Chapter 1038: Chapter 1038: Harboring Ill Intentions
Luo Qiao then left the office, and it was only then that the kindergarten teachers found out that the father of Gu Xiyan and Lu XiYue is the Chief of the Capital City Police.
Afterward, an informed parent leaked, "Gu Xiyan and Lu XiYue’s mother is quite impressive herself. She’s currently a lecturer at Beijing Medical University and the attending physician at Beijing Medical Affiliated Hospital. She’s going to be sent abroad on an official assignment after the new year."
The kindergarten teacher Cao Jianrong, who had heard this, truly regretted her actions. She realized she had been shortsighted, favoring Sun Xiaobao and hoping to benefit from Chief Sun’s influence, but now she had provoked public anger and even lost her job.
Suddenly the thought occurred to her that if Gu Xiyan’s mother was going abroad, wouldn’t that mean the husband and wife would be separated for a long time? A spark of excitement lit up in her, thinking, if she could replace that woman, would she still need to curry favor with others?
If Luo Qiao knew of these thoughts, she could only offer two words in response: "Ha, ha."
The family went straight back to their quadrangle house today. Rong Daniang and her husband had rushed off to the kindergarten after receiving a phone call, so they hadn’t had time to prepare dinner, mainly because they hadn’t expected them to return today.
Luo Qiao said, "Let’s just have a light meal today. Yanyan’s injury is nothing serious, but it’s still better to be cautious."
Rong Daniang said with concern, "I’ve seen that child who hit others a few times before. He’s always itching for trouble, either hitting or pushing other children. His grandmother is also unreasonable, spewing insults without a filter, daring to say anything. It was about time someone taught them a lesson, look at what they’ve done to our Yanyan."
Yanyan raised her little head, "I hit him back, but I wouldn’t scratch his face. I twisted his arm."
Luo Qiao burst into laughter when she heard this, "Who taught you that?"
Yanyan’s eyes darted around for a while, then seeing her mother still gazing at her, she said, "I’ll only tell you if you promise not to tell anyone else."
Luo Qiao nodded, and Yanyan then pulled her mother’s neck closer and whispered in her ear, "Sister Ranran told me if another child bullies me, to hit where no one can see."
Luo Qiao hadn’t expected little Lu Ran to teach her sister these tricks and laughed.
Seeing her mother laugh, Yanyan said, "Mom, it’s our secret, okay?"
Luo Qiao extended her finger and made a pinky promise with her daughter—hook, line, and sinker—and vowed their secret would last a hundred years. The little girl beamed with joy.
Yueyue also looked up and laughed, "It’s our secret among the three of us."
The mother and daughters laughed together.
The next day, Luo Qiao and Lu Yichen took their daughter to the kindergarten, where the reception by the teachers was exceptionally warm.
Luo Qiao merely smiled faintly. It wouldn’t have been appropriate to say much more. They hadn’t revealed their status before because they didn’t want special treatment. After all, this was Capital City, where there were plenty of families with a higher status than theirs. Even for something as simple as attending kindergarten, it wasn’t necessary. In the end, prestigious families like the Sun Family were quite rare.
As the couple drove away from the kindergarten, Cao Jianrong, who had just been dismissed, was hiding behind a large tree nearby.
Watching until the car disappeared, she withdrew her gaze, imagining a future life as the Chief’s wife. She firmly believed that no cat could resist stealing cream.
After all, Gu Xiyan’s mother would be going abroad after the new year. She would have plenty of time.
How courageous indeed!
Now that Luo Qiao didn’t have any issues at school, she planned to visit her mentor today and then go to her grandparents’ house in the afternoon. She had been so busy lately that she hadn’t visited them in ages.
Lu Yi conveniently dropped her off at the entrance to the alley and scanned the surroundings before pointing to his face, "How about a little reward?"
Luo Qiao, seeing the increasingly childish man before her, quickly pecked his cheek, then hurriedly got out of the car. She opened the back door to grab the items she had prepared.
Standing outside the car: "Hurry along, and be safe on the road."
Lu Yi watched the charming little lady outside with a smile, "I’m off then. I’ll pick you up after work."
Luo Qiao waved, "No need, I’ll pick the kids up on time."
She planned to spend as much time with the children as possible before leaving the country, waving to the person inside the car, "Go on, then."
After Lu Yi left, Luo Qiao turned and headed toward her mentor’s house, carrying fruits and prawns from the South she had taken from her space, along with two jackets she had prepared earlier.
As soon as she reached the entrance to the alley, she heard a commotion. She thought it might be her mentor’s unruly bunch returning but soon realized it wasn’t. It was coming from next door at Grandma Liu’s.
Someone spotted Luo Qiao, "Luo Qiao, are you back to see your mentor and his wife?"
Luo Qiao smiled and nodded, "Yes, I’ve been busy and haven’t had a chance to visit my mentor and his wife."
That person chuckled, "Even when you’re gone, isn’t there always someone sending things to your mentor’s house? We all know about it. Every day there are cars delivering food and drink—I’m so envious."
Then they burst into hearty laughter.
