He had fought to take on this errand just to drop by and see her. Once inside, he shut the door, threw the items on the ground, and took her into his arms, whispering in Luo Qiao’s ear, "Qiaoqiao, I’ve missed you."

Luo Qiao’s hands were still damp, and as she held them up, she decided to tease him, "Where did you miss me?"

Lu Yichen knew she was teasing him again. He let go of her waist, took her face in his hands, and went straight in for a passionate kiss.

Lu Yichen spoke indulgently, "Okay, they’re mine. Why did you bolt the front door? Has someone been giving you trouble?"

Luo Qiao looked up at Lu Yichen, "The Wang Family kids next door stay around my front yard all the time. They quietly came in last time and ruined a pot of my cooking, so I need to be cautious."

Lu Yichen asked, "Are they still bothering you now?"

Luo Qiao shook her head, "Not anymore. That day, I was gardening in the backyard, and the kids came in when the front yard was empty. They were probably just hungry, so they took the ribs that were stewing in the pot. I caught them red-handed, but it wasn’t a big issue."

The two of them carried the items from the ground into the kitchen. Luo Qiao checked the contents inside, all of which were foodstuffs, "Why did you bring so much food?"

As Lu Yichen rolled up his sleeves to get to work, he explained, "They’re all things you like to eat. I had my aunt prepare them right before I got into the car. With the weather getting hot, they won’t keep long, so we should finish them in the next day or two.

Also, try on those two outfits later. If they don’t fit, I’ll exchange them for you. The salesperson said they’re this year’s trendiest, and I thought they looked pretty, so I bought them."

Luo Qiao walked up behind Lu Yichen and hugged him, "Brother Chen, thank you."

Lu Yichen, while stirring the pot, replied, "So easily moved."

Luo Qiao didn’t let go, pressing her face against his back, "Not at all. I’m just happy that you’re here, so I won’t have to clean up the dishes and kitchen. You don’t think those two outfits alone could move me, do you?"

Lu Yichen checked the seasoning, then covered the pot, "Of course not. My girl has more money than me. How could two outfits move her? Surely, it was the surprise that did it. I can stay at least three days here, so for these three days, the dishes and the kitchen are mine, and so are you."

Turning around and pulling her back into his embrace, he added, "How about after your college entrance exams in Capital City, we get engaged, okay?"
