Chapter 808: Chapter 808: We Will Stay With Your Majesty
Thankfully, Riley was able to prevent the death of such loyal people when he arrived.
It was indeed critical that the magicians continue to search for Prudencians while the war with Crux was ongoing.
Arabella, her assistants, and her maids watched silently until all the rescued Prudencians were moved to the second room to cleanse and bathe before having a warm meal.
Her assistants finally,
While there were no Prudencians in the room, Arabella focused her attention on her maids this time.
Like her assistants, all of them except for Blanca looked terribly pale and shaken after what they witnessed.
The rumors about the healing process in Safiro had spread so it was alright to let them witness it themselves.
Likewise, Ferdinand was not really trying to hide there were many magicians in Valeria anyway.
What was important was for the existence of the long-lived races to remain a secret.
Having many magicians was alright since other kingdoms had them too.
Further, even if word got out of Valeria about this, most people would not believe it anyway since most people in Eliora do not believe magicians were real anyway.
They thought it was merely rumors and made up stories like their myths and legends.
Arabella did not dare ask if her maids were alright since they were visibly not.
Instead, she pointed out, "The smell is gone now."
Alwin had placed a spell in this room that cleanses the scent quickly.
The rescued Prudencians were here earlier so the smell remained because it was in their clothes and bodies. Thus, even with the spell, the strong odor still reeked.
But now that they have gone to the bath, the scent was gone as the spell worked and the source of the scent was gone.
Arabella’s maids looked around and slowly distanced their handkerchiefs from their nose, testing first if the scent was indeed gone.
When they sniffed and it was indeed no longer there, they sighed in relief and finally hid their handkerchiefs.
Their hands were trembling so they held it behind their backs after they stopped covering their nose.
But it was still noticeable since it wasn’t just their hands that were trembling.
"Your Majesty, why did you not cover your nose with such a strong scent in the air? What if it harms your health? There are a lot of airborne diseases out there," Aletha pointed out, worry etched on her face.
"Don’t worry. I’m strong and healthy. And His Majesty already ordered His Eminence to place a spell on me so I won’t pick up any diseases like that. I’ll be fine," Arabella assured them.
Ferdinand wouldn’t have allowed her here if she was at risk of possibly picking up any diseases.
In truth, after she got poisoned in Medeus, fearing he might lose her, Ferdinand had placed the spells protecting her from diseases and poison while they were in Estrella.
Ferdinand also gave her a lot of mana repeatedly so she would not get sick easily.
"You all did well," Arabella pulled her maids into a group hug.
"We did?" they asked in an unsure voice.
"Yes. I know it’s not easy to witness something like this but you all kept looking even while you tear up and throw up. You can go back to the palace and rest now," Arabella said, smiling at them.
[When did Her Majesty become this strong? I know she can be so determined to accomplish what she wants. She had gone to orphanages in Lobelius to donate and even helped the kids there herself. But there was never a sight like this there. Was it because of what she witnessed when she visited Safiro and Prudencia?] Aletha wondered.
Arabella got a bit nervous.
Aletha might become suspicious of her behavior.
But thankfully, Aletha simply assumed that Arabella matured and changed so much after all her experiences when she got married.
"Then, what about Your Majesty?" Carla inquired.
"I have to stay here. This is my duty as the Empress. I’ll summon you when I’m back to the palace," Arabella smiled to reassure them.
And yet, they got teary-eyed instead.
"Then, I will stay here with Your Majesty," Eunice said even when she clearly did not feel too well either after what she witnessed.
"Me too, Your Majesty. I cannot leave you alone here," Aletha seconded.
"I won’t go as well," Carla said even when her trembling got worse.
"I will stay with Your Majesty as well," Irene said even when she was visibly terrified about what they would witness next.
Arabella could not help but smile.
She was glad to have them by her side. However, if they keep witnessing more, they might be unable to sleep for months and they might throw up all the food they eat.
Thus, she had to send them away.
They all insisted to be with her so Arabella had no choice but to give them a task instead so they would stop thinking that they were lazing around while she was working hard.
"Alright. Then you have to help with the tasks here. Why won’t you go to the room beside this and help in handing out clothes and towels to the rescued Prudencians?" Arabella suggested.
"Yes, Your Majesty. We will do our best," they all bowed.
"Let’s go," Carla and Irene held Blanca who had been silent the whole time.
They thought it was because she was too scared to speak.
"Ah, Blanca will remain here. She will wait for His Eminence to return," Arabella reasoned.
In truth, Blanca had a task here but they might get jealous if Blanca who was still new was the one given a task here while they were sent to the next room.
[Oh, right. She must be worried about His Eminence.]
"Stay strong. I’m sure His Eminence will be fine," Irene squeezed Blanca’s hand.
"Indeed. Surely, His Eminence will return safely," Carla assured Blanca as well.
Eunice and Aletha silently patted Blanca’s back as well.
"Yes, I hope he will," Blanca nodded politely.
