Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 646: She Was Sent By His Eminence

Chapter 646: Chapter 646: She Was Sent By His Eminence

[I thought Her Majesty would be too pampered and naive and might get my daughter into a lot of trouble. It could be dangerous to our household.]

[We thought His Majesty would likely have his heart broken and get even more moody since she was in love with someone else. It would be dangerous for our daughters to get caught up in their fights.]

[I thought it was just a rumor that he fell in love and asked her hand for marriage. I thought it was only because she was the most sought-after princess in Eliora so he got her for himself. How can I send my daughter if I’m not sure if she will be treated well?]

[His Majesty seems to truly like Her Majesty. Her Majesty seems to like him too. I heard she was very kind to all her maids and assistants so I can rest assured now that my daughter would not be ruining her future.]

[I was worried that Her Majesty might take it out on her maids that she ended up here against her will since Lobelius could not afford to refuse a marriage proposal from His Majesty.]

Everyone had their own reasons for refusing to send their daughters.

Arabella could understand their worries since their children were indeed very much precious. And Ferdinand indeed had quite a scary reputation.

They trusted him when it came to strength and battle but they were worried when it came to his temper and his possible treatment towards their daughters if they were sent to the Imperial Palace as maids.

Likewise, since Arabella’s hand was sought after by many men, and she was broken apart from Prince Andrew who was her lover back then, they feared that she might be conceited, haughty, and too spoiled and would be terrible on her maids.

They feared that she might cause a lot of trouble and end up with their daughters and even their entire household getting punished.

She learned from their thoughts that they decided to a wait-and-see approach and see what Arabella would be like first before sending any of their daughters.

Thus, only four houses who were willing to gamble sent one of their daughters to the Imperial Palace. And that was how Arabella had Renee, Irene, Carla, and Eunice as her maids.

After hearing and seeing for themselves that Arabella had accepted her role as the Empress of Valeria and had accepted Ferdinand, they were finally willing to send their daughters.

Especially since Arabella had treated all her maids and assistants well so far.

Moreover, it was clear from how Ferdinand treated her that he listened to her. It meant that if they tried to get close to her, they would have better chances of raising their household’s social status rather than trying to get close to Ferdinand whom they were sure was nigh impossible of a task after all their failed attempts.

After all, even now, Ferdinand was clearly shutting them down.

[His Majesty sure holds grudges. He could have said that when Her Majesty was not around. How could Her Majesty build more support here if he crashes it like this?]

The Head Minister of the Imperial Family’s Public Relations sighed knowing that Ferdinand sucked at maintaining good relationships with the nobles.

That was exactly why they could not do their job to clean up his reputation since Ferdinand himself did not carefully choose everything he said in front of the nobles.

They could only minimize the effect of his words and try to clarify his intentions. And of course, do the interviews that Ferdinand never did with the local journalists.

[Now that she knows about it, what if Her Majesty thinks everyone here doesn’t like her which was why only four households sent one of their daughters each?]

The Head Minister was worried Arabella would get offended and avoid interacting with most of the people here because of it.

"I believe everyone must have had their reasons," the Head Minister tried to save the situation.

Ferdinand glanced at Arabella and said, "I hope so. What do you think, My Empress?"

"Since there are a lot of matters at hand and everyone is occupied at the moment, I believe we can save it for later when the need arises. I have enough maids for now since just this morning, a new maid began working for me," Arabella announced.

[There’s already a new maid?!]

[Why didn’t we know about this?!]

[From which household is it?!]

Everyone looked around searching for someone who would look proud since whoever would, was likely the household the new maid was from.

However, no one did. After all, they used a household in Riva that was supposed to have fallen due to having no heirs (but was actually a servant of the former emperor who returned with them to Estrella). Their alibi was that Blanca was kept hidden for her safety until she was of age.

"She was sent by His Eminence."

Arabella said what they had planned so that the nobles would not go against it. And likewise, so they would stop sending portraits to Alwin.

As expected, they all looked at Alwin this time. A lot of the nobles had horrified faces as Alwin confirmed it. But the others were also relieved.

"Yes, the new maid is my fiancee. I asked her to head here several months ago so she could train to be one of Her Majesty’s maids," Alwin confirmed to put an end to one of his headaches.

[I see. If it’s His Eminence’s fiancee, then there’s nothing we could do.]

[I’m relieved it’s not someone from the most powerful houses again.]

[I thought it was only a rumor that His Eminence had a fiancee. So it’s true. My daughters would be heartbroken. It seems His Eminence would no longer remain a bachelor.]

[This is bad. The doors are closing. My eldest daughter was supposed to try becoming His Eminence’s bride.]

[Why didn’t we hear that His Eminence has a fiancee?]

The nobles’ focus was shifted to Alwin. Those who already heard that he had a fiance were not that surprised.

Meanwhile, others thought it was only a baseless rumor. But now, Alwin confirmed it himself.
