Luo Qiao went over to answer the phone, "Hello, who’s this?"

"Where are you? Why is it so noisy?"

After saying goodbye to Uncle Sun, she continued walking forward with Stone.

When they got to the cinema, they saw that the next screening was "Happiness Is Coming," which was released last year. After purchasing tickets and seeing there was still some time, Lu Yichen stepped out and came back holding two bags of candied fruits.

Once inside, Stone was excited. Lu Yichen told him to sit inside, followed him in, nestled two bags of candied fruits in one arm, and took Luo Qiao’s hand to walk further down the aisle.

After Stone sat down, Lu Yichen handed him one bag of candied fruit. Stone had initially wanted to change seats, but the lights dimmed and the screen started playing the movie, forcing him to give up the idea and focus on the movie.

Lu Yichen passed the other bag of candied fruit to Luo Qiao, then whispered, "Be careful when you eat; some haven’t had their pits removed."

The film depicted the life of a peasant family in the north of China. They watched and ate candied fruit, but there was nowhere to dispose of the pits. That’s when Lu Yichen reached out his hand, signaling her to put the pits in his hand.

Luo Qiao initially felt a little embarrassed, but Lu Yichen insisted, saying he would wash his hand later—it was actually planned, as he purposely hadn’t taken the kraft paper bag that was in the car.

The pits from Stone’s fruit also ended up in Lu Yichen’s other hand, and Luo Qiao had no choice but to periodically ’feed’ Lu Yichen a pit, which made him exceedingly happy inside.

After leaving the cinema, Lu Yichen washed his hands and then took them both home, agreeing to come over for a New Year’s visit the next day.

When the siblings entered the house, they saw their third and fourth brothers cleaning up in the yard. Luo Qiao asked, "What are you guys doing?"

The third brother, Luo Siyan, said, "Qiaoqiao, I just got a call. I have to return to the unit."

Luo Qiao said, "Then wait for me a moment."

Knowing that military orders were not to be disobeyed, she didn’t say anything more. She went into the house under the pretense of fetching a bag and took out some hemostatic medicines she had made in her space.

After walking out of the yard, she handed them to her third brother, "Do you still have the ones I gave you last time? Take these for now, and I’ll make some more and send them to you later."

Luo Siyan put them in his bag, looked at the people in the yard, and said, "Then, I’m leaving now."

Luo Siyuan also said, "Tomorrow, a colleague’s family has an emergency and asked me to cover his shift. I need to get there early, so I’m going back to the factory area tonight. It’s also a good chance to cook dinner for Dad."

Zhou Guifang packed a large bag of food for each of them before letting them leave. Luo Qiao and Stone accompanied them out of the alley, watching as the bus approached from a distance.
