Chapter 116: Chapter 116 A Grand Play

The next morning, the Sun Family put on a big drama for Qingshan Village because it was the first of the month, which meant it was time for Stone to go to the home of Third Son of the Sun Family, Sun Baojun. However, Yao Honghong, the third daughter-in-law, said she couldn’t take over just yet.

Kong Yuru said, "Today is the first, it’s your family’s turn, by what right can you refuse to take charge?"

Yao Honghong replied with a mocking face, "Second sister-in-law, how can you have the face to say that?"

Kong Yuru replied, "Our Shengyuan also burned his arm, it’s not that I don’t want to look after that wild, Stone, it’s just that I really can’t take care of everything." She almost slipped up saying ’wild child’ in front of the villagers.

Yao Honghong sneered, "Don’t talk all nice, Stone is still at the clinic, he was injured in your house, and you were the one who hurt him personally. If I were to take over, it has to be completely unharmed. Otherwise, who’s going to pay for the medicine?"

The villagers could understand Yao Honghong’s point from the third family; taking over meant dealing with medical expenses and delivering meals to the clinic, which would be a big inconvenience.

Luo Qiao got up early in the morning to make porridge, sugar triangles, a cucumber salad, and even fried two eggs, delivering them to Stone early in the morning.

After watching Stone finish his meal, Luo Qiao asked, "Stone, how are you feeling today?"

Stone replied, "It doesn’t burn as much as yesterday."

Luo Qiao said, "That’s good, I’ll come over at noon to bring you lunch, and I’ll apply your medicine in the evening."

Stone nodded and replied, "Thank you, Sister Luo Qiao, hurry back, don’t be late for work."

After Lu Yichen left last night, Luo Qiao went back to her room and into her space. She had soaked her feet in well water and had rested for the night. In the morning, she tested her feet and they didn’t hurt as much as they did the previous night.

When she went out to deliver the meal, she happened across a villager from the neighboring village returning to the city for work on his bicycle, who gave her a ride to the commune.

Now, on her way back to the village, she could still feel some discomfort in her foot. She hoped it wouldn’t get worse by the time she walked back to the village.

She was looking at her foot when she heard some noise ahead. She looked up just in time to see Lu Yichen approaching on his bicycle, with a look on his face that said he knew everything, which made Luo Qiao feel a bit guilty.

She hurriedly greeted him, "Brother Lu, where are you headed?"

Lu Yichen got off and turned his bike around, "Get on, I’ll take you back to the village."

Luo Qiao said, "I hope I’m not delaying you."

Lu Yichen replied, "What do you think, do you want that foot to never heal? Didn’t you study medicine, why be so stubborn?"

Luo Qiao knew that Lu Yichen was truly angry this time and she defended herself in a small voice, "If I didn’t bring food, Stone would go hungry. Besides, I was given a ride here by the villager from the next village, for real."

Lu Yichen said, "Then why didn’t you let me take you to the clinic from the commune? It’s several hundred meters to walk in from there. If your foot gets worse, who do you expect to take care of you?"

Luo Qiao took a deep breath and said somewhat falteringly, "I, er, I can’t always bother you, can I?"

Lu Yichen stated, "At noontime, I will deliver food to Stone. You just need to make sure it’s ready. Since you’ve delayed me from driving out today, you can compensate me with a meal at noon."

Luo Qiao replied, "Don’t you normally not come back to the village at lunchtime?"

Lu Yichen couldn’t help but laugh at the cheek of this little girl, who didn’t seem to appreciate his concern at all.

Without another word, he pedaled towards the village with a stern face.

As they approached the entrance to the village, Lu Yichen told Luo Qiao to get down and make her own way back, while he didn’t cross the bridge but waded through the river and took the small path to the tractor shed.
