Chapter 477: To Olivier

"I’m the one who has to prove I deserve to be by your side, not you," Ferdinand said when they broke apart for air.

Thankfully, they were alone. Ferdinand had already dismissed Rendell, so he didn’t witness their intense kiss just now.

"What do you mean? You don’t have to do that either," Arabella said after catching her breath.

"I do. After how I married you without asking for your opinion or trying to get your affection first," Ferdinand was still regretful about that.

They ended up trying to assure each other that they didn’t have to prove anything, but both were determined to prove they deserved to be by each other’s side because of their past experiences.

Thus, they went to have dinner instead and set the topic aside or they will talk about it for a while.

Dinner was fun since they were together and they both ate well.

Ferdinand spent the night with her and once again went to work when she was asleep.

The following day, when Arabella went to her study, all his work she was supposed to do was gone.

Even Raymond’s workload was done. Ferdinand and Rowan worked on all of it. Thus, the work left for her assistants to do for the day was only the work she had assigned Ivan.

Ferdinand did not dare touch it since he didn’t know how she wanted those done. She had already instructed Ivan what needed to be done with those too, so Ferdinand let it be.

Once breakfast was over, Arabella headed to her study again. She waited for her assistants to arrive so she could instruct them before heading to Olivier. She did some of her work while waiting for the two.

Ferdinand and Rowan meanwhile, were preparing for their departure.

"Greetings to Your Majesty."

Ronald and Ivan were relieved to see it was her on her table today, not Ferdinand.

They arrived much earlier than they should have because Ferdinand was early yesterday. Not wanting to seem lazy, they arrived much earlier than they used to and ensured their posture was right as they had not always maintained their posture.

’They always arrive earlier than they should be. They have nothing to worry about and didn’t have to arrive so early,’ Arabella wanted to tell them but didn’t want to kill their enthusiasm.

[Where did all the documents here go?] Ronald wondered when he noticed his empty table. He was puzzled to see that the documents he was supposed to work on with Rowan were all gone.

"His Majesty and Rowan already did all the documents there last night. You will work with Ivan this time," Arabella explained.

[They did everything last night?! I could have worked with them. Why didn’t they instruct me to stay? I know I’m still far from Raymond’s level, but am I that bad? Was I too incompetent?!] Ronald paled.

"My deepest apologies for being so incompetent," Ronald bowed deeply. "Please give me another chance, I will do my best and try to improve."

’Why would he think of it that way?’ Arabella was speechless for a few seconds so Ronald remained bowing.

"No, that’s not it. Lift your head, Ronald. His Majesty simply wanted to do everything while he was here since more work would be delivered from the Imperial Palace soon. You will work on those with Rowan later. For now, you and Ivan will be doing the task I assigned to him last time."

Arabella explained but Ronald maintained his bow, unsure if she was simply coating her words with sugar or if she was saying the truth.

Ivan noticed that the documents on his table were not as much as yesterday’s.

He glanced at Arabella’s table and understood that the same thickness of documents gone from his table was now on hers.

[Ah, Her Majesty did some. Was I taking too long? Was I also incompetent that she decided to do it herself?! Now, Ronald was even assigned to work with me.]

"My deepest apologies for being incompetent, Your Majesty" Ivan bowed deeply as well, copying Ronald. "I will also do my best to improve so please give me another chance too."

The two thought they would be reprimanded or worse yet replaced.

’Oh my. What’s with these two? They both have such high standards even for themselves that they do not realize they are already very much competent.’

"Lift your heads. You two are not incompetent. I just decided to do a bit of work since I won’t be working with you again today," Arabella said and the two finally looked up.

[Then, will His Majesty be here again?!!]

They were in a panic at the thought that it would be Ferdinand working with them again.

"Get seated first," Arabella instructed and the two stiffly walked to their seats.

Once they were seated, she finally spoke so they wouldn’t get too jittery.

"His Majesty and I, along with Rowan, have something to do, so we won’t be here for the entire day. Only the two of you will be working here. If you need anything, just tell the butlers. And make sure to take breaks and eat your meals on time."

Arabella had to instruct them to eat and take breaks since they might overwork themselves and ignore those just to finish all the work.

They sighed in relief when they realized they were simply overthinking. But they didn’t dare be complacent since there was a possibility that doing the work assigned to Ivan was their last chance.

They were also curious about where Arabella would be heading but didn’t dare ask.

Arabella could not tell them yet either since she wasn’t sure how things would unfold.

When she was done instructing them about work, she met up with Ferdinand and Rowan. They teleported to the agreed meet-up point with Duke Olivier.

They would not use their official carriage so that everyone in Olivier would not know that it was Arabella and Ferdinand themselves who visited Olivier.

The carriage they were about to use had a Valerian design but did not have their insignia or that of any of the households so it would remain a mystery who visited Olivier that day. Unless Sonia and the butler, or any of their accomplices would have the chance to reveal they visited in person.

As agreed before, they would pretend to have just stopped by Olivier for a bit to send Dimo home, but the goal was to have Sonia sign the agreement for Dimo to stay in Riva.
