Chapter 567: Chapter 567 Declaring Sovereignty
Lu Yichen said, "No problem, I was going to visit that area anyway, so it’s on my way."
After getting up to rinse her mouth, Luo Qiao collected her things and came out: "Grandpa, Grandma, we’re leaving now."
The elders saw them to the main entrance, where Luo Daoren advised, "If you’re going to learn, learn well. Look more, talk less, and don’t hesitate to ask if you don’t understand."
Luo Qiao nodded: "I understand, Grandpa."
Watching them leave, Zhou Guifang said, "Old man, should we talk to Qiaoqiao about this tonight?"
Luo Daoren replied, "Talk about what? And how to say it? Nowadays, people are into free love, and besides, I think Yichen is a good kid. Being a few years older, he would be more caring."
Zhou Guifang retorted, "What are you rambling about? There’s not even a hint of that, and what kind of grandfather talks like that? Besides, is that what I meant?"
Luo Daoren asked, "Then what do you mean?"
Zhou Guifang glanced outside the gate and turned to walk back, "I mean, she should keep it low-key. Qiaoqiao is still young. Who can be certain about matters of the heart? If it doesn’t work out later, we’ll just end up being the subject of gossip."
Luo Daoren picked up some seeds, preparing to plant the seedlings: "Worry less, what era do you think we’re living in? Do you think it’s still the days of arranged marriages? It’s perfectly normal to date for a while and see if it works out or not."
"Besides, Yichen used to be a soldier, and if not for his injury, he probably would still be in the army. Judging by his conduct and character, there’s absolutely nothing to criticize. Relax, Qiaoqiao knows what she’s doing," he added.
Zhou Guifang simply believed that it was better to stay low-profile before anything was set in stone, as being too conspicuous would only fuel those who love to gossip should anything go awry.
Lu Yichen opened the passenger door for Luo Qiao to get in comfortably. Then he walked around to the other side, started the car, and glided out. Turning his head to look at Luo Qiao, he then reached out to pull her hand into his.
With her other hand, Luo Qiao lightly smacked the back of his hand: "Focus on driving."
Lu Yichen didn’t let go but tentatively asked, "Qiaoqiao, once we get to the driving school and others ask who I am, what should I say?"
Luo Qiao, holding back a laugh, responded, "How do you want to say it?"
Lu Yichen cleared his throat, "Well, considering that place is mostly men, if they knew you’re already spoken for, they wouldn’t dare to have any ulterior motives. It could save a lot of trouble since you’ll be studying there for quite a while."
Luo Qiao looked at him with a semblance of a smile, "Are you dropping me off today to stake your claim?"
Lu Yichen laughed, "You saw through that, huh?"
The two of them chatted and laughed on their way to the driving school. There was no mention of the severe traffic jams of the future; it was truly just a matter of stepping on the gas.
They drove directly into the driving school, where Lu Yichen dropped Luo Qiao off. She already knew which instructor she had from yesterday, as each one had a designated garage.
This batch of students had already been learning for over ten days, and everyone was waiting for their instructors to arrive. Luo Qiao approached and greeted them, "Hello, I’m Luo Qiao, the new transfer student."
There were more than twenty students in this batch, including only one female student, whose eyes lit up immediately. She stepped forward, "Hello, I’m Chu Yaqi. Now I finally have someone to keep me company."
Then Chu Yaqi introduced Luo Qiao to the twenty-some students behind her. After completing the introductions, she whispered, "Who was the person who dropped you off? He’s quite handsome."
Lu Yichen overheard Chu Yaqi and stepped forward, stating, "Good day, everyone. I’m Lu Yichen, Luo Qiao’s significant other."
He wasn’t one for polite platitudes. Instead, he pulled out a box of cigarettes and distributed one to each of the male students. One box wasn’t enough, so he took out another from his pocket, and by the time he finished giving out the cigarettes, the instructor had arrived.
Luo Qiao introduced herself again, and the instructor, Master Liang, concealed a frown: "I’m Liang Daqing. You can just call me Master Liang."
Holding her head high but without arrogance, Luo Qiao greeted, "Hello, Master Liang."
The truth was, Master Liang didn’t really want to teach female students, as they tend to get tearful when spoken to sternly and complain about dirt and fatigue, which was quite infuriating.
He already had one female student in this batch who was troublesome. Now another one had joined, and she was someone the principal had personally discussed with him, instructing him to teach her one-on-one and ensure she could graduate and get her license quickly.
