Chapter 810: Chapter 810: Something Did Not Go As Planned

Arabella smiled at Zion in gratitude and he smiled back politely.

Shortly after, Riley and other magicians arrive with more Prudencians they have rescued.

The number was much smaller compared to the other day when there were set locations.

They had to find Prudencians per house this time so it was taking much longer. Unlike last time when they arrived simultaneously at a fast pace.

As he was told to do, Ronald observed as the magicians used their magic to heal the people or as they teleported.

However, something did not seem right.

Half an hour had already passed but Alwin had not returned yet.

Judging from his assigned task, he might have had to wait until the timing was right.

But would it take this long?

After all, Alwin was supposed to just teleport those who had marks on their helmets to the Alba Household’ estate and those who surrendered to Marquess Heron’s estate.

Arabella was so used to Alwin working quickly so it was making her worry for him to take this long to return.

However, considering that he may have had to teleport too many people, he may have had to teleport them per batch if their numbers were too high even for mass teleportation.

But would it last half an hour? Wouldn’t that mean Alwin may have used up all his mana?

After all, even growing the entire forest in Mt. Safiro only took him a few minutes.

Arabella had also seen him teleport a great number of knights several times and it still took only a few seconds.

Why was he taking so long now? He was supposed to be in Crux for just a bit and return here so Zion could go to the battlefield and assist their knights.

Did something happen?

Arabella glanced at Zion and their gazes met.

Zion was also bothered by the same thing and was beginning to worry.

"Zion, do you think Alwin would have had to teleport per batch if there were too many people?" Arabella inquired.

"No, Your Majesty. That would have been inefficient and would ruin the plan. With how much mana Alwin has, it’s more efficient to teleport them all at once no matter the number even if it drains his mana. He cannot divert from the plan since the Crux knights and soldiers might recover from their shock and begin to attack," Zion pointed out.

He was right.

Arabella thought about that too but tried to deny it since she suddenly had a bad feeling.

If Alwin teleported per batch, it would indeed defeat the purpose of their plan. Once the Crux knights and soldiers realize that they were teleporting the slaves away, they attack to mix up everyone and make mass teleportation difficult.

Once the neat formation where the slaves were gathered was ruined, it would be harder for Alwin to teleport them to the Alba Household without bringing along knights and soldiers from the pro-slavery faction.

Thus, teleporting all at once was what works best.

So why was Alwin not back yet?

He was supposed to return immediately since participating in the battle was not his task.

After all, since Ferdinand was concerned that Alwin had slacked off in training his body for the past millennia, he did not like Alwin joining the battlefield, especially at a close range.

So Alwin would not feel bad, Ferdinand usually reasoned it was because Alwin had the most mana among them now and could protect them all on his own if there was a sneak attack.

Thus, it was usually Zion who was there with them on the battlefield during wars.

Alwin was always assigned to stay at a distance ensuring they were not attacked from the rear.

It was also why Alwin was supposed to just do his task and return to the Magic Tower immediately.

He should have been back by now.

Arabella gulped nervously as she asked, "Do you think something happened?"

Zion took a deep breath and his eyes became sharp as he replied, "Yes, Your Majesty. That can be the only explanation to this. Something must not have gone according to plan which was why he had to stay there longer than supposed to be."

"Could it be that he’s hurt and cannot return?" Arabella recalled the time Alwin went missing and could not be reached.

Her nervousness got worse as she thought of the possibilities.

Zion noticed and assured her, "I can feel his presence just fine so he is alright, Your Majesty. Let us wait for him to return. He probably just cannot return yet due to something unexpected."

"I see. We can keep waiting then," Arabella sighed in relief.

After receiving so much mana from Ferdinand, Arabella began to be able to differentiate presences of those who were constantly around her.

Thus, she could tell Alwin’s presence and feel it up to some distance. But he was too far away right now for her to feel him.

It was only Ferdinand’s strong presence that she could feel even at a great distance.

However, the long-lived races, especially trained people like Rendell and Zion were more sensitive to presences.

They could easily tell Alwin’s presence from the rest since he was an elf that feels like that of a dragon’s.

Alwin had more mana than even his uncle, Alvis.

However, an hour went by and Alwin was not back yet.

The other magicians had already brought back several batches of Prudencians but Alwin did not return.

Then, Arabella realized Riley had not come back once either ever since the third batch of Prudencians he teleported.

"Riley has not returned once after the third batch he teleported," Arabella mentioned to Zion. "Is he still searching for Prudencians and could not find more?"

"I’ll ask the mages, Your Majesty," Zion said and gestured for one of the magicians who had just returned.

The magicians walked to them and entered the barrier and bowed to greet Arabella.

"Greetings to Your Majesty."

"At ease," Arabella immediately replied, in a hurry to know why even Riley had not returned here.

"Where is Riley? Why hasn’t he returned here once?" Zion inquired.
