Chapter 1048: Chapter 20 The Presence of the Starry Sky Level - Peak [First Update]
The three-headed monster actually had a body towering two hundred meters tall, its fierce three heads, each capable of topping half the size of Jia Yan’s body.
It charged into view, its gaze upon Jia Yan so intense it seemed as if it wanted to swallow him whole.
The terror emanating from its body felt as though it could shake heaven and earth itself.
"Is this really just high-level star space? Damn, it’s almost on par with peak starry sky level in terms of energy!" Jia Yan stared with his Compound Eyes, looking somewhat gravely at the monster.
Glancing at Old Suo Wu, he had actually left him behind and was darting forward, his body faintly visible in subspace, almost becoming a ’Shadow’ that Jia Yan could hardly make out.
"This guy, he really isn’t afraid that I might turn around and leave," Jia Yan shook his head helplessly and then his heart turned cold!
Since there were treasures here that could enhance him to the Stellar level, he naturally couldn’t just walk away from a mountain of riches, especially since he didn’t know how long it would take to find his own way back.
Aargh!
The three-headed monster lunged with a terrifying momentum.
The opponent’s gigantic body was probably the biggest creature Jia Yan had encountered so far; looking at the three heads on the two hundred-meter body directly biting down at him, Jia Yan couldn’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable under its pressure.
However, high-level star space is still just high-level star space, even if its momentum was perhaps more terrifying than Rong Bo’s, the strength was still a lot less by comparison.
And as a high-level star space being himself, Jia Yan’s aura, though incomparable to the monster’s, might not necessarily be weaker!
Swish!
A lightning-fast ’Shadow’ struck after being launched first, aiming at one of the three-headed monster’s heads, hitting it right in the center of the forehead.
Aargh! The monster let out a ghastly roar; its head was pierced a fair way through by one of the front legs, but that was the extent of it. The hardness of the opponent’s skull seemed to have taken Jia Yan by surprise. As his front leg penetrated, it felt like hitting diamond-hard material and got firmly stuck in the bone.
Meanwhile, the other two heads of the three-headed monster raised up, aiming at Jia Yan’s head and biting down, seemingly indifferent to the injury of their fellow head.
Jia Yan’s expression remained unfazed, even as one front leg was stuck, but he calmly raised another front leg and aimed for one of the monster’s eyes.
In an instant, another head was severely injured. However, it was still not enough to kill the opponent.
The remaining head now approached Jia Yan with a fierce gust, biting down at his head with an overwhelming presence, as if it wanted to completely sever the Big Mosquito’s forehead.
But before it could, a mouth needle suddenly rose from Jia Yan’s forehead. Aiming at the monster’s head, he launched the sharp mouth needle!
In terms of hardness, Jia Yan’s mouth needle was not softer than his front leg, for it was an organ for feeding and, while it had not been of much use lately, it had retained its powerful toughness. Blasting out suddenly, the monster seemed completely unaware.
The mouth needle drilled into the opponent’s forehead, causing all the three heads to suffer injuries and the whole body shuddered violently.
Seizing this opportunity, Jia Yan quickly freed his attacking organs and looked at the other’s spraying misty mouth. His Compound Eyes flickered, and he abandoned the idea of attacking!
Even if he killed the opponent, it would just be a waste of energy with no benefit whatsoever.
Jia Yan moved and quickly passed by the three-headed monster and dived into the mist behind it.
The roar of the monster behind him instantly became distant, and Jia Yan had not even begun to feel relieved when he was suddenly shocked!
In front of him charged yet another similar three-headed monster!
"There are many of these monsters?"
Jia Yan’s expression froze, and he suddenly felt that Suo Wu was a bit inhumane, leaving him alone to face these monsters while using his superior speed to move ahead. It was also a bit uncomfortable for Jia Yan.
However, his discomfort with the other party wasn’t a new feeling, as he would have killed him several days ago if he had the ability.
Now, it was better to figure out how to break through!
Jia Yan’s speed was quickly leveraged; he didn’t dare to engage the front monster head-on but cleverly used the terrain to skirt around a small mountain. The monster hit the mountain peak, which might look tall to an average Earth person, but for a two-hundred-meter-tall creature, it was nothing but a bump that completely collapsed upon impact!
Boom, boom, boom!!!
The whole misty area was filled with thunderous roars and the sight of flying rubble.
Amidst the thick dust, a slightly smaller figure shot out of the area covered in the omnipresent dust, leaving behind the roaring echoes of the giant monsters within that region.
However, in front of this figure, another terrifying form was waiting for him.
"What a nuisance, but it seems these monsters have a strong territorial instinct. If I can dodge their attacks once or twice, I can break out of their territory without likely facing a combined assault from two of them."
The one who was speaking was, of course, Jia Yan. He was not too fearful of the monster that appeared in front of him but rather charged straight towards it.
The three-headed monster in front of him was almost a carbon copy of the two he had faced earlier, with similar strength. As Jia Yan approached, it angrily charged at him, all three of its heads opening their mouths to bite simultaneously.
Having seen such creatures often, the sense of mystery they held had diminished. For a being as supremely intelligent as Jia Yan, finding their weaknesses was easy—though they might have been strong and had impressive defenses, their attack methods were rather lacking, and they were even less adaptable in their attack patterns.
Armed with this knowledge, escaping from the monster’s clutches wasn’t as difficult for Jia Yan.
As the beast lunged towards him, Jia Yan twisted his body and, in the instant before they collided, dashed past the creature’s body.
The monster let out an earth-shattering roar and furiously turned to bite at Big Mosquito, but when its three heads swung around, they saw nothing.
Below its massive body, Jia Yan’s figure had already sharply turned in the moment of rotation, once again twisting and weaving through the immense lower body of the beast.
By the time the three-headed monster came to its senses, Jia Yan had already passed beneath this monster’s belly and headed into the territory of another three-headed monster far away!
"These monsters on their own aren’t too terrifying. What’s frightening is if they join forces, then that’s indeed an unimaginable power! Fortunately, it seems that they have no natural predators here and basically no chance of banding together, nor any intention of leaving this place. Otherwise, the Chaos Starfield would be not just dangerous but a complete death zone for those of Star Space Level."
As Jia Yan ran, he felt a sense of dread about these horrific three-headed monsters. If these creatures were to unite, even he, Jia Yan, would have to flee.
"Eh!?"
Just as Jia Yan was grateful that the monsters hadn’t united, he suddenly felt a tremble in his heart!
Directly in front of him were six pairs of eyes, faintly watching him.
The oppressive feeling coming from those six pairs of eyes was something Jia Yan had rarely encountered in his life—a degree of terror exceeding that of Rong Bo and even of Souwu when releasing his power. The dreadful three-headed monsters behind him paled in comparison to this new threat.
Hiss, hiss...
The owner of those six eyes stared at Jia Yan, its heads beneath the eyes emitting wisps of greenish-gray fog. Upon contact with the air, this fog made a sound as if it were undergoing a chemical reaction.
One should know that the air here was already a mixture of various toxic fogs, yet the fog sprayed by this monster still caused such a terrifying noise, indicating the potency of its poison.
Jia Yan found his movements momentarily stiffening.
The region he was now in had reached the two-kilometer mark mentioned by Souwu, which meant he was close to the supposed location of the Chaos Fruit—and the danger was made apparent by the monster before him!
Even exceeding Jia Yan’s expectations!
This monster was also a three-headed creature, but it was at the Peak Starry Sky Level!
In terms of terror, words couldn’t describe the difference between this beast and the High-space Level entities behind him—it wasn’t just the sheer aura of terror, but even in sheer size, this monster wasn’t the approximately Two Hundred Meters Level of the High-level star space creatures behind it, but rather a Giant Beast that reached two hundred fifty meters!
Consider that Jia Yan’s Single-person Battleship was only about three hundred meters long—meaning that the monster he now faced was about as large as his own battleship!
This monster had an immense aura and boundless power surging over its body’s surface. It seemed on the verge of breaking through the Starry Sky Level - Peak, to reach Lord Level strength.
Along with the advantage of the terrain, and the benefit of its massive size, its combat power could arguably be comparable to Old Suo Wu!
It was definitely a great enemy for Jia Yan!
"Roar!" In the eyes of the six-eyed beast, there appeared to be a much higher level of intelligence than that of the High-level star space creatures behind it. Its gaze on Jia Yan was filled with gravity, obviously acknowledging Jia Yan as an existence worthy of its full strength in battle.
A standoff ensued, fifty meters against two hundred fifty meters.
"Don’t fight him. Three kilometers straight ahead of you, there’s a hidden place that conceals the presence of living creatures. Try to enter without drawing his attention," whispered the voice of Old Suo Wu into Jia Yan’s antennae ears just when he thought an unavoidable battle was imminent.
"Hmm? So the old fellow has already made it here," Jia Yan glanced behind the Peak Starry Sky Level monster, seeing nothing, but he didn’t doubt. He shifted his six legs and steered clear of facing the beast directly, aiming to fly around to its rear.
