Chapter 576: Chapter 576 How did you know I was coming back today

Luo Qiao heard their conversation and glanced at her own tea jar, fearing the old lady would soon say, "Girl, lend your tea jar to granny for a moment."

She really didn’t want her personal items to be used by others.

Seeing the little boy’s big eyes shimmering, he said, "Granny, I’m getting thirsty."

The old lady was also starting to worry, and Luo Qiao, looking at the little boy, finished the water in her tea jar on the table, used her bag as cover to take out a can of mandarin oranges from inside, and poured half into her tea jar.

She handed the remaining half to the little boy, "This is for you. After you finish eating, you can use it to drink water. It will make a good cup, too."

The little boy swallowed and hesitated, but didn’t take it, instead turning to look at his grandmother. The old lady said, "How can we accept this? Canned fruit is such a precious thing."

Luo Qiao said, "It’s too hot today and the fruit might spoil if I don’t finish it. I’ve already poured half into my jar. Let the child eat it; the can will make a good cup afterward."

Looking at her grandson, the old lady was persuaded and signaled for him to accept it, saying, "Thank you, miss."

Luo Qiao smiled, "It’s nothing."

Unlike other children who might keep such treats to themselves, the boy shared, offering his grandmother every other piece; if she refused to eat, he wouldn’t eat either. There wasn’t much in the can, and they soon finished it, after which the old lady and her grandson started filling the empty can with water.

Not long after, the food cart came by, but Luo Qiao had no appetite due to the heat. However, the little boy’s stomach began to growl at the sound of the vendor’s call.

The boy felt embarrassed, blushing and bowing his head.

Luo Qiao noticed the old lady across from her take out a rice ball from her belongings, "Here, darling, grandma brought a rice ball for you."

Despite his rumbling stomach, the little boy said, "Granny, let’s eat together."

The old lady insisted, "I have flatbreads, you eat the rice ball."

The grandmother and grandson went back and forth offering food to each other, touching Luo Qiao deeply. As the dining cart approached, she stopped it and ordered a serving of cabbage with vermicelli and braised meat, and another serving of rice.

Taking a lunch box from her bag, she spooned a third into it and pushed the rest across the table, "Old lady, please share this with your grandson. It’s hot and I don’t have much of an appetite. It would be a waste to throw it away; better that you help me eat it."

The old lady didn’t know what to say, appearing a little flustered, "No, no, we’ve already taken your canned fruit. We can’t take your food as well."

Luo Qiao said with a smile, "I mean it, Granny. It’s too hot, and I don’t have much of an appetite. It would be a real pity to waste it."

Looking at her grandson, the old lady expressed her gratitude, "Miss, thank you so much for today."

Lu Ningzhou had been watching everything from behind Luo Qiao.

After finishing her meal, Luo Qiao got up to wash her lunch box and noticed Lu Ningzhou a few steps away, to which she said with a smile, "What a coincidence."

Lu Ningzhou looked tired and a little worse for wear but returned the smile, "I recognized you earlier, and thought to come say hello after you finished eating."

Luo Qiao smiled, "I’ll go wash the bowl first."

When Luo Qiao returned, the passenger sitting next to her had just swapped seats with Lu Ningzhou, who moved next to her.

As she put away her things, Luo Qiao asked, "Where are you traveling for business this time?"

Lu Ningzhou sighed, "I went to take care of some things."

Seeing that Lu Ningzhou did not want to elaborate, Luo Qiao didn’t press further. The two of them eventually started talking about other things, and Lu Ningzhou, seeing that Luo Qiao knew quite a bit despite her young age, ended up sharing some of his troubles.

Luo Qiao learned then that Lu Ningzhou had a clothing factory in Capital City. He had gone to ask a friend for help due to financial issues, but his friend wasn’t doing too well either and Lu Ningzhou couldn’t bring himself to ask for money. After staying a night, he bought a ticket and left.

Time flies when in good company. They reached Capital City before long and as soon as she stepped out of the train carriage, Luo Qiao saw Lu Yichen. Her face immediately lit up with a beaming smile as she ran towards him.

With a coy and delightful expression, she said, "How did you know I was coming back today?"
