The battle on the stage continued.
After the White Ape Monster was killed by Jia Yan, this Star Zone competition acquired a tint of blood, prompting some of the previously indifferent Secondary Powerhouses to finally get serious.
"Now this is more like it."
Jia Yan watched the ongoing battle, thinking that compared to the Respect Level battles, the Secondary Powerhouses could provide him with more experience.
However, there weren’t many battles involving Secondary Powerhouses, and they couldn’t compare in number to the Dignitaries. Soon after a round ended, it was Jia Yan’s turn to ascend the stage again.
"Zuo Wu versus Jia Yan!"
"Zuo Wu versus Jia Yan? Now this will be interesting. Zuo Wu is one of the stronger amongst the Secondary Powerhouses, at least a top-twenty contender. Jia Yan, a Respect Level against him, is clearly going to lose."
"Hehe, let’s just watch and see how this arrogant Respecter Level Genius is going to lose. I wonder which Medium Forces nurtured him. He’s probably at the peak amongst the Junior Geniuses. However, up against a Strong One from the Secondary Powerhouses, victory is impossible."
The audience at the side of the arena watched Jia Yan take the stage with a look of schadenfreude, seemingly not optimistic about his prospects.
Of course, they wouldn’t be optimistic; not many in the 132 Star Zone knew of Jia Yan’s image, and his previous killing of a Secondary Powerhouse could be perceived as offensive to the geniuses of the 132 Star Zone, especially since, even if a genius from the outside came to gain experience, they rarely killed anyone.
"Jia Yan, this is where you stop. Even if you stood at the peak of the Junior Geniuses within our 132 Star Zone, you can’t gain much fame."
Zuo Wu was a massive sponge-like monster, whose giant tentacles lashed out with thousands of strikes towards Jia Yan.
"Oh? So peak Junior Geniuses can’t make a name for themselves. Then, can the Intermediate Geniuses? Or perhaps even the High-Level Geniuses can?"
Jia Yan agilely leaped, avoiding the opponent’s attack.
"Talking about Intermediate and High-Level Geniuses? I think you’re merely a small Junior Genius. Intermediate Geniuses are not so easily encountered, let alone High-Level Geniuses. We don’t have High-Level Geniuses in the 132 Star Zone. Your claims to be one are laughable."
The sponge monster nearly burst into laughter upon hearing Jia Yan mention High-level Genius. High-Level Genius was an almost legendary existence in the 132 Star Zone. To the Sponge Monster at this moment, Jia Yan’s mention of High-Level Genius only worsened his impression of Jia Yan.
Who casually hangs on to legends in their daily speech?
Once more, Jia Yan evaded the tentacles’ attack, finding this type of assault even more familiar.
"Still dodging, let’s see where you can run to now!"
The sponge monster felt his pride at stake. He aimed behind Jia Yan, where a hundred tentacles tactically struck.
Jia Yan saw this and with six steps, he entered directly into Subspace.
"Using Subspace Power against me is useless!"
The sponge monster appeared to have anticipated this move from Jia Yan and quickly curled his myriad arms, striking toward a specific point in the space.
Slap slap slap!
In the seemingly empty space, the sound of whips cracking resonated.
And then, a vague figure in the air was almost about to become visible.
Turns out, this sponge monster possessed the ability to break through space with its attacks, making it impossible for Jia Yan to hide his form even in Subspace.
But just as the sponge monster was somewhat exhilarated, thinking he could defeat the Respect-Level Jia Yan, that faintly visible figure disappeared once more into the space.
"Impossible!?"
The sponge monster was shocked; its thousands of arms waving and thrashing outside the space, yet it was now ineffective!
"It seems you can’t decode my Spatial ability after all!"
As the monster grew frantic, Jia Yan’s voice emerged from behind him, followed by a forward thrust of Jia Yan’s forelimb.
In an instant, the sponge monster’s numerous arms went into defense, and Jia Yan only struck a few of those limbs, breaking several but unable to harm the monster’s True Body.
"Jia Yan, your Power really is great. Come on, continue the fight!"
Sensing how formidable Jia Yan was, the sponge monster finally stopped treating him as an ordinary Dignitary but as a formidable enemy.
"Continue the battle? No need, just accept your defeat!"
Having fully grasped his opponent’s combat techniques, Jia Yan no longer had any intention of dragging the battle on.
Thump!
Only to hear a crisp, sharp scream in the air, and then as the sponge monster was about to block, it felt its tentacles being chopped off one by one.
Then, a forelimb emitting a faint azure glow struck in front of its face.
"What is this glow..." The sponge monster stared at the azure glow before it, somewhat dazedly asking.
"I’m not going to tell you. Do you concede?" Jia Yan’s voice arose from behind the glow.
"I concede," said the sponge monster with a bitter tone.
"This match, astonishingly, goes to our super genius venerable, Jia Yan. Amazing, the peak sharpness of his attack, and the power of it, these simply couldn’t be the strength of an ordinary respectful one."
The commentator on the high platform was nearly going mad; Jia Yan’s appearance had caught them entirely off guard. Normally, even if a mid-level genius from a medium force came by, they would have heard some news beforehand, but Jia Yan was like a genius who suddenly popped out of nowhere, they hadn’t heard of him at all.
Jia Yan slowly walked out of the battle ring, this time, the gazes he received were somewhat different.
"Lord Jia Yan, you are a powerhouse among mid-level geniuses, aren’t you?"
Just as he stepped down, the six familiar dignitaries came up to him, especially the Leopard Monster who asked out of curiosity.
"If you think so, then let it be," Jia Yan said with a smile, then he proceeded to his contestant seat. His gaze swept subtly, looking towards the viewing room above the high platform.
"Interesting, this Jia Yan is declaring war on me," he said.
The lizard strong one on the high platform finally completely let go of the female lizard monster, no longer responding to her flirtations.
"Hehe, it seems he doesn’t know your strength, just let him wait. It would be quite a good thing to encounter you during the top ten battles among secondary powerhouses," said someone next to him.
"Exactly, don’t use Zuo Wu’s strength to arrange his upcoming matches. I’m afraid he won’t have the stamina to last until then," commented the lizard monster as it casually lay back down on the ground.
"This flying monster may well be a mid-level genius. Since that’s the case, as a senior, I should let him have a good look at the power of a mid-level genius like me."
"Right, although you’re also a dignitary, your brainwave power is much greater than his, and even in a battle of geniuses among secondary powerhouses, you could definitely secure a spot in the top three. After all, you are one of the top three invited by the Tornado Force, a dignitary reaching this level is absolutely a terrifying achievement in combat," praised the secondary powerhouse next to the lizard monster.
Of course, the lizard monster, being a genius, certainly had some self-awareness and adaptability.
"I’m not necessarily going to get a top three spot in your secondary powerhouse genius battle. After all, I am still but a dignitary. In a few years, when I’ve promoted to a secondary powerhouse, we’ll see. The first place will definitely be mine then," it spoke with a hint of awkwardness.
"Absolutely, not to mention that we from the Tornado Force are competing for the top spot in our star zone’s genius battle; when you become a secondary powerhouse, you might even take the first place in the entire 132 Star Zone’s genius battle."
"Uh..." Listening to the secondary strong one besides it butter him up so much, the lizard monster hesitated uncommonly.
"My power, well, if I promote to a secondary powerhouse, it might be possible to strive for a spot among the top fifteen of the entire star zone. But to go beyond the top ten, I still fall short, I need at least several more years of cultivation," it explained with some embarrassment.
Perhaps due to the results of the conversation in that room on the high platform, Jia Yan’s subsequent battles did not bring forth any opponent stronger than the tentacle monster.
And such battles, for Jia Yan, were naturally even more straightforward to win.
After consecutive battles, on the entire spectating platform, spectators one after another gradually found Jia Yan, this dignitary, unbelievable.
A dignitary winning a single match against secondary powerhouses might be luck and winning two could be chance upon chance, but to win three, four – that could no longer be explained by luck, but real power.
"Five consecutive victories! Contestant Jia Yan continues to win battle after battle. Coming next are the top twenty battles. Can contestant Jia Yan keep going?"
The commentators zealously narrated Jia Yan’s battles.
"What worries me is contestant Jia Yan’s stamina. As a respecter level genius, his strength is undoubtedly at the stronger level. Yet, he is still but a dignitary and has now fought five consecutive matches. I doubt whether contestant Jia Yan has sufficient stamina left; after all, he remains a dignitary, and his physical condition is incomparable to that of secondary powerhouses," one commentator said.
"Exactly, this is my concern too. I wonder if contestant Jia Yan will stop at the top twenty?" said another.
The two commentators continued to discuss Jia Yan. Although their views were not strongly contested, no matter how one listened, it sounded like they were smearing Jia Yan.
"Lord Jia Yan, you are amazing, reaching the top twenty among secondary powerhouses. Now your mid-level genius power will also become known to other creatures, and you’re going to be famous in our 132 Star Zone," exclaimed the Leopard Monster, with his admiration for Jia Yan practically reaching the pinnacle.
It must be noted that Jia Yan had directly defeated several secondary powerhouses whom he originally only looked upon from afar with great reverence; how could he not admire Jia Yan?
"Into the top twenty, huh? It seems that in this Tornado Force’s genius battle, not too many strong ones have shown up. Pity," said Jia Yan, only just realizing that he had entered the top twenty, shaking his head slightly.
