Chapter 1110: Chapter 1110: Beginning of School Term, Collecting Rent
The girl who was organizing her belongings stopped her handiwork, "Hello, I am Du Lisa, from Singapore."
Luo Qiao and Du Lisa quickly hit it off, as it turned out Lisa had arrived in Boston before the new year, but had been staying at her aunt’s house until today.
School was starting tomorrow, so the two did not chat too late and went to bed early.
The next morning, they attended a class meeting, received their course schedules, introduced themselves, and by a little past ten, they were free to go about their activities before classes officially began in the afternoon.
Seeing there was nothing left to do here, Luo Qiao hurried off to handle some paperwork. She had made an appointment for ten-thirty. Upon leaving campus, she called a taxi and headed to the agreed-upon location.
With a professional agent handling everything, a lot of trouble was indeed saved. An hour later, all the formalities were completed. The host family said they could only move out tomorrow and might need to stay one more night, to which Luo Qiao smiled and said that it was no problem.
She would take over the house tomorrow at noon.
After finishing the tasks, she returned to the school. Du Lisa was just about to leave the apartment to have lunch, "Do you want to join?"
Luo Qiao went to her room to drop off her things, then walked with Lisa to the cafeteria. Along the way, Lisa chattered like a little magpie, saying she wanted to eat Italian pasta and wondering how it would taste?
Then she mentioned that her aunt wanted her to stay with her family, but she preferred to live at school for more freedom.
By the time the two arrived at the cafeteria, there were already many people there. Luo Qiao also ordered Italian pasta, as well as a bowl of vegetable soup.
Every face was filled with smiles, and people of different nationalities greeted each other. Luo Qiao was caught up in the atmosphere and felt exceptionally good.
Regular classes began in the afternoon. There were twenty-three people in their Neuroscience class, with only four females, the other two girls being from Japan and Korea.
They all seemed easy to get along with. Luo Qiao was happy looking at the course schedule, as some of the classes happened to be at different times from those in Immunology. If there was enough time, she could sit in on some of those classes.
The next day at noon, Luo Qiao rented a bike to go and take possession of her house, also taking the opportunity to see how long it took from the school to the house.
Upon arrival, she noted it was about a fifteen-to-sixteen-minute ride, or approximately thirty to forty minutes by foot, which seemed fine - good exercise. At this point, it looked like there was no need to buy a car; a bike would suffice.
When she got there, the family expressed their gratitude for allowing them to stay one more night. They left behind some items Luo Qiao could use, and had already packed their belongings to be shipped later.
The remaining items were given to neighbors, who were introduced to Luo Qiao, and the family spoke highly of her. Luo Qiao was very grateful to them.
After seeing off the family, Luo Qiao returned to the yard, growing fonder of it the more she looked around. The house was well-maintained and only needed minor refurbishing before moving in. What satisfied her the most was the neatly bricked front yard with several flower beds.
In one corner of the yard, there was a maple tree with a swing underneath it, and she thought how beautiful the scenery must be in autumn.
The backyard was about a third of an acre, which Elder Rong would definitely like, and would give him something to do when he visited.
The previous owners were really considerate, cleaning the house inside and out before departing, sparing Luo Qiao the need to hire a cleaning service, which was uplifting.
Leaving the house, she decided she would change the locks on the doors later on and take the next few days to purchase any necessary items.
The first thing she did upon returning was to submit an application, and then she waited to break the good news to her family over the phone in the evening.
At eight o’clock sharp, she made the call, "Hello."
This time, Yueyue was the first to answer the phone, "Mommy, it’s Yueyue."
"Baby Yueyue, Mommy has some good news to tell you all, I found a house, and you’re going to love it."
"Really? When can we come over?"
"Very soon, Mommy has already submitted the application. You all stay with Great Grandfather for a few days to keep him company, and visit Great Granny and Grandfather. Remember to call Grandpa and Grandma, and find time to help Mommy visit your Grandmaster and Grandmistress."
