Chapter 370: Showing Off

Chester and Fatima bade their goodbyes formally.

Arabella learned from their thoughts that they were to ride their carriage until they reach the exit of the gates of Medeus.

Once they were out, they would have Marcus teleport them to the kingdom in Eliora bordering Zygos. They didn’t want to traverse the roads on a foreign continent.

They didn’t trust Eliora despite having the agreement to be allies.

Arabella understood though since there could be assassins waiting for them.

But Zygos had no particular enemy in Eliora except perhaps for Ferdinand after Chester provoked him.

Her father wasn’t one to provoke fights they could not win either so Lobelius wouldn’t dare do something.

Chester escorted Fatima to her carriage before walking to his own. They were riding separately as royals usually do.

Arabella froze when he glanced her way and smiled.

[I may not have been able to get a taste of her now, but I can come back later.

See you next time, little flower.] Chester thought.

’That bastard! What is he planning to do now?!’ Arabella glared.

Ferdinand’s arm wrapped around her waist.

She turned to look at her husband and was surprised at how close his face was.

[Please pardon me.] He thought and captured her lips.

Arabella didn’t want to do this in front of other people.

But because she was so annoyed at Chester, she cupped Ferdinand’s face and responded to his kiss.

She could feel her husband’s smile against her lips before he kissed her more intimately.

Instead of stopping Ferdinand, Arabella kept responding.

She wanted to show Chester that she was also smitten by Ferdinand, so he better stop planning to seduce her since he had no chance at all.

When they broke apart, it was Chester who was glaring this time.

[Bastards!

Let’s see how long that relationship of yours last!]

Chester was pissed as he walked into his carriage and slammed it close.

Arabella stopped a chuckle.

The furious expression on Chester’s face was so much better than his oh-so-pretentious smile.

She glanced at her husband and he had a smug smile on his face.

He was happy and proud that they kissed in front of other people.

’. . .’

It was then that Arabella realized the other royals saw the entire thing.

She looked around and her father was smiling in approval since he hated Chester’s dirty glances at her too.

Her brother who came in her mother’s place was frowning deeply.

Meanwhile, the queens were blushing, and the kings were pretending to not have seen it and glued their eyes to the Zygos’ carriage as it drew away.

Icarus, meanwhile...

She completely forgot about him.

Icarus was frozen.

[T-They kissed!

They kissed in front of everyone.]

Icarus was horrified.

Both from the fact that he saw his beloved kiss with his former best friend and the fact that the indifferent Ferdinand was smiling after a kiss with her.

It was a nightmare for him.

’I’m so sorry!’

Arabella didn’t mean to show that to Icarus.

She only wanted to show Chester she loves Ferdinand too.

Arabella glanced at her husband and he was giving Icarus a provoking look while his arms were still wrapped around her as if screaming she was his.

That Icarus would never have a chance.

[This childish bastard!

He didn’t do that just to show off to King Chester.

He intentionally did it because he wanted me to see it too.]

Icarus glared at Ferdinand.

The air between the two was so tense. It was as if the air itself was crackling.

’I have to break them apart before this gets worse.’

"They have departed.

Shall we go back?

There are still a lot of things to do," Arabella said to distract her husband.

They needed to leave before this gets worse.

They were not obligated to watch until the carriage was out of sight anyway.

"Oh, right. Of course.

There are indeed a lot of things we need to do.

We must hurry," Arabella gasped when Ferdinand scooped her up and walked out of there.

He was provoking Icarus further and implied that they were too eager to be intimate so they have no time to waste.

Arabella wanted to hit Ferdinand since everyone else was watching them and got the same message.

She felt the heat rise to her face and she covered it with both palms.

Arabella might just die of embarrassment before they even reached the carriage.

Her father and brother were also among the royals there.

"Geez. What were you trying to accomplish right there?

That was so embarrassing.

My father and brother witnessed it too," Arabella complained once they were in the carriage.

"Nothing much. I just wanted to go back quickly too," Ferdinand lied.

[I have already shown off to Chester.

Might as well ward off Icarus too.

He’s such a persistent bastard.]

"See? You were trying to do something else.

I understand showing off to Chester, so I played along.

But why are you doing that to King Icarus?

Isn’t he your friend?" Arabella decided to ask directly.

[Oh, right. She heard about that too.]

"He once was.

But he is my enemy now.

Anyone who wants to take you away from me is my enemy.

I will never let him have you," Ferdinand made a serious expression.

"Of course, he won’t have me.

I’m already married to you, and I will follow you to Estrella.

That’s the plan, right?

So why are you still going this far?"

"I’m wary of my rivals.

I know you have feelings for me now.

But that doesn’t mean I would let my guard down.

I don’t want to wake up someday and suddenly realize you’re gone," Ferdinand was stubborn.

[Why is my chest suddenly aching?] He rubbed his chest.

"Are you alright?" Arabella was wide-eyed as she watched Ferdinand regulate his breathing as he rubbed his chest.

"Just thinking that Icarus or anyone else would be able to steal you makes my heart ache.

I get this suffocating and crumpling feeling in my chest."

Arabella gulped.

Ferdinand may not have memories of the past, but he seemed to always react the most when it comes to Icarus.

He could feel it by instinct.
