In her past life, when Arabella blamed everything on Ferdinand and tried to make him lose power and kill him, it took so long since that was how hard it was to try harming a royal.

It wasn’t as easy as it looks since security was very tight. And she had only succeeded since her husband allowed her to do so despite knowing what she was already doing.

Of course, Chester and Fatima would be a different case since they were unlike Ferdinand and his cohorts whose senses were simply too enhanced.

But Chester was also trained in fighting. And Fatima was surely followed by knights wherever she went as well.

It would be difficult for Renee to sneak in as a maid in the palace since Chester and Fatima had already seen her face. She had to do it covertly.

’Was this why she needed Marcus?’ Arabella gulped.

Marcus was a magician, so Renee could have made a deal with him to be able to make progress with her revenge plans.

But Marcus easily abandoned Renee so he must have had other plans as well.

"Your Majesty believed everything she told you?" Alwin tried to not sound offensive or disrespectful.

"Yes. She didn’t look like she was lying. Those weren’t the eyes and expressions of someone who’s lying," Arabella clarified. "Or do you think she lied?"

Alwin sighed deeply before speaking.

"It’s complicated. She didn’t lie, since she didn’t know what she said was a lie. And everything that she said was about her life as Evelyn was probably indeed her experiences. But it wasn’t completely the truth as well."

"What do you mean? What part was truth and what was not?" Arabella was sure Alwin knew about something she didn’t.

"She did not reincarnate. But it was true she had lived as Queen Evelyn, as another sickly girl who died early, and now as Lady Renee," Alwin clarified.

[I haven’t even told His Majesty about this. Would he get angry if I told his wife first?]

"Then, what’s going on? How could she have lived two other lives before this?" Arabella got confused again. It wasn’t reincarnation, then what was it?

[I guess, since it had come to this, I must warn her before she ends up getting fooled by that maid again. She seems to sympathize with the maid. She could be easily swayed by emotion. If pitiful people keep approaching her, would she pity and help them all?]

’I’m not that kind either, Alwin. I’m just doing this for my own safety. If Renee went crazy and decides to do something extreme, I might be exposed to danger too.’

"She simply moved from one body to another. She thought she had reincarnated but she was different. Renee, or rather the one inside her, is not human. So please be careful and wary of her, Your Majesty," Alwin revealed.

"She’s not human?!"

This was beyond shocking. Renee was not human this entire time? Arabella felt like her head might explode from all these revelations in a single day.

"Yes. She’s among the long-lived races. She seems to have lost her memories of her original self and had mistaken the late Queen Evelyn of Zygos to be her first life."

[It took me so long in the past life to know about this. But since I already know, I only had to have my limiters lifted to have it verified. I once thought she occupied the maid’s body to fool Her Majesty. But it was all a coincidence she occupied it and became Her Majesty’s maid.]

"That can happen?! How come? And how did you know about this? Did you investigate Renee more deeply?" Arabella had a lot more questions for Alwin.

[This should be how she is. How come she’s often so calm about everything and wasn’t so surprised.]

"Yes, Your Majesty. I did a thorough digging about her. I sensed something was weird about her and thought I should investigate her a bit more carefully. I took my time and finally verified it once my limiters were lifted," Alwin used half-truths since he could not tell her he learned about it from his past life.

"I cannot go into details since I haven’t had the chance to report this to His Majesty yet. But it’s true that your maid was occupied by someone else. The real Renee was already dead. The one inside her continued living in her body right after the original soul left it."

"That’s possible?"

"Yes, for her kind. They can occupy one body to another. But they also have their own set of rules."

’Right. A different kind has a different set of rules. Just like Blanca and Esmeralda.’

"Then, how did she lose her memories?" Arabella probed for more so she could understand what was truly going on.

"Losing memories was a consequence of something she did. She escaped from her original abode without permission, and it resulted in this. Her real body was still where it should be. But her soul was able to leave without all her memories of where she came from. Her soul then occupied Queen Evelyn’s body and mistook the memories of the latter as hers. She suffered someone else’s fate because she runaway from hers."

Alwin explained that when Evelyn’s body died, Renee’s soul was forced out and occupied the body of a dying girl nearby. She unconsciously extended the girl’s life until she was almost ten years old. But the body of the girl was past its limits. Thus, the girl still died, and she had to leave the body.

"W-wait. So, people can escape Estrella without permission but only their souls could leave?" Arabella noticed this since it was relevant to her.

"It wasn’t Estrella. I guess His Majesty only told you about Estrella since it was where we live. But there is another continent where long-lived races thrive. I heard it had been separated a long, long time ago to maintain peace among the long-lived races. It was occupied by the races that lived in a different manner compared to us in Estrella. They have their own rules and so does Estrella."
