Chapter 487: Chapter 487: Wei Zixiong’s Calculations

After sending everything off, I let myself go in Inner Mongolia. I had so much fun every day that the beautiful scenery made it hard to leave—fragrant flowers everywhere, the lingering touch of graceful grass.

In the end, I returned to Ji City the day before the midterm exams. Lu Yichen and Stone had been rushing over to Luo Qiao’s after work and school these past few days, just to see if she had come back, but unfortunately, there was no sign of her for days.

Seeing the open gate, both of them thought to themselves that she really didn’t come back until the last day—playing wild outside.

As soon as the two entered the courtyard, they smelled barbecue. Stone ran straight in: "Sis, you’re back?"

Hearing Stone’s shout, Luo Qiao hurriedly came out and said, "School’s over, go and wash your hands, dinner will be ready soon."

After saying that and seeing Lu Yichen coming in behind, she added, "You two are almost here one after the other, go wash your hands and eat."

Lu Yichen saw the burning charcoal at the kitchen door and the rack next to it, which they had used to roast rabbit before: "You’re making barbecue?"

Luo Qiao laughed: "The barbecue I brought back has cooled down, and it couldn’t be left out any longer, so I reheated it."

Actually, it was just for show, but she had taken it out of the space early anyway, afraid that it wouldn’t taste as good as when it was first brought out.

In Capital City, Wei Zixiong had finally secured a job, but his mind was not on his work. Instead, he was thinking about how to ingratiate himself with others. He had somehow learned that the small son of their chemical plant manager was looking for a match.

Because the son was not very attractive and, relying on his father’s power and being spoiled by his mother, he did not have a good reputation in the factory, most families were not willing to marry their daughters off to such a person.

Yet there were those who sought a shortcut and tried to pull strings; the factory manager’s young master looked down on their daughters.

Having learned this, Wei Zixiong set his sights on Zhao Jianing. The girl was fairly good-looking, and if things worked out, his days in the factory would become much better, at the very least a job transfer would be no problem.

These days, he brought little gifts for Zhao Jianing frequently, making her particularly grateful. Their relationship also subtly changed, of course, all behind Ning Xueling’s back.

The next day, Luo Qiao arrived at school early and went to the homeroom teacher’s office first, gently knocking on the door. Teacher Ge looked up and saw Luo Qiao: "You timed your appearance well, haven’t fallen behind on your studies, have you?"

Luo Qiao smiled: "Not at all, I’ve been reviewing and doing practice questions every day."

Then she placed a small bag on Teacher Ge’s desk and said, "I took a trip to Inner Mongolia recently. This is some of their cheese, I brought some for you to try."

After saying this, before Teacher Ge could respond, she added, "This isn’t meant as a bribe, okay? It’s an exchange for those worksheets you gave me before. I’m heading to the classroom now."

Luo Qiao turned and ran into the classroom where many students had already arrived. Xiao Ya pounced on her as soon as she saw her: "You still know to come for the exam, huh? Where have you been these days?"

Luo Qiao laughed: "I went on a long trip, let go of me for now."

After Xiao Ya let go, she took some notes out of her desk: "There’s still some time, do you want to look through them?"

Then, a female classmate nearby said sarcastically, "You haven’t attended class for half the term, even if she gave you fertilizer, it wouldn’t help now, nor would looking through notes."

Luo Qiao turned to look over, not recognizing the girl. Xiao Ya whispered, "She transferred to our class after school started."

Luo Qiao ignored the girl who was looking for trouble. Proving her wrong with facts was more convincing.

The two-and-a-half-day exam ended, and when the results for each subject came out, Luo Qiao slapped the face of the transfer student with her strength.

Luo Qiao had thought about skipping grades to take the college entrance exam, but considering she wanted to study medicine, which would take at least five years, and the wealth of new material she would need to learn in university, it just wasn’t feasible to keep asking for time off. So she did not want to skip grades in high school: she wanted to finish what she desired to do, to play to her content, and then attend university with peace of mind.
