Chapter 660: Chapter 660 I Was Somewhat Discomposed
Luo Qiao saw her second brother like this and felt her own eyes turning red. Big Brother and Second Brother have different temperaments, so it was good for him to have such a cry.
When his emotions had stabilized, he finally said, "Sorry, I got a bit carried away."
After venting, Luo Xuyuan seemed like a completely different person, even more cheerful and sunny than before.
Grandpa and Grandma might not have understood what the Second Brother meant earlier, but Luo Qiao did. Although she didn’t know much about mechanics, she understood the importance of the compressor.
Stepping forward, she said, "Second Brother, congratulations."
Luo Xuyuan smiled and replied, "Thank you. If I’ve achieved anything today, half of it is thanks to Qiaoqiao. So I should be the one thanking you."
Luo Xuyuan continued, "Qiaoqiao, I bought you a watch. I know you already have one, but I think this one suits you better, and you can alternate between them."
Then he brought out a big bag of expensive supplements for Grandpa and Grandma, "Grandpa, Grandma, please rest assured, from now on I will take good care of you. Although Big Brother and I are your grandsons, it’s no different from having raised two sons.
So we will provide for your old age and ensure you have a comfortable life ahead. I believe our family will only get better. Don’t hesitate to eat these supplements, and when you finish them, I’ll buy more for you."
He then handed another bag to his sister-in-law, Woo Yunmei, "Sister-in-law, this is for you. It contains some nutritional products to supplement my little nephew and niece as well."
Finally, turning to Luo Xuyan, he pulled out a Hero fountain pen and handed it to him, "Big Brother, I give this to you, hoping it will accompany you on your path to glory."
Now, Big Brother was not only learning various musical instruments but also studying composition and even trying to write his own music. It seemed like he had an innate ability related to music which he could grasp much faster than others.
This year, upon the start of the new semester, he would officially become a junior in college, essentially skipping grades. He had already completed all the courses for his freshman and sophomore years. The professors at the music academy were quite fond of him, saying he was born for music.
During dinner, when Luo Xuyuan heard that the family was planning to install a telephone, he said, "I’ll pay for it. It would be my way of doing something for Grandpa, Grandma, and our home. It will make me feel better."
And so it was decided.
Luo Daoren said, "Since your Second Brother has said so, let him take care of the telephone installation. We, the old couple, will enjoy our blessings."
Luo Qiao joked, "Alright then, Second Brother, you keep making money, and if anyone ever bothers me, I’ll smash them with money. That’s how awesome I am."
Zhou Guifang, watching her granddaughter’s antics, laughed, "You’re getting more and more outrageous."
Embracing her grandmother’s neck, Luo Qiao said, "I’m just making a comparison, right? Just showing off how bold I can be."
This remark made everyone laugh.
After dinner, while watching TV, Luo Qiao prepared the filling and, before going to bed, also made sure the dough was ready and left to rise for tomorrow’s soup dumplings. She also cleaned and soaked the beans for the next morning’s eight-treasure porridge and only then went upstairs to rest.
She entered her room, closed the door, and went straight into her personal space.
Over the past few days, she had brewed a batch of peach blossom wine in her space and, noting the nearly depleted jars, thought she needed to buy more to keep in stock.
On her free days, she would sketch some designs and write short stories in her space.
She had already written six novels, and the one in her hand was her seventh. She thought about stopping after completing ten, aiming for perfection.
In the future, she could write essays for publication, not with such a strong goal in mind, but just to make money.
To write at leisure, to follow one’s own mood, to write for pleasure—that was enough.
Looking at the unfinished painting of the Eight Galloping Horses on her embroidery frame, she realized it was the fourth piece she had embroidered, and it was almost complete.
The next day, Lu Yichen arrived early. Luo Qiao’s eight-treasure porridge was ready, and the soup dumplings had just come out of the steamer—the timing was perfect.
Accompanied by salted duck eggs and the pickled cabbage she had prepared earlier, it was a perfect meal!
Woo Yunmei remarked, "These soup dumplings are really delicious."
Seeing that everyone was enjoying their food made Luo Qiao happy too, "If Sister-in-law likes them, feel free to have more. Whenever you feel like eating them, I’ll make some for you."
Woo Yunmei felt comforted deep inside, thinking how at ease she was in the Luo Family.
She had a colleague whose sister-in-law was always causing trouble, to the point where she dreaded going home after work. Over time, it even started to affect her relationship with her husband. Having a considerate sister-in-law in the family was so important.
Even her own sister was envious of her good fortune.
