Chapter 1292: Chapter 45 Jia Yan Fights Shang Ren! [Subscribe for the official version]
Jia Yan was unaware that his performance had led the Tornado Force to view him as a profligate scion; he was simply waiting for the next challenge.
"Lord Jia Yan, you’re incredible, you’ve made it into the top five!"
The few Venerables who were on good terms with Jia Yan greeted him as he left the arena, all displaying an expression of astonishment.
You should know that this top-five ranking wasn’t just any top-five—it was the top-five among Secondary Powerhouses who were a level above Jia Yan. The existence of such strength was, to them, equivalent to that of respected Seniors and more knowledgeable individuals.
To the genius Secondary Powerhouses, though, Jia Yan seemed no different from the ordinary Strong Ones; in fact, they could even discern that he seemed to have held back.
This is not something an ordinary genius could accomplish!
"Lord, your Talent must be among the high-ranking existences within intermediate geniuses, right? Otherwise, how could you kill a top-ten genius level cultivator before reaching the Respected Peak Period?" The Leopard Monster was especially curious about Jia Yan’s Talent.
Jia Yan merely smiled and did not answer.
Both parties had only met by chance; there was no need for him to clarify, and the Leopard Monster was only asking casually.
Indeed, seeing that Jia Yan was not going to speak, the Leopard Monster didn’t pursue the matter further.
"This Jia Yan can even kill the Secondary Level existences among the top ten Strong Ones? Hehe, it seems I’ve underestimated him a bit."
On the other side of the competitor’s seat, the Blue Lizard Monster glanced at Jia Yan briefly and then emitted an unhappy snort.
In the ranks of the Tornado Force Venerable level existences, he had considered himself the most glorious. However, with Jia Yan appearing on the scene and stealing some of his limelight, he became somewhat uncomfortable.
He considered himself an intermediate genius who was almost at the Secondary Level of a Venerable; even though Jia Yan also seemed to be an intermediate genius, he still believed Jia Yan would not be his match.
"You come here, arrange it—let the five-strong fight be between him and me."
The Lizard Monster called over one of the Tornado Force’s Secondary Level Monsters, ordering him to make arrangements.
"Alright." The Lion Monster nodded.
"Jia Yan... bask in your glory for a moment. Our battle is up next, and I hope you can block my ten moves!"
The Lizard Monster looked in Jia Yan’s direction with a faint smile.
The Lizard Monster had retracted his previous claim that Jia Yan wouldn’t last two moves against him but still didn’t believe that Jia Yan could withstand ten of his moves.
The battle continued to unfold.
Soon, the five-strong battle lineup was revealed.
And what shocked everyone the most was an unprecedented scene in the history of the Tornado Force’s genius battle.
That is, in the genius battle of Secondary Level, there appeared two Venerables, and these two Venerables both advanced to the top five, making it a battle that could go down in the entire history of the Tornado Force.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, audiences everywhere! This is the Tornado Force’s Genius Battle, and in this year’s Tornado Force genius battle, an unusual situation has emerged—two Venerables have appeared in the battles of the Secondary Level!"
"Subscribe to me quickly, folks. I am a beautiful lady from the Beautiful Spider Clan. Today is the day I live stream the Tornado Force Genius Battle, look—there are two Venerables in this genius battle, Venerables just like me, isn’t that impressive?"
"Among these two Venerables, one is the well-known intermediate genius from our 132 Star Zone, the familiar Lord Shang Ren. As for the other Venerable, he seems somewhat unfamiliar, likely another genius from afar. However, this genius is unlucky to have encountered our Lord Shang Ren."
One after another, the hosts and live streaming platforms began their commentary on the five-strong battles of the Tornado Force. The originally underestimated Tornado Force Genius Battle suddenly had a surge in streaming platform applications.
This was also a sight the Tornado Force was pleased to see; the reason they held genius battles was for fame and profit. For a force, holding a highly influential genius battle was a way to elevate its reputation.
"Lord Jia Yan, we have prepared a rest room for you."
Under the respectful escort of a Tornado Force Venerable, Jia Yan was led to a competitor’s rest room.
While he was certainly not tired, the hosts had invited every competitor to use the rest room to feel the status of the top five, and it would not be polite for Jia Yan to refuse.
Not long after, Jia Yan witnessed another battle on the field.
It turned out the top-five battle was a round-robin, meaning he would have to fight four battles, one against each opponent, which was similar to the top-ten battles of Er Tian’s Forces.
However, since the Tornado Force couldn’t host an event as grand, it had to resort to a round-robin for the top five.
"Quite impressive indeed," Jia Yan noticed that both contestants in the ongoing battle were Secondary Powerhouses, and their strength was far from ordinary. They seemed even stronger than Er Tian’s Forces’ Secondary Level Strongest Ones.
Still, among these two Secondary Powerhouses, there was a disparity in strength, and victory was quickly decided.
"Next up, Jia Yan versus Shang Ren!"
As the commentator called out the two names with spirited fervor, the entire audience first went silent and then erupted into thunderous applause.
"To witness a battle between two Venerable geniuses, we sure are lucky. Lord Shang Ren is an intermediate genius, and although Jia Yan’s origins are unknown, he must also be an intermediate genius; we’re fortunate to witness a battle between two intermediate geniuses, it’s incredibly lucky indeed."
"When was the last time we had an intermediate genius battle in our Tornado Force Genius Battle? A truly grand occasion, absolutely grand, just this alone makes the ticket price worth it today!"
Each and every audience member was extremely excited.
A battle between two intermediate geniuses was something they believed should not be missed, and those who didn’t make it to the scene would probably regret it immensely.
But Jia Yan did not pay heed to the excitement of the audience. After a casual smile, he walked out of the rest area.
And in another rest area not far from his, the door also opened, and Shang Ren’s lizard-like body slowly stepped out.
Upon seeing Jia Yan, a flash of sharp glint flickered in his eyes, followed by a discreet challenge of Brainwave Power aimed at him.
However, Jia Yan gave no response. The Brainwave Power he emitted seemed to disperse into nothingness upon contact with Jia Yan’s body, as if ineffective whatsoever.
"Interesting," the Blue Lizard sneered coldly, and then walked toward the arena from the passage entrance.
The two were greeted with countless cheers along the way.
"What do you think, in the fight between Lord Shang Ren and Jia Yan, who will win?"
"Is that even a question? Lord Shang Ren’s strength is at the Peak of Venerables, and they are both Intermediate Geniuses, but Jia Yan is bound to lose. He probably hasn’t even reached the Middle Period Respectable, the gap is too great."
"I’m not so sure about that. My impression of Jia Yan so far is very mysterious. I think he should at least be able to withstand twenty moves."
"Twenty moves? I think Lord Shang Ren won’t need more than ten moves to deal with him."
The whole spectator stand was bubbling with different opinions on the relative strengths of Jia Yan and Shang Ren.
But no matter how divergent the views, not a single person thought that Jia Yan could win. Simply because his Brainwave Power was only around the Middle Period Respectable level.
The discussions below could not affect the two geniuses preparing for battle.
Arriving at the arena, Jia Yan and the big lizard faced each other.
"Jia Yan, it’s not easy to meet a Medium Genius Honored One with similar strength. I hope you don’t surrender, fighting with you might provide gains for both of us," Shang Ren softly said to Jia Yan.
Although he spoke in such a manner, his tone carried a condescending attitude.
"I won’t surrender, just afraid you might surrender later," Jia Yan glanced at him and replied.
"Me surrender? Heh, seems like you have a decent background. But you are doomed not to go far if you can’t distinguish between strong and weak. It’s truly pitiful," the Lizard Monster shook its head with a feigned attitude.
"Pitiful? Heh..." Jia Yan paused, then shook his head helplessly.
He didn’t know where this Lizard Monster got its confidence from, nor did he understand where all the creatures present got their information, thinking he was merely a Medium Genius.
Is he, Jia Yan, only a Medium Genius?
Being compared to a Medium Genius is an embarrassment for Jia Yan.
"Alright, are both parties ready? If so, let’s start the battle!"
The Semi-permanent star Level Monster responsible for refereeing the geniuses’ battle on the side of the ring asked the two.
"Ready. Let’s fight and let strength speak," Jia Yan didn’t want to talk more with this lizard monster.
But he also didn’t plan to use his full power, as it wasn’t necessary against a Venerable, even if this Venerable was so-called Medium Genius. To Jia Yan, facing him was like facing a slightly stronger baby; there’s absolutely no comparison.
"Let the battle begin, I’ll let you attack first, come on!"
The Lizard Monster seemed to look down on Jia Yan as it took on a defensive posture, allowing Jia Yan to strike first.
"Hurry up and attack, or you won’t even get the chance once I make a move," the Blue Lizard taunted Jia Yan.
Jia Yan shook his head.
"Alright then, I’ll make a move."
Jia Yan took a gentle step forward.
His movement was excessively slow, but as his foot touched the ground, his body burst into an extremely fast beam of light!
"Heh, that’s more like it. Go full strength, let me see if you are worthy of making me act," Shang Ren, as if instructing a junior, mocked as he watched Jia Yan charging at him.
The figure of Jia Yan, the Mosquito, arrived in front of him, fast, but Shang Ren showed no sign of panic.
Just as the two were about to collide, Shang Ren, in disdain, moved his body slightly, preparing to dodge Jia Yan’s blow.
But at that moment, Jia Yan’s body vanished into thin air.
Whoosh!
With a soft sound, Jia Yan reappeared at Shang Ren’s side.
And the foot he thrust forward, still carrying the momentum of the charge, stabbed toward Shang Ren’s body!
"Huh?"
