Chapter 357 Viewing the House

Chapter 357: Chapter 357 Viewing the House

"It all depends on whether someone recognizes the quality. The Tiong Family’s house is built with the finest stones and wood. Don’t just look at the green brick facade; it’s a cut above the rest.

Besides, ten thousand may sound like a lot, but have you seen how large their courtyard is?"

"You’re right, their courtyard is easily more than twice the size of ours. Given the area, the price they’re asking for is quite reasonable. Last year, the old Zhang Family’s courtyard alone sold for five thousand, so the Tiong Family’s asking price of ten thousand really isn’t expensive."

"Indeed, if the family wasn’t so eager to leave this place of sorrow and in such a hurry, the house wouldn’t be this price."

Luo Qiao had been listening for a while and finally understood that a house nearby was for sale, and it had quite a large courtyard. By their conversation, it seemed the house had only recently been taken back and must have been divided among many households before.

The family was about to depart and urgently needed to sell. Luo Qiao was delighted, so she didn’t bother asking these people any more questions since they were discussing it openly, surely everyone nearby knew as well.

She walked on and found a child to ask, "Hey kid, do you know which one is the Tiong Family selling the house?"

Before the child could reply, an elderly lady with a kind face emerged from the courtyard and said, "Young lady, are you looking to buy a house?"

Luo Qiao replied, "Yes, I’m looking around this area to see if there’s something suitable. I heard the Tiong Family is selling their house, so I came to have a look."

The old lady smiled and said, "The Tiong Family’s house isn’t bad, but it does need a lot of work."

Pointing ahead, she added, "It’s that one over there where you can see treetops over the wall. There should be someone there now; you can go have a look."

Luo Qiao thanked her and pulled out a few candies from her pocket, offering them to the child, "Here’s some candy for you."

The boy didn’t just grab the candy but looked up at the elderly lady instead. The old lady smiled and said, "What do you say when your sister gives you something?"

The boy beamed, reaching out to take the candy, "Thank you, sister."

Luo Qiao said with a smile, "You did great."

After saying goodbye to the grandmother and grandchild, she headed towards the courtyard in question.

Approaching the entrance, Luo Qiao saw the door was open and heard voices inside. She listened carefully and heard someone say, "Mr. Tiong, we actually really like this house, but the price is just too high. We need to go back and discuss it."

"I understand, I understand. However, I must tell you upfront that I won’t hold the house for anyone. If someone meets my price, I’ll sell it immediately. I’m just giving you a heads-up, and I hope you can forgive us."

"We understand, we understand. We’ll come over in a few days after we’ve talked it over. You go ahead with your business; we’ll be leaving now."

Hearing this, Luo Qiao instinctively stepped aside to the edge of the gate and watched a man and a woman walk out from inside. The man said as they departed, "Mr. Tiong, please wait a moment."

After the couple had walked some distance away, Tiong Qingfeng at the gate finally noticed Luo Qiao standing outside and was momentarily surprised before he said with a faint smile, "Why is the young lady standing here?"

Luo Qiao pointed at the branches poking out from over the courtyard wall, "I was looking at what kind of tree this is."

Tiong Qingfeng asked with a smile, "Have you figured it out?"

Luo Qiao nodded, "If I’m not mistaken, it’s a jujube tree, right?"

Tiong Qingfeng looked at Luo Qiao, "Are you also here to look at the house?"

Luo Qiao chuckled, "Yes, did uncle figure that out?"

Tiong Qingfeng gestured her inside, "Then please come in and have a look."

Luo Qiao didn’t play coy; as she walked in, she asked, "Aren’t you afraid I’m just joking around?"

Tiong Qingfeng replied, "I’ve been showing this house for days on end and have lost count of how many people I’ve guided through. It holds my childhood memories and those of our family’s happiness. But once this house is sold, it will belong to someone else.

So I want to take this last chance while it’s still mine to look around more, to embed it in my brain and heart because soon, all I’ll have left are memories."

Suddenly feeling melancholic, Luo Qiao asked softly, "So you’re leaving this place, are you?"
