Chapter 693: Chapter 693: Indulging a Child Is Like Killing a Child
The sound of a train whistle rose, and as the train slowly pulled into the station, Lu Yichen and Luo Qiao stepped out, only to see Luo Xuyuan and Xiao Ya waiting for them at the pickup area.
A smile instantly spread across Luo Qiao’s face, okay, she had previously felt that her second brother was truly wonderful, neglecting even the project he was working on for her sake, but now it seemed her matter was probably just incidental.
This was really a misunderstanding about Luo Xuyuan, haha.
If Luo Xuyuan knew what she was thinking, he would definitely give his sister a good knock on the head.
Luo Qiao laughed, "How come you both are here?"
Luo Xuyuan glanced at Xiao Ya beside him, "Came across Xiao Ya on the way to the train station, and when she heard we were coming to pick you up, she decided to join us."
Xiao Ya said, "Qiaoqiao, I really didn’t expect Song Wenbin to be that kind of person. He’s besmirched the reputation of No. 1 Middle School, and you wouldn’t believe the outrage—many parents went to the school demanding severe punishment for Song Wenbin.
Some even approached the government and the education bureau for an explanation. The city government is taking this issue seriously and has already directed the prosecutor’s office to launch an investigation.
And you don’t know how deceptive Song Wenbin is; he claimed his family was aware of the matter, and because of this, his mother and father were both suspended from work today."
Luo Qiao spoke softly, "There’s a saying, ’Indulging a child is like killing a child, and sparing the rod spoils the child.’ It’s certainly true."
She remembered when Song Wenbin’s parents brought Qiao Yu to apologize back in the day, and how Song Wenbin’s mom made excuses for her own son, with the apology coming from the mother instead. Qiao Aihong must be feeling indescribable emotions now.
Since Luo Qiao needed to return to Qingshan Village to handle her household registration transfer, Xiao Ya only chatted briefly and, after making arrangements to meet up the next morning, took her leave.
Luo Qiao noticed her second brother continually watching Xiao Ya until she was far away before he redirected his attention. Now she was even more certain that her cold second brother had truly found someone special.
Lu Yichen walked toward a jeep parked to the side and after a brief exchange with the driver, the man drove off. This was the vehicle Lu Yichen had borrowed from a comrade-in-arms the night before.
The three of them got into the jeep, and Luo Xuyan handed the admission notice to Luo Qiao, "Luckily we made it in time, any later and this thing might have been destroyed."
Luo Xuyuan said, "The parents of the other child whom he took the admission notice from are also heavyweights in Ji City. This time around, the Song Family is likely to pay dearly for their son’s foolishness."
Looking out at the passing scenery, Luo Qiao said indifferently, "Isn’t that as it should be? Song Wenbin turned out this way precisely because they enabled him. He’s in his twenties, but they still coddle him like he’s a three-year-old child. It was only a matter of time before trouble found him."
The car soon reached Qingshan Village, and to Luo Qiao’s surprise, as soon as they entered the village, they saw Song Family’s parents waiting outside the brigade office.
No sooner had Luo Qiao stepped out of the car than Qiao Aihong rushed over. Without a word, she tried to grab Luo Qiao’s hand, but Lu Yichen was quick to shield her behind him, "What are you trying to do?"
Qiao Aihong said, "Don’t get me wrong, I mean no harm. I just want to ask Luo Qiao to forgive my son."
Luo Qiao felt no pity for Qiao Aihong as she passed by her toward the brigade office.
When Secretary Gao Jiefang saw Luo Qiao approaching, he asked, "Luo Qiao, what exactly happened here?"
After Luo Qiao gave a brief explanation, Gao Jiefang remarked, "They’ve got the gall to come asking for favors, still calling themselves intellectuals, they’re truly shameless."
This comment was heard loud and clear by Song Wenbin’s father, Song Zhixiong, who was passing by. His face turned so red it seemed as if it would bleed, yet he still brazenly approached, "Luo Qiao, I know you must despise us for doing this, but as a father, I had no choice. I ask for your understanding."
Luo Qiao looked at Song Zhixiong, "I’m sorry, but I can’t understand, because you are Song Wenbin’s parents, willing to protect your own son at the expense of harming others. You really have quite the nerve."
Then she turned to Gao Jiefang and said, "Uncle Jiefang, I’ve come back to transfer my household registration."
Gao Jiefang, looking at Song Zhixiong with disdain, turned and walked into the brigade office’s courtyard, "Getting parents to clean up their messes, that’s how children are ruined by parents like these."
Song Zhixiong stood there, his mind going blank with a bang.
