Chapter 340: So Much Better Than Tea
{My apologies, Your Majesty. It was due to my lack of foresight. I will definitely be more careful next time.}
Alwin instantly apologized especially since he sensed Ferdinand’s sour mood hadn’t subsided yet.
[I can’t possibly admit, I was lost in thought, so I was not able to prevent them from meeting. I sensed people approaching but I didn’t expect it was them. And now, Evania got to meet them much earlier than before.]
Alwin didn’t know how to report the matter about Evania since Ferdinand was in a bad mood.
[Spending the night in Her Majesty’s room always makes His Majesty happy and smiley in the morning. Yes, that’s it. I’ll report it first thing in the morning tomorrow when His Majesty is surely in a better mood.]
Alwin was beginning to learn Raymond’s ways.
{As you should. And since when did you have a table in my wife’s study? I believe I assigned you to guard Arabella, not loiter in her office and sit comfortably beside her.} Ferdinand glared at Alwin.
It wasn’t beside Arabella though. There was ample space between Arabella’s table and chair from Alwin’s.
Alwin bowed his head and apologized since Ferdinand was giving off a dark aura. He was on a jealous streak because Chester provoked him earlier. Now, he was venting out it on poor Alwin.
[He was with my wife this whole time while I was in that nasty meeting. And he had been sitting so close to her. He had the chance to look at her all day too while I was so busy.]
’My dear husband, you were the one who assigned him to me,’ Arabella wanted to say but didn’t dare.
She felt bad for Alwin who looked like he kept shrinking to make himself seem harmless as possible.
Her husband becomes unreasonable at times. But she understood since what he heard from Chester was indeed infuriating.
If another woman told her she had a date with Ferdinand and even dares to hint at taking him, she would be furious too and be moody as well.
"Ferdinand," Arabella said in a sweet voice to get her husband’s attention. It was effective.
"Yes, My Love?" Ferdinand stopped glaring at Alwin, and his eyes instantly softened when he was looking at her.
Alwin was rather amazed at the instant change in demeanor despite seeing it several times already.
"I allowed him to have a table here just this afternoon since it would be more productive. He can do some of his work while guarding me," Arabella explained.
Alwin was thinking about all the work he had to do after his shift to guard Arabella was over.
As the master of the Magic Tower, Alwin oversaw everything related to magic in Valeria. Thus, he also had a lot of work on his hands.
Arabella felt bad for delaying him from doing his work so she told him that he can make a table for himself and do some of his work instead of just standing by the door or a few steps behind her for hours.
There’s no possible danger inside the mansion anyway, except for Renee. Arabella was the one who insisted until Alwin agreed.
But Ferdinand’s eyes instantly darkened when Arabella explained.
[She’s covering up for him again. Why does she always do this? She cares so much for Alwin all the time.]
’No. That wasn’t it. I was just stating a fact since I was indeed the one who suggested it. And
what does he mean by always?’
"Oh, is that so? But how could he focus on guarding you when he’s doing something else?" Ferdinand didn’t like it.
"There’s no danger in the mansion so it should be fine," Arabella didn’t see what was wrong with it.
[Does that mean he could stay here all day with my wife if she doesn’t go out? While me, I must work away from her?] Ferdinand made a very conflicted expression.
’Oh, so that was it.’
She realized Ferdinand simply didn’t like Alwin being so close to her. He only assigned Alwin as her guard and told him to keep a close watch on her out of necessity since he didn’t want her to be vulnerable when he was not around. But he still didn’t like Alwin being so close to her and able to have more time with her than he does.
"He can do all that work later. His work is to guard you when I’m not by your side. His other responsibilities come second," Ferdinand reiterated with another glare at Alwin.
"Right. Of course," Arabella could no longer contradict since her husband might get even more irritated. If she clashed with him because of Alwin, Ferdinand would interpret it as something else again. He’s still such an overthinker.
’Sorry, Alwin.’
"You are dismissed. Go do all those somewhere else," Ferdinand then made Alwin leave them alone.
"Understood. My apologies for not knowing my priorities," Alwin made his table and chair vanish along with all his work on it. He bowed at them both and teleported elsewhere before Ferdinand changes his mind and scolds him more.
"Ferdinand, would you like to have some tea with me?" Arabella invited. She needed to soothe her husband first until his nerves calm down. Some Ofelia tea would probably do the trick.
"NO," Ferdinand frowned.
Arabella was wide-eyed at such a strong rejection. This was the first time he rejected having tea with her in such a tone and voice.
’He is that pissed? Did Chester say something else to him? Or is he angry at me because I allowed Alwin to have a table here?’
"Dear? Are you angry at me?" Arabella decided to ask.
"No. Definitely not," Ferdinand was wide-eyed when he realized he had spoken too roughly which was why Arabella thought his anger was directed at her. "My apologies. I, I just wanted something else."
"What is it th–"
Before she was done speaking, Ferdinand’s lips were on hers. He cupped her face and wrapped an arm around her waist, pressing her to his body.
[Yes, this is what I want. So much better than tea. More effective too.]
’Ah, no wonder he made Alwin leave first. But will he really calm down with this? Wouldn’t he get agitated in another way?’
But an aroused Ferdinand was so much better than the angry one.
Her husband’s kiss was filled with intensity and need even though they haven’t begun a deep kiss yet.

A/N:
I will keep writing Evania’s name as Renee in the meantime unless she was being talked about as Evania. I will write her name as Evania once her identity was known to her, herself.

It was so cold, windy, and rainy today. I had to schedule this update just in case there was a power outage.
