While Luo Qiao didn’t recognize the person, she recognized the voice—it belonged to the woman who had been with Gao Suhua the previous night. Luo Qiao nodded disdainfully and said coldly, "What is it?"

The woman said, "The brigade leader’s wife sent me to call you. There’s a table in the back courtyard where it’s quieter, and she wants you to join her there."

Luo Qiao snorted in her mind at their understanding of teamwork. She smiled and said, "Alright, I’ll go find her."

Feigning ignorance, Luo Qiao turned and walked towards the back courtyard. At the corner, she caught a glimpse with the corner of her eye of the woman entering the room the brigade leader’s wife had gone into, right after she herself headed to the back courtyard.

That room happened to have a view of the path leading to the back courtyard; they probably wanted to avoid suspicion by being seen with the brigade leader’s wife. Even if the villagers noticed she was missing, they wouldn’t suspect them.

They were somewhat clever, and from that room, they could keep an eye on who came and went in the back courtyard, ready to react if anything happened.

When Luo Qiao reached the back courtyard, she heard someone calling her. Zhao Xiaomei, feigning ignorance, asked, "Luo Qiao, what are you doing in the back courtyard?"

Luo Qiao coolly answered, "I’m here to find Auntie Gao from the brigade leader’s family."

Zhao Xiaomei uttered an "Oh" before saying, "Auntie Gao from the brigade leader’s family isn’t here. Did you get it wrong?"
