Chapter 1297: Chapter 50 Guidance from the Strong Ones of Specters [End of This Volume]
Once Jia Yan had left, in the space beneath that skyscraper, a Semi-permanent star Powerhouse questioned their Leader with a hint of distrust.
"Lord, will this Jia Yan obediently fight for us? It would be disgraceful if we made all the effort only for him to deliberately lose the battle."
"Rest assured. I am very familiar with such geniuses. He came to our Star Zone for battle. Even without our invitation, he would challenge one Genius after another. By inviting him, we are simply offering him some extra income, nothing more. He will strive to win battles he’s meant to win on his own."
After the highest Leader of the Tornado Force said this, the surrounding Semi-permanent star colleagues all seemed to have an epiphany.
They all regarded Jia Yan as an Intermediate Genius from the Intermediate Stars Area seeking experience in the 132 Star Zone. Such geniuses would certainly not pass up any opportunity to win a battle.
"Furthermore, there must be a Super Powerhouse behind this genius; otherwise, no Medium Force would let such a talent venture out alone. We must not offend him and must give out all the promised rewards. Do you understand?"
...
Jia Yan exited the central command of the Tornado Force, his heart far less calm than his outward appearance suggested.
His current strength was not enough to escape unscathed from a group of Semi-permanent star Powerhouses, so he was understandably nervous surrounded by so many of them.
Luckily, they bore him no ill will, so after he agreed to their terms, he quickly regained his freedom.
"It seems they still suspect that I am a genius affiliated with a major power. I must make good use of this identity, and hopefully, nobody who knows my true identity will reveal my secrets. At least not until I grow stronger, to avoid any troublemakers causing serious harm."
After pondering for a while, Jia Yan’s Compound Eyes shimmered with relief.
His progress in strength had been rapid, and Jia Yan believed he could swiftly enhance his power within the 132 Star Zone. Once powerful enough, even danger would not faze him.
"Let’s go find that ghostly Monster. I’d like to learn more about his ability to win battles with his mouth."
Jia Yan changed direction and began flying slowly toward the presence he felt in his heart.
The entire Tornado Star wasn’t very large; it didn’t take him long to reach the spot he had sensed.
"Lord Jia Yan, you really came as expected. Please come down and grace my humble abode."
A voice reached Jia Yan’s ears.
Seeing the small palace-like building below, and knowing the preciousness of space on the crowded Tornado Star, it was clear that the person he was seeking lived quite well.
He descended to the ground, and sure enough, a floating figure waited there.
"Lord Jia Yan, you truly are exceptional. In such a short amount of time, you’ve grown stronger. Impressive indeed."
At first glance, the floating figure hurriedly approached Jia Yan, examining his appearance, then clicked his tongue in wonder.
"You can tell that my strength has improved so easily? This ghostly creature really does have some unique aspects."
Taken aback, Jia Yan’s interest in this ghostly Powerhouse grew even more.
At the invitation of the other, Jia Yan entered the abode of the ghostly Powerhouse.
Despite the outer area being a bustling world, the moment he stepped into the ancient-style building, all outside noise disappeared, replaced by the fragrance of trees.
"Nice place," Jia Yan remarked after looking around a few times, genuinely impressed.
"Haha, I earned this all with my mouth. I couldn’t refuse the money people wanted to give me," laughed the ghostly Powerhouse with glee.
"I’m curious, what exactly is it you’re able to speak forth with your mouth? Also, you’re referred to as the ’Verbal Powerhouse’; what does that mean? It wasn’t appropriate to ask during the arena battle, so I took the liberty of visiting you this time, hoping you could alleviate my doubts."
Jia Yan straightened up and asked.
"Heh, I knew you would ask about this. Mister Jia Yan, whatever I said when I met you before has long slipped my mind. This is just a Talent Power of our clan. There’s nothing too mysterious about it. It allows us to see someone’s past from certain clues on their person. However, we can’t explain how this ability works. After seeing someone’s past and speaking it out loud, I quickly forget it. Especially the places I’ve seen will have their traces disappear. Other similar Talents can’t see your past or know your strength and moves."
The Ghostly Powerhouse did not hide much, candidly revealing his Talent and weaknesses.
"I see, so it’s seeing someone’s past through traces left on their body?" Jia Yan was a bit stunned and amazed. The Universe indeed had such extraordinary Abilities.
He couldn’t understand how, during their previous battle, the ghostly Powerhouse was able to see his parents and possibly even Earth.
What could the principle behind such an Ability be, if based on his body?
"Mister Jia Yan, I know what you’re thinking, but please don’t ask me; I really don’t know how to explain it. You had memories of your past etched on your body that I could see. But once I’ve seen it, I forget it, and especially for the places I’ve seen, their traces will disappear. Other entities with similar Talents won’t be able to see them or know about your strength and moves."
"Oh? So you possess that kind of power!" Jia Yan finally looked shocked.
"That’s right, Mister Jia Yan, I earned my wealth in such a way. The cosmic entities with Talent Powers like mine are rare, but with the vastness of the Universe, added up, there are many of us strange creatures. Many Powerhouses, to avoid exposing their weaknesses in future encounters with another Powerhouse like me, let me see their past. Then those traces disappear. I won’t remember, and they pay me money to rid themselves of this potential trouble permanently. That’s why I’ve earned so much."
The Ghostly Powerhouse explained to Jia Yan while floating leisurely.
"In that case, I wonder what your fee is. Please help me look into the past together," Jia Yan said without a trace of hesitation upon hearing the other party’s words.
"Alright, I still have some abilities, which I will discuss with you later. First, let’s talk about the conditions. What I want is a part of the reward you just obtained as the first-place winner among the Secondary Powerhouses, called the Green Stone Eye. This material can enhance the Talent powers of my kind."
"Green Stone Eye? Here, you can have it."
Jia Yan did not hesitate at all and handed over one of the green stone prizes he had just received to the other party.
It was apparent that this ghostly Strong One was quite pleased.
"Haha, okay then, I’ll start now. However, this fading process will take some time. You can wait while playing games. I have a very fun gaming console here."
Jia Yan helplessly bantered with the ghostly Monster for a while, and then the ghostly Monster took its position.
He felt a force slowly sweep across his body.
Jia Yan felt that the power was not very strong, but it was incredibly tricky, especially since he currently had no effective way to block it.
"Mister Jia Yan, I am slowly scanning your past, while also erasing it. I’ve seen some interesting things, too bad, though, I’ll forget them as soon as I’ve seen them," the ghostly Monster said, its eyes seemingly emitting light that scanned Jia Yan with intense heat.
After a long time, Jia Yan even felt as if several days had passed.
The scanning sensation stopped.
"Mister Jia Yan, the scan is complete, but I’ve left a very important message that I need to tell you right away, otherwise I’ll forget it immediately."
The ghostly Monster seemed to be savoring Jia Yan’s past while hurriedly speaking.
It looked a bit strained, as if erasing the past of a powerful being was extremely difficult.
"Go ahead and speak," Jia Yan said, somewhat anxious.
Even though Jia Yan didn’t take the ’message’ mentioned by the ghostly Monster very seriously, this Monster was indeed mysterious, and it might actually reveal something that could impact Jia Yan.
But what Jia Yan didn’t expect was that the content of the message would truly stun him.
"Mister Jia Yan, you have been pursuing your own Power, but this Power, you once possessed it, even if the circumstances then were special. Yet now, you have actually forgotten about it, and I feel regret for you," the ghostly Strong One said, enduring its poor condition while mocking Jia Yan.
"My own Power?" Jia Yan was taken aback.
His own Power, Jia Yan was somewhat puzzled.
Jia Yan knew that his current strength largely originated from that Senior. Without his legacy, even if Jia Yan was still a Genius who could have come to the Genius Battlefield with the Evolutionary Creature’s Talent, he was destined to be merely a somewhat unique Intermediate Genius. Of course, an Intermediate Genius bursting with full strength might manage to kill beyond their level, but it would not be possible to reach the current level of Jia Yan’s Power.
Jia Yan understood that relying on the Power of predecessors forever could not surpass them, but he didn’t know what to do.
"I once obtained my own Power? This ghostly Monster, surely, isn’t talking about something ordinary. Perhaps this Power could be as formidable as the legacy from the Senior. But have I really obtained it before? Why don’t I remember..."
Jia Yan was suddenly puzzled and fell into deep thought.
The ghostly Monster seemed even more confused in its mind, shaking its head and saying, "Lord Jia Yan, what I’ve seen is very vague. I can only give you some hints."
"This thing... is very powerful, and in the future, it might even be as strong as the main path you are currently focusing on, maybe even exceeding it."
"You’re talking about a thing?" Jia Yan interrupted.
After being interrupted, the ghostly Strong One paused in its words, as if all the images had been chased away.
It started to look defeated.
"Yes, and it’s incredibly domineering, black... extremely black..."
Its words started to become disorganized.
Black!?
This word struck Jia Yan like a bolt of lightning, illuminating his entire mind.
His previously crouched body stood up straight.
