Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 742: Their Last Opportunity

Chapter 742: Chapter 742: Their Last Opportunity

The Princess did not get dizzy from it either which means she had experienced it before or had some exposure to magic.

Meanwhile, Princess Seraphina’s companions were much more alarmed than she was.

The man and woman dressed as servants who were with the Princess during the Yearly Assembly in Medeus were alarmed and on their guard. They were visibly tense and sought to protect her, wary of potential threats.

[He brought us to another kingdom in a matter of seconds! I can tell the atmosphere and feel here is different. I wanted to refuse when I felt this person’s immense mana but Her Highness was willing to take the risks and already agreed. Is this person the Emperor’s legendary mage always talked about by those who had experienced war with them? We cannot possibly compare to that person.] The male servant with Princess Seraphina thought.

[How can we escape if this is a trap?! We cannot teleport Her Highness back to where we were earlier. Even if we try to run away by teleporting in small distances, this man might be able to catch up to us. And we don’t even know where we are right now. This place feels too dangerous to be in. Do we have no choice but to try to escape while he is the only one here?] The female servant’s thoughts mirrored her companion’s apprehension.

The two looked around warily but did not notice the other presences in the room.

Arabella swiftly relayed their capabilities to Alwin through their telepathic link.

{Alwin, the two servants are able to use magic. They can also teleport and are planning to escape in case this was a trap for them.}

{Yes, I can feel their mana. They seem to be quite capable but they are not formidable. Rest assured they won’t even be able to touch a single strand of your hair while I’m here.} Alwin assured her.

It sounded arrogant but Alwin was merely stating a fact. He was the one who was formidable after all.

{Oh my, thank you. That’s always comforting to hear.}

Arabella smiled as she thanked Alwin.

[This place is too eerily silent as if all sounds from outside were intentionally blocked! Should we run away with Her Highness now?!] Princess Seraphina’s "servants" noticed.

"Please pardon us," they said as each of them held Princess Seraphina’s wrists.

Their words and actions alarmed Princess Seraphina’s guard knight. He held onto the hilt of his sword as he warily looked around, scanning for threats. However, he only saw Riley in the room so he thought Riley was the problem.

[Were we misled?! Is this person not from the Empress but someone else’s?!]

The guard knight frowned when Riley did not take a fighting stance or anything and simply stared at them calmly.

"Why what’s going on?" Princess Seraphina asked, sensing her companions’ unease.

[Why do they look panicked?! They had never held my hand so tightly like this before.]

"Your Highness, we were teleported to another kingdom. Quite far from where we were originally," the female servant said and Princess Seraphina was wide-eyed.

[Another kingdom?! In a matter of seconds?! How is that possible? I thought teleportation to another kingdom takes more time and mana. Yet, they are saying this person teleported us to a far kingdom and he looks just fine as if it was not a difficult feat?!] Seraphina was astounded.

"Is this true?" Princess Seraphina turned to Riley for confirmation.

"Yes, Her Imperial Majesty cannot travel outside the kingdom without His Majesty’s approval so we brought you to Valeria instead," Riley confirmed calmly.

"V-Valeria?!" Princess Seraphina and her companions balked and exchanged alarmed glances.

[We are right into enemy territory?! How will we get out of here alive?!!]

[What should I do?! I did not consider this possible. How could we be in Valeria in a span of seconds?! How do we escape this place?! Are we doomed?! What about everything we worked hard for?!]

Princess Seraphina’s companions’ thoughts raced with apprehension.

’They seem to have a hidden agenda,’ Arabella noted when she heard their thoughts. She hoped this meeting would be a peaceful and fruitful one. But if they were here to try to harm her, it was a pity that this meeting would be nothing but another assassination attempt.

Arabella listened more to know about their agenda first before informing Alwin. They need to gather as much information as possible at least to make all their preparations for this worth it.

[Was Her Majesty not the one who read the letter but His Majesty instead?! What if we are all set to die here?! Emily and Jacob must already be thinking of an escape route as we had planned. But we don’t even know which part of Valeria this is!]

Princess Seraphina’s thoughts raced in panic. However, she was still hoping the meeting could still proceed as agreed upon.

[No, no, no. I shouldn’t think this way. I’m here to negotiate. I’m sure they won’t kill us without asking about what we know first. This is our only chance. If we leave without speaking with them, we might never have this chance ever again.]

Princess Seraphina’s resolve solidified, as she thought about the difficulty of setting up another meeting.

[I’m not even sure if we can escape here. This magician seems to be more capable than Emily and Jacob with how nervous they are around him. Yet, he was so calm despite being outnumbered in this room. He must be assured he could take us all down if he wanted to. Since he hadn’t done anything, he must not be thinking about it. Perhaps, they at least informed Her Majesty about us and she would truly meet us. Since we are here anyway, we might as well try.]

Princess Seraphina was in overdrive for a minute and came to an ultimatum. Hoping that the meeting would truly happen, she gestured for her companions to stand down and compose themselves.

"I see. Thank you for bringing us here. We will await Her Majesty," Princess Seraphina said to Riley politely.

"It was my pleasure. Please take a seat, Your Highness," Riley guided Princess Seraphina to the couch.

The princess’ companions closely followed her and stood behind her back.
