Chapter 271: Sowing Discord
Chapter 271: Sowing Discord
Sera might be on her way here already. It would be bad if Sera misunderstood this so they had to leave quickly.
However, before Arabella and Rendell could get out of the door. . .
"This is the room with the displays, right? Shall we go in then?" someone said outside said.
It was one of the princesses and there were other voices with her. It was the princesses and other nobles ladies who were in the Grand Palace for the Assembly.
Arabella could hear their thoughts and they were excited about seeing a display of the latest pieces of jewelry from the most famous shops in Medeus.
’Did someone relay them to the wrong room so that Andrew and I would be seen together in this room prepared for a date? And while Andrew is had drank an aphrodisiac?’
Arabella looked for another exit but there was none. The ladies were already near the door judging from their voices.
’I shouldn’t be seen here.’
"The balcony! Rendell, let’s hide on the balcony," Arabella found the temporary solution to her problem.
"Prince Andrew, please pretend you are alone," she said and had Andrew close the door and curtains of the balcony so Arabella and Rendell would not be seen.
The ladies entered the room and Andrew told the ladies they got the wrong room. However, before the ladies could leave, someone else arrived.
Arabella and Rendell glanced at each other when they heard a greeting for the Emperor. There was no other Emperor in Eliora aside from Ferdinand.
[This room, it’s certainly for a romantic meeting. Where is my wife? I can still smell her scent. She was just here. No, she’s still here. Her presence is...]
Ferdinand easily discovered that Arabella and Rendell were hiding on the balcony. He didn’t even need to look. He could tell through their scent and presence.
’Why is he here? He was supposed to be on the way back to our accommodation after a meeting with the other older kings.’
But before Arabella could think more about it, Sera arrived shortly after as well and was confused about what was going on.
Sera had dressed up for a date with Andrew but she arrived here and there were a lot of ladies in the room. Sera could have still misunderstood it as something else if Ferdinand wasn’t there.
’What the hell, so this was set up so Ferdinand and Sera would think Andrew and I met up?!’ Arabella understood now. The ladies were indeed told to come here so they serve as witnesses.
If Ferdinand and Sera had arrived at Arabella and Andrew together in a room like this with Andrew having an erection, the two could easily misunderstand it.
Sera was emotional since she was pregnant so she might blow up and cry. This was supposed to be her date with her husband after all. It would be shocking to see her husband with another woman looking all flushed and somewhat ready to do something. Things would be easily misunderstood.
Ferdinand would likely be furious as well and probably carry Arabella out of this room or just drag her with him. Probably the former.
"Why is the balcony door closed? If Your Highnesses are on a date, the view from the balcony is really good. I shall open it for you," the maid who just arrived with a new bottle of wine noticed the balcony.
’Is it just a coincidence or she knew we are hiding here?’
Arabella rubbed her ring thrice while Rendell held the door of the balcony so it wouldn’t be opened. But they would still be seen if the curtains were drawn.
"Your Ma-" Alwin arrived and was about to ask why she summoned him but Arabella covered his mouth.
"Teleport us back to the mansion this instant," Arabella whispered in urgency.
Alwin glanced inside and his eyes glowed as he used magic to see through everything.
[Why is she hiding here with Rendell? His Majesty is inside. And why is that Prince there as well? I thought her tea party was with the wife. Huh? This room is...]
Alwin was confused since the room was filled with flowers and there were heart shapes everywhere.
[I didn’t notice since I just monitored her presence from a good distance. I thought she ended everything with this man. What is this? Don’t tell me she was actually on a secret tryst with her former lover?! Why is Rendell allowing it?]
And there goes someone misunderstanding things.
"Alwin, quickly," Arabella urged since the maid was already walking to the door leading to the balcony.
Thankfully, Alwin teleported them back to the mansion despite his doubts and suspicions.
"That was close," Arabella sighed in relief. She was about to explain to Alwin what was going on but he vanished again and reappeared with Ferdinand.
Her husband apparently summoned him.
"Why were you two hiding on the balcony?" Ferdinand asked this time.
Ferdinand apparently left after saying he was led to the wrong room as well just like the ladies.
[That prince’s scent is on her! I thought I don’t have to worry about him anymore. What’s going on?]
"Ferdinand, please don’t misunderstand. I think we were set up. Someone out there is sowing discord to create a misunderstanding among us," Arabella had to explain from the beginning.
Thankfully, Rendell was there with her and had entered early on so he vouched for her.
"Alwin, go get that maid. She seemed suspicious. Something was off about her," Ferdinand instructed and Arabella sighed in relief.
Thankfully, Ferdinand and Alwin believed her. Especially since they were listening when Arabella and Andrew clearly ended everything about their past.
They were both clearly speaking honestly during their conversation so even Alwin who was wary of Arabella easily got convinced.
"Earlier, I received this letter from a maid while I was about to go back here. She said you dropped this letter. Uhm, it was already opened so I took the liberties and read it. My apologies."
Ferdinand showed her a letter and Arabella wanted to crumple it after reading its content.
