Ferdinand then explained that among his cohorts, Rendell and his kind were among the ones who cannot pick up her scent at all.

Rendell did not know the scent of Arabella’s pheromones and can only determine the smell of the artificial human scents on her.

This was why Ferdinand picked Rendell to be her personal guard.

Aside from being competent enough to beat Ferdinand’s strict requirements, Rendell could be exposed to her scent daily without any problems.

It was also why Ferdinand was not wary of Rendell but got jealous of Raymond and Alwin.

Not being able to pick up Arabella’s pheromones removed the possibility of Rendell ever considering her as a possible mate.

"Right, I still don’t know what Rendell is," Arabella inquired.

"He is a giant," Ferdinand revealed.

"Oh, giants also exist?! How huge is he then?"

"Forty meters tall. He’s among the remaining bigger giants of the younger generations. He looks exactly just like he does now but simply a bigger version."

"Oh, my goodness! That’s huge. He can ruin a palace with one attack," Arabella gasped, and Ferdinand chuckled.

"Why would you think of him attacking?"

[Rendell is quite a gentle person. He just seems to switch to a different person when he’s in a fight because he gets serious.]

"Well, he is famous for being one of your most trusted Generals. I heard he is a really good fighter," Arabella reasoned.

It must have been her self-preservation instincts as a human too. She simply kept thinking about how they could wipe out humanity in one go.

It was no wonder humans had to be separated from the long-lived races.

Upon learning a new kind of long-lived race, Arabella herself ended up thinking about how humans could just be wiped out if they wanted to.

Being weak when compared to such powerful beings made humans wary and fearful.

Now she understood another reason why the gods decided that the two races living separately would make the two flourish more compared to living together.

"Well, yes. Rendell is one of the best fighters among the giants. However, Rendell preferred being in his human form which was much smaller but can move agile and quickly at the same pace as the other kinds and even much faster. Thus, he usually remained in the human form you know. When he uses an even smaller form, he is much faster," her husband explained.

He said that smaller beings usually perceive the larger beings to move and speak slowly. It was like how flies and ants perceive humans to move and speak slowly.

Giants were perceived by other races as such because of the difference in size and perspective.

Remaining in a smaller form allowed Rendell to move at the same pace and live in the same perspective.

"Oh, and I trained him myself," Ferdinand bragged.

Rendell could indeed hear them outside and he was happy Ferdinand was proud of him. He thought of training even more.

"Giants once rivaled dragons in strength. They were among the kind that was fun to fight with and pose a real threat," Ferdinand seemed to like giants since they could give a good fight. He said he once provoked them a lot so they would fight him.

According to Ferdinand, giants were once more colossal, but they gradually became smaller. They were usually just 25 meters now and those who reach 40 meters like Rendell have become rare when such height was once considered small among the giants.

But they were still huge compared to humans, so they were treated as among the most dangerous. Thus, they were among the ones that were almost wiped out by humans about six thousand years ago.

Just like dragons, there were only a few giants left and they have their own island in Estrella.

Giants usually only marry their own kind but those who preferred to be in their human form, like Rendell could intermarry.

And Rendell was still single, but he had no plans to get married yet even though he was already considered old among his peers.

Due to his kind almost getting wiped out, he simply wanted to keep improving his fighting skills. Thus, he kept following Ferdinand.

"I hope you don’t fear Rendell because of this. Giants are gentle and peaceful beings. We dragons are more violent than they ever were. Not that we attack without a purpose. Dragons and giants alike are only violent when provoked. We were usually interpreted as attacking when we were merely hunting for food, and they were preventing us from doing so. Or they were encroaching on our territory. But giants do not eat other kinds without reason. Giants usually eat vegetation and wild animals. They do not eat other races," Ferdinand clarified.

"I won’t be scared of Rendell. He had been guarding me since I was sent to Valeria," Arabella assured her husband. "What about you? What do you eat as a dragon?"

"Animals. I usually hunt animals I eat. I like meat," Ferdinand replied.

Arabella already knew though. He loved meat very much even in their past life.

She learned from his thoughts as well that he only began eating vegetables and fruits when he was given a human body. He only ate it because it was required to maintain a healthy body.

But even so, he still doesn’t eat much more than what was required.

He was only eating more fruits and vegetables lately since Arabella prefers them over meat.

He wanted to understand why she likes them, but he still preferred meat anyway.

"Oh, and we dragons don’t eat other races as well. I don’t eat humans or other kinds. Perhaps, only when furious. We could eat whatever we want if we went berserk or to take vengeance. The younger dragons who survived the Great War ate a lot of humans out of anger when our kind almost got wiped out," Ferdinand clarified.

It was probably where the stories of dragons eating humans originated.

Those who witnessed it probably wrote about it or told the following generation and it was passed on due to how terrifying of a sight it was.
