Chapter 696: Chapter 696 Waiting for the Flowers to Bloom

Wu Peiling watched the departing jeep and agreed with what her eldest daughter had said at heart: it would have been better if Li Li hadn’t been so impulsive before, as they could have sought Luo Qiao’s help in the future.

The Yao family’s youngest son, Yao Pengrui, glanced at his eldest sister, "Big Sister, you really are a talent."

Just as Yao Lili was about to retort, Yao Pengrui had already run out the gate, "Mom, I’m going to play with classmates for a bit, I’ll be back for dinner."

Yao Chengxuan glanced at his eldest daughter, "You’re getting married in just a few days, don’t go looking for trouble without cause."

After speaking, he left home to find someone to play chess with.

Yao Lili was now twenty and had gone through several matchmaking attempts without success. Recently, someone from the family compound introduced her to a man who drove a bus. The two got along quite well and were preparing to get engaged next month.

Remembering what Yao Chengxuan had mentioned, Yao Lili didn’t dare to act up any longer, for if this match fell through as well, her reputation would really be ruined.

Wang Linlin, Yao Pengfei’s wife, stood up with her hands on her waist; she really looked down on Yao Lili, her sister-in-law who was very selfish and spared no one with her sharp tongue.

When Yao Lili saw her sister-in-law heading back to the room, she said, "Sister-in-law, it’s almost time to cook, why are you going back to your room?"

Yao Pengfei stood up and helped his wife towards the room, "If you don’t have a brain, just don’t talk. You’re acting like a fool."

Yao Lili didn’t expect her Big Brother, who was usually not very talkative, to directly embarrass her today; she was so angry that she stomped her foot.

Wu Peiling took out the vegetables she needed to pick and began to pluck them while seated in the yard, "Don’t provoke your sister-in-law for no reason; she’s carrying your nephew in her belly."

Yao Lili said unhappily, "Who else has a daughter-in-law like her? She’s never really been in the kitchen since she married in, always eating ready-made meals every day."

Yao Pengfei, coming out of the house and quite furious, said, "You as a younger sister, always scheming against your sister-in-law all day long, what’s the point? If you really can’t stand it, then let’s just split the household."

Wu Peiling glared at her eldest daughter, "Why split the household when everything’s fine? Just don’t take Li Li’s words to heart; you know she doesn’t mean them."

Yao Pengfei wanted to say more but, recalling that Yao Lili would be married off in a few days, he said darkly, "I hope when you marry out, you can be a good daughter-in-law. Just don’t come back to your parents’ home complaining of being mistreated. Think about how you’ve treated your sister-in-law."

After speaking, he went back to his own room.

Left in the yard, both mother and daughter were stunned. Coming to her senses, Yao Lili was a bit angry, "Mom, what did my brother mean by that? Is he saying that even if I am mistreated at my in-laws’ place, I shouldn’t come back home?"

Wu Peiling, afraid her eldest daughter might make a fuss again, said, "Wasn’t that just your brother speaking in anger? If you really had a problem, he wouldn’t ignore you. But you really do need to change your temperament."

Yao Lili muttered under her breath, "Did I say anything wrong?"

Wu Peiling, thinking about her eldest daughter getting married soon, didn’t want her last few days at her parent’s home to be uncomfortable, so she said, "What you said wasn’t wrong, but there are special circumstances. Your sister-in-law has been suffering greatly from morning sickness; there’s really no helping it."

Yao Lili pouted, somewhat dissatisfied, "You just spoil her. Wait until she has the child, she’ll still have reasons for not doing anything. You’re just fated to be an old maid."

Wu Peiling said with a smile, "Alright, I know you’re upset for me, but the child in your sister-in-law’s belly will be the Yao family’s eldest grandchild, you have to care about that."

In the evening, after dining at the state-run restaurant, Luo Qiao and her companions returned the car, and then leisurely walked back.

If it hadn’t been for creating an opportunity for Second Brother, Luo Qiao might have taken the train back to the Capital tonight.

Xiao Ya was cheerful and a great match for Second Brother; more interaction could increase their chances of getting together soon. If it worked out, she would have played an indispensable role.

However, when it came to matters of the heart, she decided not to meddle too openly, providing a bit of help here and there, quietly waiting for the flower to bloom.

Early the next morning, Xiao Ya’s parents brought her to the train station to meet up with Luo Qiao and her companions.

"Qiaoqiao, over here, over here!"

They could hear Xiao Ya’s shouts from a distance. When Luo Qiao and her party approached, Xiao Ya introduced everyone.

Luo Qiao smiled and said, "Uncle, Auntie, hello."

Xiao Ya’s Mom, looking at Luo Qiao excitedly, said, "Qiaoqiao, Xiao Ya was able to get into such a good university, truly thanks to you. Uncle and Auntie are very grateful to you."
