"Don’t dodge, come die with me!"

Lan Wu could feel his life force being destroyed, and he fiercely lunged at Jia Yan, his legs exuding a horrifying spacetime fluctuation.

"Not dodging? That’d be ridiculous."

Jia Yan didn’t fully understand what those spacetime fluctuations were, but he knew this was Lan Wu’s last desperate attack—undoubtedly terrifying.

His retreating movements lost their swiftness against the opponent, making evasion nearly impossible.

"Looks like I’ll have to test that secret trick I deduced using the space stone here."

Jia Yan sighed deeply in his heart with a sense of resignation.

Then, his retreating form abruptly stopped in front of Lan Wu.

Seeing Jia Yan suddenly stop moving, Lan Wu’s expression brightened with delight: "Out of energy to escape, huh?"

Jia Yan was his last opponent in life. As his vitality burned away, his sole thought was to drag Jia Yan, this venerable-level being, to die with him. Witnessing Jia Yan seemingly give up escaping, Lan Wu couldn’t help but feel ecstatic.

But Jia Yan paid no mind to his thoughts. Instead, a massive space stone emerged from the outer layer of Jia Yan’s Giant Mosquito-like frame.

And this space stone was colossal.

The space stone rapidly flew upward, but Lan Wu’s attack speed wasn’t slow either. With Jia Yan halting his retreat, Lan Wu had already charged right in front of him.

Within only two or three meters, his legs brimming with spacetime fluctuations were ready to slash at Jia Yan’s head.

At this very moment, the space stone positioned itself directly in front of those legs.

During this life-or-death instant, the endlessly distorted surrounding space appeared to freeze for a brief moment.

The two creatures locked eyes, their gazes filled with icy coldness.

In the next moment, either Lan Wu would die alone, or he would take Jia Yan along to the afterlife.

It was then that Lan Wu noticed the swiftly flying space stone.

"Using a space stone to stop me? This space stone doesn’t even have the ability to hinder me!"

Lan Wu’s face twisted in madness. He unleashed his power without restraint, determined to release all his strength in the final moments of his life.

As the two drew closer and closer, while Jia Yan stared at Lan Wu, his gaze gradually returned to calmness.

Jia Yan’s brainwave power calmly spoke...

"Explode."

He uttered softly.

In the next instant, all Lan Wu could see was a dazzling brilliance abruptly bursting before him.

And that brilliance—of all things—came from the very space stone he had dismissed as powerless!

The radiance engulfed his entire field of vision. Lan Wu’s final memory was of the Big Mosquito’s Compound Eyes, calm yet so close to him...

Seconds later, Lan Wu perished.

Outside the battlefield platform, the spectators and contestants surrounding the area were stunned by the subspace battle.

"Haven’t Jia Yan and Lan Wu been fighting in subspace for quite a while? How come they still haven’t come out? Could the battle really be that intense?"

"Impossible. Who is Lan Wu? He’s from the Space Species. In subspace, not only is his ability far superior to Jia Yan by at least two tiers, but even an opponent of the same level would find it difficult to compete with him. If you ask me, isn’t Lan Wu toying with Jia Yan in subspace until he’s bored and then coming out to finish him off?"

"Exactly. Jia Yan might be a terrifying venerable-level figure, but he’s nothing compared to someone at the Semi-permanent Star Level. And running into subspace to fight someone from the Space Species? That’s outright brainless behavior. Lan Wu must be playing with him like a toy before deciding to kill him outright."

As the spectators and contestants debated animatedly.

A bright light unexpectedly erupted from the location where the two contestants had disappeared into subspace.

Boom!!!

An explosion thundered.

The brilliance was terrifying—it extended from subspace to the external environment, and its energy didn’t diminish, crashing into the energy shield encasing the battlefield platform.

Boom boom boom boom!

The universe echoed with deafening roars. The sound, impossible in the vacuum of space, was produced by spacetime fluctuations, resonating with a chaotic fury.

"What kind of explosion is that? Terrifying!"

"Run! The energy shield is going to break. If we get caught in the shockwave, we’re doomed!"

The moment the contestants and spectators witnessed the terrifying explosive energy, panic seized them. No one had the time to contemplate the cause of such destruction; survival instinct drove them to flee immediately.

"Hmm? Interesting."

Amidst the mass panic, a voice suddenly rang out from the heights of the battlefield, as its owner noticed something astonishing.

Right after the voice spoke, the explosive energy appeared to be gripped by an invisible hand and forced to condense within the energy shield.

The previously overwhelming destructive power began to dissipate gradually.

"A Stellar-level senior took action. Thank you, Senior."

The creatures who had initially prepared to flee now bowed in reverence toward the sky, relieved by the intervention.

Of course, their gratitude received no response.

"But what exactly was that energy explosion just now? It seemed to originate from subspace. Could it have been caused by Jia Yan and Lan Wu?"

The lucky survivors, now safe, finally began speculating about the cause of the terrifying explosive force.

"Impossible. There’s no way their level of strength could create such a spectacle. This kind of energy would only come from someone of Semi-permanent Star Level or higher. If they could pull this off, then we might as well hand them the championship trophies and skip the tournament."

"True, it must’ve been some unique phenomenon in subspace. Spontaneous, unexplained explosions occur all the time in the cosmos; this was likely one of them."

Few among the audience possessed Space Talent, let alone the capability to enter subspace or understand its intricacies. Hence, their half-baked theories arrived at simpler conclusions: the explosion was a cosmic anomaly likely unrelated to the two competitors.

"What a devastating explosion. Jia Yan and Lan Wu are surely dead in there, but it’s just as well. Good riddance to Jia Yan!"

"Agreed. It’s a pity about Lan Wu though. Still, dying alongside that obnoxious meddling venerable is no small legacy. Our 132 Star Zone has never seen such an irritating Outsider before!"

"Honestly, Jia Yan was quite skilled. It’s a shame he died, but at least he won’t be causing any more trouble."

While many creatures continued discussing, convinced Jia Yan was dead...

On the high podium, King Er Ding spoke with a smug grin.

"Everyone, let us take a moment to calm down. The explosion has already been contained by the senior official from the Genius Battlefield. We are no longer in any danger. However, it’s unfortunate that the two contestants who were fighting in subspace have likely perished in the explosion’s aftermath. All we can do now is mourn their fallen spirits."

"Let us observe a minute of silence for them. Afterward, the combat will resume..."

King Er Ding smiled as he announced the resolution of the unexpected incident.

Death within the Genius Battlefield was routine. Offering a minute’s silence for Jia Yan and Lan Wu was already quite generous.

But his smug words and demeanor still came across as revolting.

The Tornado Force creatures were stunned.

"Jia Yan is dead?"

Tai Jin couldn’t believe his ears. He widened his eyes in disbelief and shook his head.

Fate truly despises geniuses, he thought. Jia Yan, the most terrifying talent he’d ever known, dying inexplicably in subspace—that was nearly unfathomable.

However, the explosion he had witnessed firsthand was devastating. Its power was massive enough to annihilate two of his kind, and while Jia Yan was a venerable-level monster, survival seemed impossible under such circumstances.

"Ah, the Genius Battlefield takes too many valuable lives. Even high-level talents like Brother Jia often meet their end here—it’s such a tragedy. He truly was an extraordinary figure," Tai Jin lamented.

As the minute of silence neared its conclusion, marking time over the supposed deaths...

At the epicenter of the upheaval—a chaotic void produced by the explosion—a radiant forelimb resembling the sun suddenly emerged with a stomp, as if stepping onto the hearts of all observers.

This forelimb emerged from subspace’s post-explosion abyss...

"And now I declare, the silence is over... Hmm?"

Midway through his proclamation, King Er Ding froze abruptly.

His gaze, filled with astonishment, shifted to the center of the blast site.

A flying monster bathed in radiant blue light slowly, ever so slowly, emerged from the pit left by the explosion.

Though its coloration had drastically changed, its familiar shape remained entirely unchanged.

To the watching creatures, this figure was unmistakable.

It was the very venerable-level genius monster they had presumed dead...

Jia Yan!

"You..."

King Er Ding stared at the blue creature glowing like a miniature star. His voice caught in his throat, robbing him of his sharp tongue, leaving him unable to form words.

"Haha, hello everyone. Lan Wu is dead. This round... I believe it’s my victory, correct?"

Jia Yan strode gracefully, step by step, rising from the abyss and into the air above the battlefield. Facing an audience of millions, he calmly posed his question.

"You—how is it possible for you to be alive?"

King Er Ding stammered, barely managing to voice his disbelief.

"When the explosion occurred, I happened to find a safe spot within subspace. Unfortunately, Lan Wu wasn’t so lucky." Jia Yan replied ambiguously.

"Fine... Fine, you win. Jia Yan, this match goes to you!" King Er Ding proclaimed, his expression dark with frustration.

"Thank you."

Jia Yan nodded in acknowledgment. Under the incredulous gaze of the spectators, he returned to the Tornado Force’s ranks.

"Jia Yan, how can it be that..."

Tai Jin stared at Jia Yan with an expression as if he’d seen a ghost.

"How can I be alive, right?"

Jia Yan glanced at him, finishing his words for him.

Jia Yan shook his head, cracking a gentle smile.

He was quite satisfied with his space stone’s overpowering move!

As for why he himself survived? The answer was rather simple.
