Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 733: To Believe In Change

Chapter 733: Chapter 733: To Believe In Change

Some were aware we were different but some were not. And we wish to save as many lives as we could for the sake of those who believed we could change too.

We have also trained our forces but we know we are not a match for the Empire. However, some remain blind to this fact.

As they seek death of their own accord and did not change their mind no matter what we said, I wish to speak on behalf of those who wish to spare the life of their beloved.

We have understood that slavery is not normal and we would like to eradicate it in Crux as well. However, it’s so hard to begin because it is deeply rooted in our culture.

My twin and I were rather delighted when Your Majesty and other rulers in Eliora pushed for the abolition of slavery.

We wish for the people of Crux to live with a right to choose and be free as people in other kingdoms do.

There are a lot of households, especially medium and smaller ones, who do not wish to participate in the war with Valeria.

I implore Your Majesty to please give me a chance to speak with you in person about this matter.

I cannot tell you all the details in writing in fear of this letter not going to Your Majesty as intended but in someone else’s hand.

I sent this letter to you in another kingdom where it was safer to communicate.

As it seems that I am the only one who benefits in this, I would like to present that I have information I am sure you would love to know before the war begins.

I simply wish to save as many lives as possible for both our people. So please, I beg Your Majesty, I wish to speak with you or at least a trusted representative of yours as soon as possible before the war begins.

I am hoping and begging for Your Majesty’s reply.

Sincerely Yours,

Princess Seraphina Alba Crux

"This is a lot to process," Arabella blinked repeatedly and handed Alwin the letter for him to read for himself.

The princess’ seal was stamped beside her name along with her signature so it was truly hers.

It was simply placed inside to hide the identity of the sender or else it might be screened out and not be sent to Arabella due to the heated issue between Crux and Valeria.

Alwin was silent as he read the letter and said with a frown, "This could be a trap. They know they are not strong enough against us; they might be trying to get you to meet them and abduct you. You will be used as leverage against His Majesty."

’Wow. And he says I am the plotter. Look at him figure out their plot so quickly if it was one.’

"That may be the case. But what if it is true that she has good intentions and has information that could be useful to us? She specified that: before the war begins. So it must be related to it. Something important before the war means it might be about the Prudencians they still have," Arabella pointed out.

"Hmm, that’s also a possibility. If it’s the location of the Prudencians they still have, we can retrieve them before the war begins," Alwin weighed their options.

Alwin and the other mages had already employed various tactics, even illegal ones, to take home Prudencians from Crux.

For instance, they had secretly gone to Crux and teleported back Prudencians they could find.

However, since the nobles in Crux thought of Prudencians as rare slaves, they had been keeping them well-guarded so they could not openly get them back. Meanwhile, others hid Prudencians well so they could not be found.

Thus, if the information Princess Seraphina had was about the location of the remaining ones, it is indeed something Arabella and all of them would love to know before the war begins.

One of the reasons why they had given Crux ample time to return the Prudencians was in fear that if they declared war, the nobles would simply kill the Prudencians they had with them.

However, the more Crux the delayed, the more it seemed an impossible task to return all the Prudencians who were still in Crux.

It made them worry if the rest were already dead so the nobles could not set them free and return them to Crux.

Thus, this time, they had to declare war as a last resort to take home everyone and retrieve the corpses of those who had perished and at least allow their families to mourn them.

Still, they were hoping that most of the ones who had not returned yet, were all alive and well.

"We can send Riley as your representative since this is urgent. I want to go meet her myself and see what she’s up to, but I can’t leave your side," Alwin said.

"Then, why won’t we both meet her?" Arabella wanted to meet Princess Seraphina as well.

"Huh?! No. His Majesty would feel your presence getting far away from here. He would be worried and surely come back here immediately to check on you. And if Princess Seraphina’s letter is a trap, you can be captured and used against His Majesty. Didn’t you hear me earlier?" Alwin eyed her like her words were that of someone who had gone insane.

Arabella thought about it and Ferdinand might indeed panic once he feels that she had gone somewhere outside Valeria.

But then, she had an idea.

"Oh, what about this then? She can come here instead. I mean, Riley can teleport her to the Magic Tower and we speak with her there? This way, I can listen to her thoughts."

Alwin thought about it for a few seconds before he nodded.

"Hmm. I see. We can also do that. But they might be the ones who would not agree to come here in fear of what might happen since we can also use her as leverage over Crux."
