Chapter 276: Abolishment of Slavery in Eliora

With the agreement with Julia and Beth done, Arabella returned to the mansion and reported what transpired to her husband. He was waiting by the door ever since he sensed them returning.

After it was verified that Lucille was the plotter and main culprit for what happened, Ferdinand wanted to catch Lucille immediately.

But Ferdinand also held back since King Neville was still the Head of the Council and the current representative of Medeus. He decided to wait since King Neville would step down once this Assembly was over.

After all, even if they get Lucille now, they wouldn’t be able to punish her as they wanted once King Neville pleads for her.

Thus, they had to wait until the Assembly was over.

Further, if Lucille was related to the production and distribution of the drugs added to Andrew’s drink, even her father would not be able to protect her.

Arabella and Ferdinand then focused on having the drug investigated first and observing Lucille to see her next steps.

Lahar had agreed to this as well since the punishment would be heavier if they find that Lucille was involved in drugs.

Andrew was also pissed after all, since if he had lost his mind due to the drug, he could have accidentally cheated on Sera.

Arabella’s parents and her brother Benjamin were also angry when they learned about what happened.

They wanted to speak with King Neville right away to demand a punishment but Arabella did her best to calm them down. They thankfully did since they understood that King Neville was a wise man even if his daughter was doing things like this.

"Sometimes, I really just want to keep you in my pocket," Ferdinand said as he embraced her.

[Thankfully she didn’t get hurt this time since she understood what was going on immediately. But if they were a second late from hiding in the balcony, she would have been misunderstood by the ladies who went to that room. Negative rumors would circulate about her again when she’s not even doing anything wrong.]

Ferdinand was still feeling bad because of the rumors about Arabella in Riva so he loathed the idea of more negative rumors spreading about her.

Raymond had already reported though that the rumors were dying down after he announced Clarisse’s pregnancy.

Arabella’s assistants were a major help too, they and their families were clarifying things about the affair and harem rumors. After all, some of her assistants were already engaged.

Ferdinand still felt bad though since the rumors spread in his own territory. Thus, he didn’t want Arabella to get more bad rumors about her.

Just as Arabella did not want more negative rumors to spread about Ferdinand, he felt the same for her.

"I won’t fit in your pocket though," Arabella joked and her husband finally smiled. The frown on his face was finally gone.

"You would if I’m in my dragon form. But I won’t have a pocket then."

[Ah, but I can just make one out of magic. If she rides on my back, she might fall off. She’s too light after all. It’d be better to carry her in a front pocket where I can see her all the time and ensure she’s safe.]

’My goodness, he’s seriously considering it.’

She does agree though that a front pocket might be safer for her than riding on his back. If she was on his back, the wind might just blow her away if he flew high and fast.

"Haha, just how huge are you when you are in dragon form?" Arabella asked and Ferdinand changed the topic to the work that came from Riva. He didn’t want to tell her yet how huge was his dragon form exactly.

Arabella then decided to help Ferdinand with his work since she was done with hers.

More work always came for her husband since as the Emperor, he always had documents he had to sign himself.

Due to all the work, they didn’t have much time to just speak with each other. Even their intimate time was lessened but they still managed to enjoy some naughty time before sleeping.

The following day, Julia and Beth reported that Lucille was furious that her plan failed so she was planning on what to do next.

Arabella patiently waited to see just how much Lucille’s inferiority complex and envy would do.

Meanwhile, using her ability, Arabella busied herself with gathering more information about the kingdoms in Eliora so she attended as many tea parties and banquets as she could.

The talks about slavery getting abolished were pushed through during the meetings. Valeria, Reverio, Lahar, Lobelius, Obrusca, Barlowe, and Loranne were all pro to the abolishment of slavery since they did not practice it in the first place.

Since they were the kingdoms who were pro to it, they tried convincing the others to approve the policy as well.

On Valeria’s part, it was Arabella who did the convincing part since Ferdinand couldn’t be bothered by it. He was more into intimidating than convincing.

And when the voting time finally came, most kingdoms in Eliora approved the policy compared to those who opposed it.

Thus, during this Assembly, the abolishment of slavery in all countries in Eliora was declared. King Neville succeeded in creating a legacy while he was the Head of the Council. It was a major and important feat.

Countries that heavily relied on slavery were given ten years at most to completely eradicate slavery in their nations. Reports from them would be received and discussed yearly during the Assembly to see that the number of slaves in their nations should be decreasing as the years go by until slavery no longer exists in Eliora.

It was a long-term and heavy goal but it was worth it.

This didn’t happen in Arabella’s former life since slavery still ran rampant in some kingdoms she visited ten years later.

But this time, Valeria’s willingness to go to war just to claim back their people emphasized how urgent and important this matter was.

It triggered Medeus, King Neville, and the Great Temple to push through with the policy after having Valeria as an example of a nation that heavily condemns slavery.

This also helped the other kingdoms to agree on the abolishment of slavery.

There were those who were against it since their kingdoms heavily depended on it and it was deeply rooted in their culture.

However, since the abolishment was approved by the majority of kingdoms in Eliora, all nations in the continent had to abide. Those who would not abide could be sanctioned and pressured by the Council.

This policy later on greatly helped in claiming back the people from Prudencia.

Arabella was rather grateful to King Neville for advocating this policy and pushing it through.

It’s also hard to breathe but I hope I can still sleep.

It seems having four jobs at a time is catching up with the exhaustion.
