Chapter 100: In Another World... Again!? [2]

"What the freaking hell."

[What kind of trashy Isekai did you get yourself into, Kai?]

The figure standing in front of the mirror without a shirt turned his head to face the elegant form of a woman dressed in a white gown, her platinum blonde hair and blue eyes gleaming. "Should I be more surprised that you look like a total baddie, or more shocked about the body I’m in?"

[Well, I think you should be shocked about my appearance, considering you’ve reverted to your original form. Also, what’s with that ridiculous way of speaking?]

"I think it’s because I may have found my true calling when I entered this body."

Alpha, who hovered beside Kai like a ghost, gripped his shoulder and began to shake him. [Snap out of it, you idiot. Don’t let your soul get extinguished.]

"Stop... that, I think... you might... extinguish it before the other soul does," Kai muttered through clenched teeth.

He sighed, then turned back to the mirror, staring at his reflection for a while. He grabbed a hair tie and loosely tied his falling hair into a half-up ponytail.

’What the hell is even going on? I was just at the collapsed inn a moment ago.’

Kai didn’t want to believe it, but based on the appearance of the world and the dimmer color of the mana threads compared to those in Meltonia, he could tell...

This was inside Reni’s mind.

Not only that, but the news being broadcasted showed someone who looked exactly like Reni, except she had white hair and moonlight-gray eyes instead of black hair and golden eyes.

Still, aside from that, he couldn’t understand much.

How did she create an entire universe inside her head? He knew Weavers were strange beings, but did they truly possess the ability to create entire worlds?

Maybe it was due to her inheriting the bloodline of the Mad King, but that still didn’t explain the purpose this world served.

Kai turned on the tap and splashed water on his face, then left the room.

The reason he had stalled in the bathroom wasn’t just to gather his thoughts but also to craft a lie to tell the predecessor’s family about why he looked different.

Once done handling the immediate situation, he had planned to visit the owner of the body’s friend to check for any information about Reni, especially since he had already absorbed Arthur Arcain’s memories.

’Why didn’t this happen when I entered Kaiser Vanguard’s body...’ Kai paused, holding a blue shirt and vest in his hands. ’Does that mean I’m a demon who possesses people’s bodies now?’

He shook his head. Glancing at Arthur Arcain’s clothes, Kai couldn’t help but notice how small they were in contrast to his own body. ’They’re about the same size as the clothes I wore as Cha Jin-sung...’

Kai gripped his head as a splitting headache crashed through his skull.

[Are you okay?]

’Yeah, it usually happens to Hari and me when we try to remember our past selves.’

[Faceless, huh?]

’Pretty cool, right?’

Kai smiled, then opened the door of the small ash-colored room he was in. Since there weren’t clothes in his size, he’d just have to go out without a shirt and maybe borrow one from his father.

As he reached the hallway and then the living room, Kai froze. His smile faded, replaced by a frown.

He had noticed it back in the room but chose to ignore it, since many Korean houses looked alike, but now, standing in the hallway and looking into the spacious living area, Kai gritted his teeth.

This was his house back on Earth. Even if he forgot everything about his past life, how could he forget the home he grew up in?

[Don’t get mad, Kai.]

’I know Reni might not be aware of what she, or whatever she’s trapped us in, is showing me... And even if I do like her, I’ll still get my payback for her messing with the memories of my past life.’

[...]

’I haven’t even gotten her back for what she did in the council room.’

[I thought you said it was your fault?]

’It was, because I expected something when I was nothing but a commoner. But she did disgrace me, didn’t she?’

[I don’t know how girls can fall for you. Or maybe they just don’t know the real Kaiser Vanguard yet.]

Kai looked around the empty room, then stepped forward. ’What do you mean by that?’

[Haven’t you noticed it?]

’Hmm...’

[Your attitude changes every day.]

’Isn’t that a good thing?’

[I suppose gaining some confidence and self-awareness isn’t bad, but don’t forget who you are.]

Kai lingered for a moment, then began scanning the room until his gaze fixed on the slightly open door.

He narrowed his eyes and approached the door.

Soft chattering could be heard inside, and the person they were speaking to sounded both exhausted and awkward.

With a gentle push, Kai opened the door, only to lock eyes with a certain girl dressed in a standard blazer uniform, designed in a way best described as gyaru fashion.

Standing in front of her, and also in front of Kai, was a sky-blue-haired girl, beautiful yet a bit short from Kai’s vantage point.

The black-haired girl fidgeted slightly, and then both her cheeks and those of the two girls beside her flushed a deep red.

The sky-blue-haired girl who had her back to Kai turned her head slowly. Then, as if a spark had lit in her eyes, a flicker of recognition appeared. Before Kai could say anything, she spoke first.

"Oppa!"

"Hari?" Kai tilted his head slightly.

Hari, whose expression looked on the verge of tears, almost lunged at him but quickly composed herself in front of what appeared to be her friends. Kai couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia at the scene.

"Uhm..." Kai and Hari, subtly exchanging glances, turned toward a brown-haired girl with black eyes. "Hari, is this your... bo-boyfriend?"

Hari’s eyes widened, and both hers and Kai’s eyes turned completely dead. "No, never," they said in perfect unison.

Hari sighed, then pushed Kai back into the apartment and shut the door.

Kai stared at the closed door for a moment, then made his way to the living room and sat down. ’What the hell is even going on?’

He leaned back, waiting for Alpha to say something. But since she neither appeared nor spoke, Kai could tell she had exhausted her mana for the day.

Still, he didn’t need her for his brain cells to function properly. And he really didn’t even need to think that hard to piece everything together?

The world they were in hadn’t been created by Reni, it had always existed inside her. Just like the dark space he reformed when he fought Deerheart, and where he obtained the Star of Ruin after extracting his shadow.

That meant this was... "Reni’s soul sea."
