Chapter 344: Chapter 344: Aisiss Courting Death
Luo Qiao smiled and said, "Got it, thanks, Dad."
When Luo Qiao arrived at the Yuan Family house, Master Yuan was waiting for her in the living room, "Qiaoqiao, come and sit."
Luo Qiao smiled as she walked over, "Grandpa, how have you been lately?"
Old Master Yuan laughed, "Good, good, the old man can eat and drink every day, life couldn’t be better than it is now. But it’s just a bit dull. Your arrival is perfect, you can play chess with grandpa. Let’s have a game between the two of us."
Luo Qiao smiled, "Okay, then I’ll join grandpa for a game."
The two were engrossed in their game, exchanging moves back and forth, when the old master chuckled, "You’ve really improved a lot. You can even draw with grandpa now."
Luo Qiao laughed, "Isn’t it just because grandpa is letting me win?"
Old Master Yuan roared with laughter, "I heard you did well on your exams this time. Grandpa has prepared a reward for you!"
Luo Qiao grinned, "There’s a reward? Then I must work even harder to make sure I get grandpa’s reward every time."
Yuan Jiayi, who was nearby, chuckled, "It seems like you want to make grandpa go bankrupt."
Laughter filled the living room as the three family members enjoyed their time together, making Auntie Chen, who had just walked in from outside, quite curious. Seeing Luo Qiao in the living room, she understood – this girl always had a way of making the old master happy.
She said somewhat awkwardly, "Luo Qiao is here, no wonder I heard the old chief’s laughter from the moment I entered the yard. Your visit can cheer him up for days."
Luo Qiao smiled, "Hello, Auntie Chen."
Remembering the package of sea goods she sent last time, Luo Qiao asked, "How did you like the sea goods I sent you last time?"
Auntie Chen’s expression changed abruptly, and Master Yuan’s smile also faded. Luo Qiao, unaware of the situation, thought they hadn’t received it, "Didn’t you receive it? But I called last time and even talked to Eldest Auntie about it."
Suddenly, she realized something and looked toward Yuan Jiayi.
Yuan Jiayi said, "Auntie Chen, you can go cook some food. Grandpa, it’s time for you to head over to Grandpa Zhong’s."
Only then did Old Master Yuan say, "Qiaoqiao, would you like to visit your Grandpa Zhong with me?"
Luo Qiao smiled, "Wouldn’t it be too presumptuous?"
Old Master Yuan replied, "No problem, I’ll be there with you."
Yuan Jiayi suggested, "Let’s go together, it’s a good chance to introduce you to everyone in the compound."
As the three of them walked out, Auntie Chen’s face finally relaxed a bit, though she still looked extremely embarrassed.
It wasn’t until they were outside that Luo Qiao learned the truth from Yuan Jiayi.
After sending off the goods from the south and calling the Yuan Family, Luo Qiao mentioned that she had sent a good amount of sea goods, which she had divided into three parts. One part was for Little Uncle Yuan to share with his well-regarded comrades from the military.
After the package arrived, Eldest Auntie Song Huizhen, just before leaving the house, instructed Auntie Chen to collect a package for the old master and told her to open it and put the goods into the storage room upon her return.
Auntie Chen’s daughter Aisiss happened to be around, so she helped collect the package from the post office outside the compound. Seeing that the sender was Luo Qiao and that the package was large, Aisiss somehow persuaded herself and her mother to keep only enough for two meals, and took away the rest before the Yuan Family could return home.
The trouble came when Eldest Auntie Song Huizhen returned in the evening and inquired about the goods. Auntie Chen broke out in a cold sweat, as, in the past, goods sent by others were simply placed in the storage room and then forgotten by the family.
Agreeing to her daughter’s actions, she had thought that the family wouldn’t bother about it. They kept enough for two meals of each item so they would not be found out when the family eventually tried the food.
But she had never expected that there were parts in the package for the second branch of the Yuan Family and for Yuan Weicheng. Members of the second branch and Little Uncle Yuan, having been tipped off by a call from their sister-in-law, came to eat and collect their share that evening, and the truth was revealed.
Auntie Chen confessed everything on the spot, and Yuan Weicheng immediately took Yuan Jiayi and Yuan Jiaze by car to confront Aisiss at her school. In consideration of her late father’s reputation, they didn’t let anyone else know what she had done.
However, they prohibited her from ever stepping foot in the compound again. Fortunately, Aisiss had not yet had the chance to give away the goods.
