Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 402: We Should Go

Chapter 402: We Should Go

"To head to Estrella," Ferdinand said with a gleam in his eyes.

’Right, we were supposed to go there and go all the way once the Assembly is over,’ she gulped.

Arabella nonchalantly accepting a ring from another man, made Ferdinand want to mark her his completely, as if to remind her she had promised herself to him. And likewise, assure himself she was indeed his.

That was her mistake indeed. Maybe she could have asked the Pope for a bracelet or another item so it wouldn’t be a ring. But it didn’t cross her mind earlier. She noted to be more thoughtful in accepting gifts next time.

She was still used to her practices as an Empress in the past life to accept every gift given to her. After all, it was rude to reject a gift. Royals usually accept gifts even if it was clearly an insult or even if they plan to just throw it or give away the gifts they received later.

[Why isn’t she answering? Did she change her mind?] Ferdinand began to get nervous. [Did you?]

Arabella hugged him and her husband was wide-eyed.

"I’m sorry for making you feel bad earlier," she looked up to get a peek at his face.

"Yes. I do still feel bad."

[So, embrace me tighter.]

Arabella smiled at his thoughts and embraced him tighter indeed.

"But why are you changing the subject? Did you change your mind? Tell me while we are still here. Once we head to Estrella, I’m not sure I can accept a no," Ferdinand cupped her face with both hands, so she won’t avoid his gaze.

He gave her no room for escape. He wanted a direct answer.

"I just wanted to apologize to you first," she assured him. "I’m ready and I won’t change my mind."

"Are you sure? Once we are there, there are no takebacks."

"Yes, I’m ready. I have been, ever since I told you about it," Arabella said and earned a lingering kiss from her husband.

"Then, I look forward to it," Ferdinand’s eyes glinted. Only after realizing he might seem a bit too eager when it comes to that did his ears turn red.

"Me too," Arabella felt the heat rise to her face. Why was she getting embarrassed too? Was it because she was also eager?

There were still things they haven’t discussed about what happened earlier but here they were already thinking about getting hot and dirty. Is this why she was getting embarrassed?

Ferdinand gazed at her and caressed her cheek. She gulped at the look in his eyes. Her throat suddenly felt dry, and she could not look away from his eyes.

He caressed her lips, and she knew from his eyes what was coming next. And she was right. His lips came crashing down on hers. It was just for a second. And it made her want more. She wrapped her arms around his neck when he granted it and made his lips linger this time.

One of his hands went to the back of her head, while the other wrapped around her waist and pulled her close.

Arabella felt his hunger and need, and it made something inside her churn. It made her happy that he wanted her this much and she wanted to gratify him. They have been pent up for a while and the thought that they could finally go all the way thrilled her too.

Before she knew it, her back was against the wall, and she was clinging to Ferdinand’s neck. Her knees went weak from all his eager kisses and yet she was welcoming more of it and responding in turn.

"I think, we should go now," Ferdinand said between ragged breaths. He looked like he was on the brink of losing his mind.

"Yes, I think so too," she agreed, and her husband gave her one more eager kiss. It was clear he intended for it to just be peck but they both wanted something more than pecks and kissed some more.

Knock. Knock.

They both paused at the sound of someone knocking. Yet, they continued kissing again.

"Your Majesty?"

It was Alwin. But both of them ignored him and just kept kissing.

"Uhm, please save whatever you are doing for later. Her Majesty’s family wish to speak with her," Alwin said, and Arabella and Ferdinand finally stopped.

They felt like they were suddenly doused with cold water after getting too hot. They both checked each other’s clothes and fixed them. Ferdinand also fixed her hair and vice versa.

But their hearts were still racing too fast. They took slow deep breaths and calmed themselves.

"We haven’t even gone to Estrella yet," Arabella chuckled. They haven’t even said proper goodbyes to her family yet. They got too eager.

"Right. I got too excited. I’m sorry."

"You don’t have to apologize. I did too. But since our plans for today got ruined, let us settle things here first before leaving so there would be no problems once we are there," Arabella his hand.

"Yes, that would indeed be for the best," Ferdinand gave her a peck on the lips and gave her hand a squeeze.

"Shall we go? Your family must be worried because of the monster attack."

They finally got out of her room and Alwin who was waiting, made a face upon seeing them holding hands. He quickly hid it though when Ferdinand raised his brows at him.

’Right. We didn’t even give him a reply, so he just waited.’

Alwin was sure they would get out since he mentioned her family.

[Are lovers always like this? If they are I don’t want to ever fall in love. We were supposed to discuss the attack earlier, but they went to her room once we returned. I knew His Majesty was pissed about the ring, but by the looks of it, they were not quarreling but doing something else instead.]

’Haha. Sorry, Alwin. Sometimes, the mind just doesn’t work as usual when the feelings get too strong. You will understand someday once you fall in love,’ she felt bad for making him wait but they didn’t have the time to explain. And her husband was clearly not one to explain or make excuses about what they were doing.

Ferdinand simply asked Alwin, "Was there something, in particular, they wanted to speak about?"

"Yes. But they wanted to speak with just Her Majesty first. There was also a letter from her father inviting Your Majesty to one last meeting before everyone begins leaving," Alwin said, and Ferdinand wondered why he was excluded.

"Go and attend the meeting. I’ll tell you later what we talked about," she assured him.

"I see. Alright then, but can you have your conversation here instead of at the palace? The attackers might come back. I am more assured to know you are here since they could not break Alwin’s barrier."

"Yes, of course. I’ll invite my family here instead," Arabella agreed so her husband could attend the meeting worriless.

Alwin then told Riley and he was the one who informed her parents about it.

Riley then teleported her mother and brother to the mansion. Ferdinand gave him their regards before leaving to attend the meeting he was invited to.

Arabella eyed her mother and was relieved that she looked much calmer than she did earlier.

"Arabella are you sure you were not attacked by monsters in Valeria?" her mother inquired.

[She looked way too calm earlier as if she had already experienced it before, so she was not terrified of the monsters. She used to cry a lot after attacks from them.] Her brother thought.

"I wasn’t. There were no attacks on the Imperial Palace. Not a single one," Arabella assured them. "However, there was a territory we went to that was attacked by monsters. My husband and his knights killed all the monsters so easily, so I wasn’t in a panic earlier. I was assured they could deal with the monsters."

Her mother frowned upon hearing this.

"Did any monster try to get close to where you were just like earlier?" Benjamin asked.

"No. The monsters were attacking randomly," she assured them.

"I see. That’s a relief then. I was in a panic earlier, but I remember your guard knight was able to kill a lot of the monsters. Now, I understand why he was assigned to you," her mother smiled at Rendell. He bowed in thanks for the compliment.

"Yes. He is very strong. So, there’s no need to worry about me. I am more worried about everyone back in Lobelius. We don’t even have magicians there. Now that I thought about it, why don’t we have a single magician at home?" Arabella decided to ask while she had the chance.

Benjamin glanced at their mother and the latter sighed.

"We used to hire magicians. But all the magicians we hired met unfortunate incidents and decided to quit. It happened again and again until we decided to stop hiring one since all of them quit way too soon anyway," her mother sighed deeply.
