Chapter 362: Capture the Culprit [Bonus Chapter]

"What trials did Ferdinand go through to revive me?" Arabella couldn’t help but ask.

"See? You just read my thoughts.

I will tell you after you fully believe me.

But before that, break your hairpin first.

I can restore it back to how it was before once His Majesty is here.

But I’m sure His Majesty would prefer to do it himself in Estrella later."

Alwin said that in case Ferdinand does not believe whatever reason they tell him, they can admit the issue about Renee since he had already reported about it last time.

"Your ability to read minds would also be more useful if His Majesty also knew about it.

We can use it for a lot of things."

That was true.

"But would it be alright?

I have also been wanting to tell him at least about this ability first.

But how would I explain it?"

Arabella hadn’t been able to tell since this ability only appeared after she was reborn.

If she had told them, Alwin would have known about her secrets earlier too.

She was already ninety percent sure this was truly Alwin.

She only needed Ferdinand to verify it too just for sure.

But does she need to reveal her secret to verify it?

Alwin’s point was true though.

She hadn’t been able to use her ability more productively because she kept it hidden.

She feared that other people knowing about it would complicate things. Thus, she tried to hide it.

Alwin still discovered her though.

Once Ferdinand was also aware of it, she could tell him the information she was able to gather through it.

It was also so that Ferdinand wouldn’t be too left behind.

If only she and Alwin had secrets, she felt like they were leaving him out.

He would likely feel terrible once he learns that he was the one left out once the time comes to tell him everything.

Arabella then broke her hairpin into two by hitting it against the edge of her table.

And, in a few seconds, Ferdinand arrived with Riley.

"Arabella?!"

Ferdinand’s eyes scanned the room in alarm.

He sighed in relief upon seeing she was alright. He was worried something could have happened to her.

"Ferdinand, you’re back," she pretended not to know the reason.

"I came to check on you.

Are you alright?

Did something happen?"

Ferdinand eyed her from head to foot.

"I’m alright.

There’s no need to worry.

I just had a bit of a headache due to the sudden rain when it

was so hot earlier," she intentionally said that so he wouldn’t leave her side.

It was just in case this person here was Marcus and not Alwin.

"You should take a break from work.

I’m done with the meeting, so I’ll accompany you," Ferdinand said Arabella smiled.

Her husband glanced at the broken hairpin on the table.

"Ah, I’m so sorry. I accidentally broke it," Arabella fidgeted.

"It’s alright.

I can fix it for you later.

If you don’t like it, I can make a new one for you."

Her husband could tell the hairpin was not accidentally broken and thought she must not have liked it.

"I like it very much," Arabella quickly said.

Ferdinand picked up the hairpin.

[Hmm.

It has traces of Alwin’s mana.

I felt his magic earlier too.

He was the one who made it rain.

Did something happen?]

"This scent. It’s Alwin’s blood."

Ferdinand frowned. He looked around and was wide-eyed at the drops he saw on the carpet.

[Who did Alwin fight with to get injured?!

I have never heard him return from a fight with injuries.]

It was clear from the expression on his face that he didn’t like the thought of Alwin getting injured at all.

"Did an intruder come?

Was the fight intense?

How come you are injured?

Have you healed?"

Ferdinand walked to Alwin and scrutinized him.

"The scent came from here," Ferdinand grabbed the hand that Arabella stabbed earlier and stared at it closely.

[Hmm. He healed it already.

Who dares hurt Alwin?

I’ve never seen him bleed ever since I took him in.

The last time was six thousand years ago.

He was bleeding here and there when I picked him up from the burning forest upon sensing the presence of a young elf.

I taught him everything I could so he could protect himself and survive even without me.

How come he got injured here in the human realm where his possible enemies would have been much weaker?

Were the humans up to tricks again and toyed with him?]

Ferdinand’s brows furrowed deeper and deeper.

"Who was it?

Was it that magician?

Was he that powerful?

Let’s capture the culprit right now.

We can’t just let him go after he hurt you.

If you are not feeling well, I can summon Zion and the others since it seems that the magician is more powerful than he looks if he managed to injure you."

Ferdinand was ready to attack.

There was no ounce of hesitation even though the talks of being allies with Zygos had just concluded.

Alwin looked away.

He was the one who suggested it was just from a shard, but now, he didn’t feel like telling Ferdinand a lame reason as he did with Rendell.

Especially with Ferdinand unexpectedly overreacting like this.

He didn’t look it, but he truly treasured Alwin.

He may not have been affectionate to Alwin in the way he raised him, but it was clear Alwin was very important to him.

He only did not have many chances to worry before since Alwin could take care of himself.

But now that he learns Alwin got injured, he didn’t like it this much.

He was ready to kill whoever hurt Alwin.

And Arabella was the culprit.

’I’m so sorry my dear, I am that human who dared hurt your little Alwin.’

"Uhm, Dear, the talks with Zygos just ended and we had agreed to be allies.

We cannot attack them," Arabella reminded.

"We can’t.

But if they attacked first, we could always retaliate.

And we can just capture the magician alone instead of causing a ruckus," Ferdinand had no plans to back down.
