Chapter 1157 - Chapter 1157 Chapter 1113 Mind Your Own Business

Chapter 1157: Chapter 1113: Mind Your Own Business Chapter 1157: Chapter 1113: Mind Your Own Business Qinxi County, located in the southwestern area of Jinan City, lies close to the Qinling Mountains. Hence, the name Qinxi County. It’s a typical mountainous county town.

Surrounded by mountains, there’s a long and narrow valley. A river meanders through, and Qinxi County town stands in the midst of the entire valley basin.

There is a highway connecting the Ancient Capital to Jinan City, but to get to Qinxi County, only a provincial road is available. The mountain road is winding and rugged. Although the distance between Qinxi County and Jinan City is only one hundred and ten kilometers, it actually took over four hours to travel.

Setting off in the morning, it was noon by the time Nie Zhenbang arrived at Qinxi County.

In the county town, after finding a random restaurant and having lunch, Nie Zhenbang followed the navigation’s instructions and found Qinxixian First Middle School.

Although it was already summer vacation, aside from the students who had taken the college entrance exam, the sophomores and freshmen were still studying at school.

Parking his car by the side, Nie Zhenbang got out, walked towards the reception room, and with a smile asked, “Excuse me, is Teacher Ma Fuquan here?”

As soon as he heard Nie Zhenbang’s words, the old watchman instantly became alert, eyeing Nie Zhenbang from head to toe with scrutiny. He pondered and asked, “Who are you?”

He neither confirmed nor denied Ma Fuquan’s presence, just staring at Nie Zhenbang like that.

This scene made Nie Zhenbang pause for a moment before he smiled, pointed at his car, and said with a smile, “Uncle, I’m from the Ancient Capital. A friend of mine who was a former student of Teacher Ma asked me to deliver something to him.”

Nie Zhenbang stood up straight, appearing upright and proper, and additionally, he possessed an aura cultivated over a long period. From his appearance, Nie Zhenbang was absolutely the embodiment of justice, naturally capable of invoking a sense of trust in others.

After a long silence, the old man didn’t look at Nie Zhenbang anymore, he glanced around, and spoke in a low voice, “Teacher Ma doesn’t teach any longer. His home is in the family apartment block, building number 2, room 202. You can go in yourself.”

Following the old guard’s guidance, Nie Zhenbang drove the car into the campus of Qinxixian First Middle School. The vehicle wove through the on-campus roads and soon parked in front of building number 2 of the residential area.

Exiting the car and following the security’s directions, he went straight up and knocked on the door of 202. Moments later, a voice came from inside: “Cough cough, who is it?”

“Is Teacher Ma home? A former student of yours asked me to come here. I have something I’d like to give you,” Nie Zhenbang said very cautiously.

As soon as his car arrived at this doorstep, Nie Zhenbang had already noticed something: around Ma Fuquan, there were actually four or five individuals hiding and monitoring him at all times.

Combined with Ma Fuquan being suspended, it was certain that the Zhao Clan Group had learnt about the reporting letter that Ma had written.

Since Ma Fuquan had written letters to President Qiao’s wife, it was certain that he must have sent out quite a number of reporting letters–not only in the county but surely in the city and at the provincial level as well. Consequently, Ma Fuquan had undoubtedly attracted the attention of the Zhao Clan Group. It raised the question of why they hadn’t taken action against Ma, stopping at just a suspension.

On the one hand, the Zhao Clan Group might have had their reservations about Ma, since there were no grounds for them to act on. A rash move would require the Zhao Clan Group to think twice. On the other hand, a more likely scenario was that, in the eyes of the Zhao Clan Group, Ma was merely an insignificant troublemaker unable to stir up any real trouble. After all, to kill a person adds another layer of sin, and with it, the pressure and impact heighten. In Jinan City, the Zhao Clan Group might cover the sky with one hand, but it could be surmised that at the provincial level there were definitely people monitoring the Zhao Clan Group. Should the matter blow up, it would pose a great danger to them.

The door creaked open. Nie Zhenbang’s gaze fell on the door frame, which still bore traces of fresh wood. These were the remains of a repair.

From this alone, it could be imagined, and assured, that Ma Fuquan’s family must have been subjected to some interference.

Ma Fuquan was in his fifties, with hair already turning grey. His bright eyes, however, sparkled with an indomitable spirit. Here stood a man who upheld justice. Though Ma Fuquan may not have had a towering physical stature, to Nie Zhenbang, he was an immeasurably imposing figure.

Nie Zhenbang said with a smile, “Hello, Teacher Ma. May I come in to talk?”

One could tell that there was still some hesitation flickering across Ma Fuquan’s face, some indecision, but after mulling it over for a moment, Ma Fuquan nodded and said, “May I ask which of my students are you a friend of?”

As he walked into the room, Nie Zhenbang seemed very natural as he casually closed the door behind him. His expression turned solemn as he whispered, “Hello, Teacher Ma. Allow me to introduce myself. I am a reporter from the ‘Masses Daily’ Longxi correspondent station, my surname is Nie. Teacher Ma, the reason for my visit is to inquire about the situation with the fallen students at Qinxixian First Middle School. That Zhao Clan Group, are they really so brazen? As someone who’s informed, could you tell me the details?”

Hearing Nie Zhenbang’s words, a trace of joy appeared on Ma Fuquan’s face. However, he still expressed his doubts, “A reporter? Do you have any proof?”

In the midst of their conversation, Nie Zhenbang took out his press ID from his pocket. It was an ID he had asked someone to arrange for him before coming to Longxi. Since he had already planned to come to Longxi, he certainly needed a suitable identity; undoubtedly, the identity of a reporter was the most appropriate. As a reporter, he could go anywhere and it would seem reasonable. This was also the best way to conceal his identity.

After receiving the ID, Ma Fuquan looked at it very carefully, seriously verifying the details on it. After a long silence, he finally spoke slowly, “It should be correct. I’ve had several students who became reporters after graduating from college. Their IDs don’t look any different from yours. Please have a seat, Reporter Nie.”

Hearing Ma Fuquan’s words, Nie Zhenbang chuckled internally, as of course, the ID was real. It was indeed a genuine press card; even if one were to call the ‘Masses Daily’ for verification, there would be no mistake.

At this moment, Ma Fuquan pondered for a while before speaking slowly, “Reporter Nie, speaking of the Zhao Clan Group matter, it’s a long and complex tale. Such a mob-like company has become so rampant and unrestrained. The young master of the Zhao Clan Group, Zhao Xiaoyang has even declared that Jinan City is under the Zhao family’s rule.”

“Reporter Nie, one of my students, named Mo Xiaofeng, only eighteen years old. Zhao Xiaoyang’s men, who have gathered a bunch of idle social misfits and spread them across various schools, were captivated by Mo Xiaofeng’s beauty. They first found an opportunity to beat up Mo Xiaofeng’s family members. Then, they used methods to force Mo Xiaofeng to drink with them. In the end, Mo Xiaofeng was taken to bed by Zhao Xiaoyang. And that wasn’t enough. Later, she was forced to become a hostess at the Zhao Clan Group’s hotel in Jinan City. Such a good girl, her life, was ruined by them.”

Ma Fuquan narrated many such instances, with names and specifics and, speaking the truth, his face burning with righteous indignation, making it clear he wasn’t fabricating facts.

Thinking back to the encounter with that Zhao Xiaoyang today in Jinan City, with his arrogant bearing and his disdainful attitude, all of this essentially confirmed that the events were very likely true. It wasn’t overnight that things had reached a point where Zhao Xiaoyang’s domineering actions had become unremarkable.

After conversing with Ma Fuquan for over two hours, Nie Zhenbang had recorded a lot of information in a small notebook, and a pen he carried, capable of recording, had captured all the spoken words in their entirety.

At this moment, Nie Zhenbang had already stood up and looked at Ma Fuquan, “Teacher Ma, please be assured, anyone with a conscience and sense of justice will not allow such people, such a company, to continue existing. I will definitely expose them and reveal their despicable true faces.”

“Reporter Nie, please, I beg of you,” Ma Fuquan got up and deeply bowed, thanking Nie Zhenbang.

As soon as Nie Zhenbang left Ma Fuquan’s house and reached the bottom of the building, four young men suddenly appeared from the side and surrounded him.

The leader among them glanced sideways at Nie Zhenbang and said in a deep voice, “Kid, what were you doing in Ma Fuquan’s house?”

“I… I was just helping a friend deliver something. Who… who are you guys?” Nie Zhenbang feigned a terrified demeanor as he spoke.

Seeing this, the leader relaxed a little and said coldly, “Who we are is none of your business. But let’s just say we’re not people you commoners can afford to mess with. I warn you, kid, better mind your own business. Otherwise, if trouble arises, it’s you who’ll be at a loss. Now, get lost!”

“Wait, Biaozi, you go and check him out, see if this kid is playing any tricks,” the leader still not reassured, instructed.

At this moment, in the midst of speaking, Nie Zhenbang had subtly retreated to his vehicle, cleverly placing the small notebook on the footboard of the formidable off-road vehicle.

After searching and finding nothing, the men finally waved their hands and said, “Scram, kid. Remember what I said, don’t meddle in affairs that don’t concern you. Sometimes, some people are not for you to provoke.” (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welcome to vote and support on ; your support is my greatest motivation.)
