Chapter 675: Chapter 675: Familiar Warmth and Presence

"You will in due time. Now is not the right time. But when the time comes, you will understand everything. And I hope you make the right choices this time," Elder Satara said.

[Right. There is no need to rush everything. A hundred years or less is nothing compared with all the years I have lived. I get impatient in everything related to Arabella but I should not rush her to tell me everything either. I need to be patient more than ever.] Ferdinand thought.

Thanks to the Elder’s words, Ferdinand decided to wait.

"What about you two? I can also read your palms," Elder Satara glanced at Rendell and Alwin.

[What if she says something that My Lord would find suspicious?!]

Alwin hid his palm behind his back, reluctant to let the Elder see through his past and future even though he was curious as well about what the future held for him.

Since Alwin was hesitant, Rendell stepped forward.

"Oh my, an Elder Giant. I have never met one since the Great War. We are honored to be in your presence," Elder Satara said.

"Oh, a giant?! We have never seen a giant before," Laurence and Laurencia’s eyes sparkled as they gazed back and forth at Ferdinand and Rendell.

[First a Primordial Dragon, the only living primordials! Now, we also get to meet an Elder Giant!]

[No wonder all of them had such a strong presence.]

Laurence and Laurencia were elated to meet other long-lived races and a primordial and an elder at that.

"I am honored as well. You are an Elder Elf yourself," Rendell said to Elder Satara.

"Ah, yes. I am considered one now after most of the elder ones have perished," Elder Satara lamented but no longer talked of the grim past. "Now, then, show me your palms."

Rendell then showed his palms and Elder Satara smiled.

"I see. Thank you for taking care of Ella all this time. We are grateful that you are here to guard her when the Great Primordial is away," Elder Satara said.

"I am just doing my duty," Rendell humbly replied.

"Yes, still, we are grateful," Elder Satara smiled yet again.

Arabella and Alwin understood that the Elder must be speaking not only about now but also of their past life.

"As for your fate... I see... The gods must have acted because too many fates have been altered due to a thread that had been cut," Elder Satara mused.

Arabella and everyone else glanced at each other trying to understand what the Elder meant. Arabella could only interpret this must be due to their past life as well.

"You had once been dragged into the mess that someone else had created. Thus, you had once met your mate but did not have the chance to be together. In this life, you should confess to her and ask her for marriage," Elder Satara said and everyone gawked at Rendell.

"You have someone you like?!" Arabella and Ferdinand asked at the same time since they never saw the signs.

Arabella had never heard Rendell thinking about a lady in an affectionate manner either.

[He did not get married in the past life.] Alwin thought.

Even Alwin was confused since he never expected Rendell to take a liking to someone since he was often just silently minding his business.

"No. I have never met someone like that," Rendell quickly raised his hands as if they accused him of hiding it from them.

"I see. It must still be too early right now. But someday, you will realize who it was and you will understand my words," Elder Satara smiled.

Rendell scratched the back of his head since this was something he never expected. After all, he had no interest in getting married yet.

Elder Satara then glanced at Alwin who was still hiding his hands behind his back.

"Oh my, are you a child of one of the Great Primordials? I am honored to meet one in person," Elder Satara smiled at Alwin who was still hooded.

"Eh? No, I am an elf," Alwin replied.

"How come?! Your presence is that of a dragon as well!" Elder Satara tilted her head.

"Ah, he grew up with me so he learned magic from me first. He learned elven magic a bit later. And he’s a talented and determined one who has already surpassed his elders. He has more mana than most of the new generation of hatchlings," Ferdinand explained.

Arabella giggled silently as she saw the flushed face Alwin had after Ferdinand’s praise.

"I see... That’s quite a surprise. Doesn’t this mean you are a candidate for the next king?" Elder Satara inquired.

"No. I do not want to be the King of Elves. And Uncle Alvis is still strong and healthy. I already refused him and told him to train his children instead," Alwin replied and finally undid his hood and the spell that prevented Elder Satara and her children from seeing his face.

But when Elder Satara saw his face, she froze and fell on her knees.

"Mother!" Laurence and Laurencia helped their mother up.

"Y-Your Majesty? You’re alive?!" Elder Satara gasped. "N-no. It’s not the His Former Majesty... C-could you be, Prince Alwin?"

[Prince Alwin? She knows about me?]

"Yes, I am Alwin. What do you mean, His Former Majesty? I don’t think I resemble Uncle Alvis that much," Alwin protested.

"A-Alwin?!! Your Highness is alive?!!" Elder Satara’s hands trembled as she reached out to Alwin.

"Y-yes," Alwin froze since he was not used to getting touched by anyone. But he did not push the Elder away.

[Why does her touch seem familiar? Where have I felt this warmth and presence before? It’s somewhat different but I think, I felt this before.]

"Heavens!" Elder Satara’s eyes were filled with tears once again and this time her body trembled as she cried. "Your Highness! I’m so glad you are alive. I’m so, so glad..."

Alwin was at a loss for words and glanced at Arabella and Ferdinand for help.
