Chapter 250 Reap What You Sow

Chapter 250: Chapter 250 Reap What You Sow

"What’s there to be afraid of? That woman already said there are only two households around here. We’ll take her before anyone notices. What can a young girl possibly do?"

"It would be best to take her without anyone realizing. We’ve already paid that woman. If we can’t take her, wouldn’t that be a loss? Better to be careful."

"How about I go find that woman and ask her to bring over a ladder?"

Luo Qiao’s face darkened upon hearing this; she suspected they might be referring to Gao Suhua, who had been unusually quiet recently.

There weren’t many people she had offended in the village, Li Xiulan was one, but she was too preoccupied with her own troubles to be likely. As for Zhang Dezheng’s family, Wang Chunnian wasn’t bold enough.

Those men outside had mentioned a woman, which left only Gao Suhua. The woman was audacious and malicious; only she could have done such a thing.

So Luo Qiao quickly tied up her loose hair and climbed swiftly over the back wall. Since you’re heartless, don’t blame me for being unjust.

Luo Qiao wasn’t sure which "below" the men were talking about, whether it was below the path or the one that led to the village bridge, so she headed toward the village first.

She hadn’t gone far past Lu Yichen’s gate when she heard footsteps ahead and quickly hid. Upon seeing who it was, Luo Qiao couldn’t help but smile; this person had delivered themselves right to her doorstep—she couldn’t be blamed.

She waited for the person to pass and then, with a karate chop, they went down without a fight.

Luo Qiao took the person back through her original route into the spatial storage, avoiding the two men still looking for a way into the yard without making any noise, and returned to her room to roll up her bedding.

She laid the person out flat on the bed and thought to herself with a measure of resentment, ’Blame your no-good mother.’

It was none other than Gao Suhua’s second daughter, Zhao Xiaomei, who lay on the bed. She had gone to bed early and pretended to sleep, listening for her mother to leave before getting up and following her, unfortunately taking a different path.

After settling the person, Luo Qiao stood up and collected the more valuable items in the room into her spatial storage, then went to the kitchen to gather up food and cooking utensils before heading to the backyard, planning to find Gao Suhua, who was likely still close by.

Just as Luo Qiao reached the backyard, she heard someone jumping into the front yard and sneered before flipping over the wall and out.

Sure enough, as expected, Gao Suhua hadn’t left but had hidden herself at the bottom of the small path, at the spot where one exits the village.

Luo Qiao approached quietly, stopping a few meters away and taking out a small packet of sleeping powder from her space, something she made for self-defense, which now found a perfect use.

Before long, Gao Suhua passed out. Luo Qiao approached and found two hundred yuan on her body. She hadn’t expected this woman to be so bold, plotting to sell her the night before she left—impressive!

Without giving her another thought, Luo Qiao left. She had intended to go up the path, but hearing people coming down, she thought those two men might have succeeded, so she detoured, aiming to go home.

As she approached the bridge near her house, she heard from the other side, not too far away, someone saying, "Old man, how are you? You can’t let anything happen to you."

In the quiet of the night, Luo Qiao heard the panicked exclamation clearly. Frowning, she took a detour and followed the sound, discovering Grandma Lin, also known as Du Meilan, anxiously circling Grandpa Lin, who sat in pain on a rock at the east end of the village.

Luo Qiao approached and asked, "Grandma Lin, what happened to Grandpa Lin?"

Grandma Lin, whose maiden name was Du Meilan, replied, "He had some diarrhea since the morning, and his stomach hurt after dinner. He’s been enduring it until now, but the pain’s unbearable. We’re just about to go to the clinic."

Luo Qiao offered, "Let me help you get Grandpa Lin over there."

Grateful, Old Lady Lin responded, "That would be a big help."

Together, they helped the old man toward the health station. Du Meilan asked, "Luo Qiao, what are you doing outside so late?"

Luo Qiao answered, "I had been out during the day and lost something. I only realized when I was about to sleep, so I came out to look for it. That’s when I heard Grandma Lin’s voice."
