Thinking of her master and his wife, and how strained their relationship with their three children was right now, she hoped that in a few years, they would reconcile. If they didn’t, she resolved to care for them in their old age. After all, she would take good care of them in the future.

They had imparted their lifetime of knowledge to the original owner, a kindness she knew she must never forget. This reminded her that her master had mentioned a traditional Chinese medicine qualification exam coming up in May; she could simply go and take it then.

Her master had thought to arrange a special exam just for her, but Luo Qiao had refused. She didn’t want her master to owe someone a favor because of her and to spare herself from idle gossip.

Anyway, she was going back to Capital City in May, so she might as well take the test with everyone else.

Luo Qiao had slaughtered a large wild boar in the space; she was truly grateful for the few months during the apocalypse she’d experienced in her past life. Without it, she couldn’t have managed. She also prepared several rabbits.

She made lots of five-spice jerky, meat sauce, and spicy sauce. She also brought some cured meat and fish she had made before, as well as pickled spicy cabbage and radishes. She divided them into two parts, one for her master’s family and one for her grandparents.

Thinking that Lu Yichen was also returning home, she prepared a portion for him as well, a small token of her sentiments.

That evening, Lu Yichen came back and said, "Stone won’t be coming back for dinner tonight; I ran into him earlier. His classmate’s grandfather is celebrating his birthday and he was dragged along to the celebration."

Luo Qiao said, "It might be inappropriate for him to attend someone else’s family celebration."

Lu Yichen finished parking the car and replied, "Stone gets along well with that classmate. I happened to have just bought some pastries, so I let him bring those as a gesture."

Relieved, Luo Qiao truly treated Stone like a younger brother and didn’t want him to suffer any slight.

Luo Qiao said, "Then let’s wash up and eat – and afterwards, I have something to tell you."

The dinner table showcased the jerky she had made that day, alongside noodles cooked with meat sauce and spicy sauce. It all smelled delicious.

After dinner, once Lu Yichen had cleaned up the kitchen and helped Luo Qiao boil water, she said, "Go ahead, what do you want to talk about?"

Luo Qiao said, "When I returned to Capital City this time, I treated my eldest and second brothers, as well as two elders’ leg ailments, and the results were quite good. I think I might be able to heal your leg. Do you trust me?"

Upon hearing Luo Qiao’s words, Lu Yichen’s heart started racing. When he had been injured, the doctors had said that only a miracle could heal him, and now Qiaoqiao was saying she might be able to do just that. It was an enormous shock.

Luo Qiao said, "Actually, I’m very confident. My medical skills were personally taught by my master. You should let me try."

After the initial excitement, Lu Yichen said without hesitation, "I trust you."

Luo Qiao smiled and asked, "When will you be going to Capital City?"

Lu Yichen replied, "I’m leaving tomorrow. I should be back in a week at most. If all goes well, perhaps three or four days."

Luo Qiao smiled, "Then, once you’re back from Capital City, I’ll start treating you. Don’t worry; it won’t interfere with your regular work. We can do the treatment after hours."

After finishing the conversation, Luo Qiao brought out the prepared items and produced a package for each family, "It’s a bother, but could you help me deliver these? I’ve also prepared something for you, a small gesture of appreciation."

When Lu Yichen heard he had also received a package, warmth flooded his heart, and his eyes couldn’t hide his joy, "Thank you, Qiaoqiao."

Luo Qiao, looking at the three packages, said, "Will they be difficult for you to carry? Do you have a lot of things?"

Lu Yichen glanced outside at the sky and started with some concern, "It seems it might get even colder tomorrow..."

Before he could finish, Luo Qiao interjected, "That’s settled, then. Stone and I will go with you tomorrow."

Feeling a blaze of warmth inside, and afraid he might not be able to contain himself, Lu Yichen checked the time and quickly said, "I’ll go pick up Stone. We’ll come over early tomorrow morning."
