Chapter 482: Those Who Tormented Dimo
Chapter 482: Those Who Tormented Dimo
’Ferdinand would be a kind and loving father. And surely, overprotective.’
His protective instincts were already getting triggered just by seeing Dimo with his knees on the couch after all.
’But we already agreed to have children later. He cannot take it back now. We also have a lot to do.’
Arabella also believed that they needed to solve some of the most major problems they were facing first, before having a child.
It was too dangerous with those magicians still lurking around and that entity meddling in things.
’We at least need Evania to return home before that, so I won’t have to worry about her getting controlled or something and trying to plot things again.’
And most importantly, they needed to find Alwin first and foremost.
. . .
When Dimo was much livelier again, Arabella conversed with him until their topic drifted off to how he should act and speak in front of Sonia later.
Riley had apparently let Dimo watch a record of their conversation last time.
Dimo was so amazed by the recording magic orb, so he attentively paid attention to the conversation and watched it several times.
Thus, Dimo already knew what he was supposed to do or say later.
He got nervous again at the thought of meeting Sonia and the Head Butler, but Arabella assured him they would be with him so the two would not be able to harm him.
When they reached the castle, Dimo was left in the carriage and was guarded by Valerian knights.
Riley would fetch him once it was time for him to show up.
Sonia and the Head Butler were at the front entrance waiting for them.
They understood it was a very important guest since the Duke himself went to welcome them from the road leading to the duchy.
’So, these are the people who tried to kill Dimo,’ Arabella did her best to smile at them as they greeted her and Ferdinand.
[Why are the Emperor and Empress themselves here?! I thought they would only send a representative. Are they that furious that someone went near the road?]
"W-Welcome to Olivier Dukedom," Sonia was stiff even as she smiled.
[There is still no news of Dimo so he’s likely dead. They must have caught him and disposed of him elsewhere. We didn’t find his body no matter how we searched so he didn’t die from hunger or injury. There’s no way he’s still alive somewhere. I had everyone search the entire duchy for him while the Duke was not back.]
’Look at this woman’s thoughts. She’s truly set on eliminating Dimo. And she doesn’t even look like she felt bad about it in the least bit,’ Arabella did her best not to glare after hearing Sonia’s thoughts.
[The people I sent to kill him who went near the road also did not return. There was not a trace of them so they must have been caught by Valerian knights and executed. But why are these two here? If they were here to discuss those, wouldn’t sending a representative be much easier and more comfortable for them?]
Sonia was in a panic and was visibly getting sweaty. The Head Butler as well.
Looking at the Head Butler, Arabella could see that he indeed had a resemblance with Duke Olivier so it wouldn’t be suspicious if the children resembled him in some way.
[Her Imperial Majesty is even more beautiful than the paintings I have seen of her. But she looks so different compared to those paintings.]
’I have paintings even here?’ Arabella was surprised. But then again, this butler was closely associated with Duke Olivier so he had likely mingled with other royals and had seen portraits of them.
[The aura is so different. She looked pure and innocent in the paintings. But in person, she has such a strong presence. She had only been an Empress for a few months, but she already had the aura of the Queen of Loranne. No, even stronger. She looks regal and gorgeous but at the same time dangerous. Or is it because of this terrifying man beside her?]
The Head Butler glanced at Ferdinand and froze when he met Ferdinand’s glare.
[Why is he glaring at me?! Ah, did he catch me looking at his wife?]
The Head Butler quickly bowed his head in apology and kept looking at the ground.
Servants were not supposed to stare at their master’s guest after all, but he had the audacity to do so because, in his mind, he would be the next Duke soon.
[The rumors about him are indeed true. What a dangerous person. He’s oozing bloodlust just because I gazed at his wife for a few seconds. He’s already furious because of that? I must be careful. They said he doesn’t really care much about the rules of other kingdoms. He might kill me even if I am currently the Head Butler here.]
’He does care. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have had to hide the fact that he went monster hunting on several mountains in Eliora repeatedly in the past. He would have just had us teleported directly into this castle as well rather than being in the carriage...’
Arabella had a long explanation in her mind but didn’t say a word. It was a waste of time to explain to people who might not even listen.
Moreover, this person was of no value to her, so she didn’t need to correct his misconceptions even if it annoyed her.
[But why didn’t His Grace tell us that it was the Emperor and Empress of Valeria that would visit? Or did he also not know it was them who would come in person.]
Sonia glanced at her husband.
[No, he sent us a message while he was in Medeus that he would have very important guests that would visit the duchy. And yesterday, suddenly, he said those guests would come today. I thought that perhaps it was someone from the Loranne royalty. But it was royalty from Valeria instead. Does this mean they had the chance to talk while they were in Medeus?]
