Chapter 407: Stay in Estrella for a Month [Bonus Chapter]

"Stop admiring them. You already have His Majesty," Alwin reminded her when she kept looking at the two with a smile on her face.

"You are misunderstanding my intentions, Alwin. I was just thinking Renee would like them a lot. Unless she recovers her memories, it may be hard for her to choose between the two," Arabella explained.

Alwin was so loyal to his lord, so Arabella had an uptight watcher. But it’s not like she needed to be wary since she was not planning on cheating on her husband.

"Who cares about that? If she leaves with them, that’s all that matters. She’s such a handful while she’s here."

Arabella chuckled as she got a glimpse of Alwin thinking about the times Renee kept following him around. He was still irked about it. It would indeed be rather annoying and creepy to have someone tail you like that. But she recalled something Alwin said earlier.

"What if she doesn’t want to go once, she recovers her memories? Didn’t you say she wanted to live in a place with abundant sunlight?"

"She had lived in the sun as she wished. For three lives at that. But she only suffered more here than she ever did at her home."

That was also true. But people always long for what they do not have. It seems not only humans were like that. The long-lived races too.

If Evania did not leave her abode, she would forever wonder what it was like to live in a place with abundant sunlight. And someday, she would have regrets for not trying to go to a place like that.

Even if she suffered here living as a human, at least she was able to try living in the place of her dreams. Even if it wasn’t the kind of life she wanted to live, she would not have regrets about not trying to come here at all.

At least Evania tried, rather than not trying at all and then regretting it later. That, in itself, takes a lot of courage. It must have been a difficult decision to break the rules and leave her family behind.

[She has that expression on her face again.]

"What? You are sympathizing with her too? Do not pity everyone. She already made you suffer a lot in the past life. If you keep pitying everyone and sympathizing with them, you are the one who’s going to suffer again," Alwin scolded her when he noticed she was feeling bad for Evania.

He had a point. No matter what Evania’s dreams were, she, as Renee, fooled her and used her as she pleased in the past. She should not waver if she doesn’t want to be the one who ends up suffering and not getting what she wanted to accomplish in this life.

At least, Renee did think that her life in Riva was so much better than her previous lives. That she did have a good life as Evelyn in her early days, but it only changed for the worst when she got married to Chester. And that her life as the sickly girl helped her realize how blessed she had been when she was Evelyn. It was also why she was able to appreciate that her life as Renee was the best among the three since she wasn’t sickly, nor did she have a cruel husband.

All Arabella could do for her, was continue to let her live her life as Renee, much freer than she ever was as Evelyn or the sickly girl before she returns home so that she would at least have good memories of her time living here.

And at least, by returning home to Umbra, Evania wouldn’t have to commit crimes and use people to get revenge for an identity that was not even hers.

Moreover, since Evania was a Princess in Umbra, her family, fiancé, and her loyal guard would likely not just forgive Chester and Fatima for making her suffer here. If she still wanted to get revenge, she would have them to support her. Thus, Renee would not need to team up with Marcus or use Arabella.

"I know. I won’t change my mind," she assured Alwin.

If Evania would say she wanted to stay here in the human realm despite all her negative experiences here, it would no longer be Arabella’s problem, as long as she does not cause trouble for her or lived elsewhere.

"Oh, and stay in Estrella while I am away. I have spoken with His Majesty. Since you both planned to have your honeymoon, make it a month or more. Do not go to Valeria while I am away. Do not visit Olivier yet either. I have assigned one of my comrades to watch over Duke Olivier so he wouldn’t die. That was what you were trying to prevent, right?"

"Yes. But why can’t I go back to Valeria? A month is too long. We have a lot of work to do."

"Do you really think His Majesty would accept a single night after you made him wait for months?" Alwin asked her and she did not respond since her husband would not be satisfied indeed.

’But an entire month is too long. I will die. My body won’t be able to take it.’

She thought they would only be in Estrella for a few days. It seems her husband had other plans.

"It is also just in case Evania gets to meet with Marcus in one way or another. I am having her tailed to prevent it. I don’t want to come back and find you and His Majesty both dead again," Alwin grimaced.

"Eh? So, when you came to the Magic Tower that time, you have just returned?" Arabella blinked several times.

"Yes, if I was there, I wouldn’t have simply watched everything end up that way. I had volunteered to search for Evania’s origins and return her. But it took me too long. It had just been a few days after I returned to Estrella. I had reported to the King first since Raymond prohibited me from returning to Valeria. He said he would report my return first. But then I received an emergency summons from His Majesty. And I learned why when I felt him dying in his human form. I rushed to the Magic Tower, but I was too late."
