Luo Qiao couldn’t help but laugh and cry, and had no choice but to help her quickly put on her clothes. Then she saw the little one getting out of bed, slipping on cotton slippers, and chasing after daddy and her sister to wash up.

Rong Daniang watched their family interact and smiled contentedly, "I’ll go to the front yard to prepare breakfast for you all."

Luo Qiao smiled at Rong Daniang, "Thank you, Auntie. You’ve been working hard these past few days."

Rong Daniang smiled, waved her hand dismissively, and left the room.

Once the family of four had gotten ready and been affectionate with each other for a while, they finally went to the front yard.

Elder Rong and Rong Daniang had already prepared breakfast. "You’ve come just in time. Sit down and eat breakfast—Yichen has to go to work today, right?"

Lu Yichen seated Yanyan and Yueyue in their high chairs. "Yes, I’m off to work in a bit."

Rong Daniang served porridge, "Then eat up, it’s getting late."

After breakfast, Lu Yichen said goodbye to everyone and put on his coat to head to work.

Luo Qiao was planning to visit her sister-in-law, Lu Yiting, today. She’d heard that Yiting’s morning sickness had been severe recently, and although Luo Qiao had been delayed by other matters a few days ago, she was determined to visit her today no matter what.

She prepared some things and got the children wrapped up warmly in their coats before she led them out the door.

After hailing a taxi, she reported the address of the newspaper office where Lu Yiting worked. Upon arrival, they were stopped by a security guard who informed them that some leaders were visiting today for an inspection, and the office was not open to the public.

Luo Qiao figured that if they wouldn’t let her in, then she might as well wait at Yiting’s home, especially since Auntie Li would be there, eliminating the need to get the keys from Yiting.

Just as she was about to turn around and leave, a few cars arrived. Luo Qiao had to move aside with the children—yet, to her surprise, the person getting out of the car was Zhou Zhongyuan, the man who had bought orchids from her years ago and whom she had met a few times since.

Luo Qiao didn’t rush to greet him. Instead, she took her children’s hands, ready to leave, but as she turned, someone called out to her. "Luo Qiao, what are you doing here?"

Luo Qiao turned back, "I didn’t expect Comrade Zhou to remember me. I’m here to see my sister-in-law, but I can’t get in today."

Zhou Zhongyuan glanced toward the entrance of the newspaper office, "Do you still have any flowers in good condition? The New Year is coming, and the elders at home don’t care much for anything else, but they do have a special love for flowers."

Luo Qiao thought for a moment. "I do, but they’re not cheap."

Zhou Zhongyuan nodded, "Price is not an issue, as long as it can bring a smile to the face of the elders at home, it’s worth it."

Luo Qiao decided, "Then have someone come by in the afternoon to pick them up. I’ve got quite a few pots; you can choose whichever one you like and then we can discuss the price."

After exchanging a few more words, Luo Qiao followed Zhou Zhongyuan into the newspaper office, but as soon as she was inside, she said goodbye to him and went to look for Lu Yiting.

When mother and daughters found Lu Yiting, she had just finished throwing up and was coming out of the restroom. "Sister-in-law, Yanyan, Yueyue, what are you doing here?"

Yanyan ran up, "Auntie, mom was worried about you, so we came to see how you’re doing and to bring you some stuff."

Yueyue asked with concern, "Auntie, are you feeling better?"

Lu Yiting patted the heads of her two nieces, "Seeing you girls makes auntie feel better already."

Luo Qiao gestured for her to go to the rest area. "Auntie Li said your morning sickness has been pretty bad?"

Lu Yiting smiled, "It’s severe in the morning and evening. I can’t stand the smell of oily foods or smoke."

Luo Qiao handed her a jar of preserved plums, "These preserved plums can ease morning sickness. Keep a jar at your office, and I have a few more in this bag. I’ll bring them to your home later."

Lu Yiting’s eyes reddened, "Thank you, sister-in-law."

Yanyan, seeing her little aunt’s eyes turn red, said, "Little Aunt, shy shy."

Lu Yiting was tickled into laughter, and Luo Qiao also burst into a smile, "Alright, we won’t bother you any further. If you feel unwell, just suck on one."

They had just come out of the lounge when they bumped into the newspaper’s leadership, who were escorting Zhou Zhongyuan. Lu Yiting had wanted her sister-in-law to take her two nieces back to the lounge, but the people coming towards them had quickened their pace and it was too late.

When the person at the front got closer, he greeted her first, "Luo Qiao, have you found her?"

Luo Qiao turned around and pulled Lu Yiting forward, "This is my sister-in-law Lu Yiting. She works here and recently, she got pregnant. She’s been having severe morning sickness, so I came over to bring her some things."

Lu Yiting nodded, "Hello."

The newspaper’s leadership stepped forward, "Minister Zhou, Comrade Lu Yiting is dedicated and diligent at work, a very progressive and capable comrade."

Zhou Zhongyuan smiled, "That’s good. Our industry needs grounded, hardworking young people with drive."

Then he looked at Lu Yiting, "Keep up the good work."

Lu Yiting hadn’t quite grasped the situation but had been praised by the leadership. She felt bemused and a bit surreal, but still responded, "Thank you, sir. I will definitely work harder."

Zhou Zhongyuan didn’t linger for too long. His schedule was tight that day, and after greeting Luo Qiao, he left.

Luo Qiao told her sister-in-law to get back to work and left with her children from the newspaper office, intending to deliver the items she had to where Lu Yiting lived and then take her daughters home.

After all, she had promised Zhou Zhongyuan to let people come in the afternoon to choose flowers, so she needed to prepare.

She did have several pots in her room, planning to take a few more plants out from her space, she needed to go back and repot them.

Before long, she arrived at the courtyard where her sister-in-law lived. The main gate was wide open, and as Luo Qiao walked in with the children, she heard a woman speaking inside, "Mom, why can’t you let me stay in that room for a few days? We were originally coming back to visit you. Now that you can’t go back for the New Year, we wanted to stay in the city with you. Surely you can’t expect us to stay in a hostel."

"I’m only looking after the house for someone else, how can I let you stay there? It’s only for a few days anyway, just find a decent hotel to stay in. I’ll pay for it."

"Mom, it doesn’t bother us, but you surely can’t stand seeing your grandchildren suffer out there."

"Nowadays, hotels are much better than hostels. How can you say that’s suffering? It’s just a place to stay; it sounds like you think where you’re currently staying is much better."

"Mom, we’ll just stay for a few days and then leave. The homeowner won’t find out, and if we can stay somewhere better, why not? Besides, staying at a hotel costs money, which we could save by not doing so."

"I’m paying for it, not you. We can’t break rules just because the homeowner might not find out."
