometers away from the explosion’s epicenter, with the celestial body itself acting as a buffer.
The chill of fear gripped his heart almost instantly!
The death of the pursuing monsters would have been acceptable, but among the Secondary Powerhouse geniuses accompanying him, one High-level Talent individual stood out—a prospective Supreme leader of the BeiTuan Faction in the future.
If this prodigy were to perish, especially over his personal vendetta with a lowly Secondary Monster, the Semi-permanent Star Genius knew he’d face certain death upon returning to the faction.
Yet, as he surveyed the devastation wrought by the explosion, hope for any survivors among his subordinates was virtually nonexistent. He knew all too well the sheer terror of the unleashed power—he himself would be half-dead if he were at ground zero.
"Damn it! How could a mere Secondary Monster possess something so lethal? What the hell was it?" he growled in frustrated fury.
Even as he raged, imagining skinning the perpetrator alive if they somehow survived...
"Huh?"
His eyes suddenly locked onto a particular spot in the starry void, thousands of kilometers away.
"Damn! Still alive? You’re not getting away!"
The Semi-permanent Star Monster had somehow spotted Jia Yan darting away within subspace.
With an infuriated roar, his entire body surged with energy as he shot forward in mad pursuit.
Yet subspace flight boasted unparalleled speed. Moreover, Jia Yan seemed to possess some method of augmenting his acceleration. By the time the Semi-permanent Star Genius reached the spot, Jia Yan had already fled tens of thousands of kilometers away, his trace vanishing completely after several more leaps.
"Ah! How could this happen? Not only did I fail to kill him, but I also lost several geniuses? I’ve doomed myself!"
The Semi-permanent Star Monster was filled with inconsolable regret.
Within subspace, Jia Yan sped away, enduring his injuries with gritted teeth.
Though he had hastily entered subspace to dodge the blast, the explosive force was so terrifying it still managed to batter his Conceptual Ship, leaving him half-broken and almost coughing blood.
Even one of the chasing Secondary Powerhouses was caught in the blast, inadvertently thrown into the same subspace pocket as Jia Yan. Their body, too, suffered catastrophic damage.
However, this other entity seemed to possess unique talents, managing to withstand the lethal force without immediate death.
As for Jia Yan, his situation was grim. Not because his wounds were irreparable—he was an Evolutionary Creature, capable of recovering through rest and absorbing energy.
The real tragedy lay in the state of his Conceptual Ship, which had borne the brunt of the impact.
He treated the ship as armor, but no armor could remain unscathed under such overwhelming destruction.
Gazing sorrowfully at the gaping hole blasted into the back of his ship, Jia Yan felt on the verge of tears.
Yet, just as frustration consumed him, a surprising sight caught his attention.
The damaged section of the Conceptual Ship’s memory metal began to stir, slowly mending the breach.
Other parts of the ship shifted to compensate for the damage, slightly reducing its overall size. The ship’s defense capabilities remained intact, and, astonishingly, the Conceptual Ship returned to pristine condition.
"What terrifying technology. Who could have constructed this ship? Their technological prowess is beyond imagination."
Jia Yan stared at the self-repairing marvel in silent awe.
Still, considering the advancements in the Genius Battlefield, he didn’t dwell too much on its origins. The craft—while impressive—was within the realm of feasible technology, albeit a masterful integration of cutting-edge abilities.
"Hmm? That Secondary Powerhouse is still attached to the ship..."
Having fled some distance and confirmed he had shaken off the Semi-permanent Star Genius, Jia Yan glanced back, only to be surprised by the sight of an unconscious Secondary Powerhouse genius still clinging to his Conceptual Ship.
As one of his pursuers, Jia Yan felt no mercy. His forelimb rose, poised to pierce through the enemy’s skull.
"My lord, please don’t kill me!"
Suddenly, a creature no larger than a human palm leaped out from the Secondary Powerhouse’s head, begging Jia Yan pitifully.
"Huh..."
Jia Yan hesitated, momentarily stunned.
Previously, his brainwave power had detected nothing unusual within the Secondary Powerhouse’s body. Yet now, this tiny creature had emerged directly from their head?
A renewed scan with his brainwave power sent chills down his spine.
The Secondary Powerhouse’s skull was hollow—completely cleaned out, as if consumed by something.
Seeing the tiny creature leap from the now-empty head, Jia Yan could easily deduce what had happened!
Had this small creature devoured the brains of a peerless genius?!
The thought alone made Jia Yan shudder. He immediately lashed out with one of his metallic appendages, aiming to kill the little beast in one swipe!
"My lord, please spare me! Would you not desire a loyal High-level Talent Secondary subordinate?"
The creature cowered in terror before the enormous appendage. Its gelatinous body clearly lacked the speed to escape, leaving it to await death.
Yet its final plea seemed to have an effect!
The massive appendage stopped inches from the goo-like entity.
Though Jia Yan was still inclined to snuff it out, its words had piqued his interest—or perhaps, sparked an ambition.
