Chapter 254: A Poisonous Snake Born of Envy

Arabella once thought that Lucille was the most mature among them, but apparently not.

As requested by Rendell, Julia called for the one in charge of security. It was the Vice-Commander of their Knights. Rendell had a conversation with the Vice-Commander using a magic tool to prevent their talk from being heard and revealing the security layout.

When Rendell and the Vice-Commander shook hands, it was clear the conversation went well. Rendell then agreed for Arabella to attend.

In matters related to her safety, as her personal guard assigned by Ferdinand, Rendell was allowed to decide things for her to ensure her safety. Once Rendell believes her security was in jeopardy, he was allowed break in and take her to safety even in the midst of the Assembly.

Those were rules Ferdinand had reiterated before they departed for Medeus.

If Ferdinand wasn’t with her to ensure her safety himself; Rendell, Alwin, and Riley may decide on what to do in case there was danger.

Having so many princesses gathered here just raised the risks.

"Next time, please do not tell others about our private meetings. My husband worries a lot so I can’t suddenly attend a gathering with this many people without earlier preparation. I believe it’s also uncomfortable for the host," Arabella told Lucille.

"Yes, of course. My apologies. My tongue slipped due to excitement," Lucille gave a fake smile.

[This bitch. She’s so full of herself already. If not for her marriage, our Kingdom would still be more powerful than Lobelius. She wouldn’t chastise me like this as well.]

’Who would have thought she badmouths me like this in her mind?’ Arabella internally sighed. This woman was one of her old wounds.

In her past life when she teleported here and there with Dimo, she encountered Lucille in a restaurant for nobles.

Arabella and Dimo were in the room beside Lucille’s and the latter was spouting all sorts of lies and nonsense about her ever since they had been friends when they were young. So many years had passed by then and yet Lucille was saying such things to other nobles.

She heard even more when the nobles left and Lucille only spoke to her maids. The reason why Lucille was spouting such things was revealed.

It was then that Arabella learned Lucille was a poisonous snake. Lucille had been spreading such lies about Arabella since they were young. No wonder there were nobles who snickered behind her back the times she was in Medeus when she was still a princess.

Lucille was insecure and envious about Arabella and everyone else in all sorts of ways. Appearance, elegance, image, communication skills, suitors, and most especially, Andrew.

Lucille compared herself to Arabella in everything that she could and could not do. Lucille ensured that she was good at the things Arabella wasn’t so she could feel a sense of accomplishment and entitlement once Arabella could not do it.

And Lucille apparently like Andrew. Lucille thought that Andrew liked her first before Arabella. And Lucille fully believed that Arabella seduced Andrew so he went to her, of course, since she was more beautiful than her.

But Arabella knew that Andrew did not even have the least bit of a crush on Lucille. She knew Andrew’s exes and other girls he tried to chase before they dated but Lucille was never once in his sights.

Yet, all those times, Lucille mistook that Andrew’s gazes had always been directed at her and, not at Arabella.

It was probably because once they meet in Medeus they were often together. So when Andrew was trying to get Arabella’s attention, Lucille thought it was for her. But Andrew was already sending flowers and love letters to Arabella then.

Thus, when Arabella announced she was dating Andrew, Lucille was apparently furious at that time since she thought Arabella had stolen a man from her just to prove she was the most desirable among their group.

Lucille saw Arabella as a seductress who tried to seduce so many men which was why they were pursuing her.

But Arabella didn’t even know how to seduce back then. Her suitors just came on their own and she didn’t even know why so many men were asking for her hand.

Even her relationship with Andrew was innocent and Andrew let her be even if he was experienced.

And when they broke up due to Arabella’s engagement with Ferdinand, Lucille was elated and thought her chance had finally come to be with Andrew.

Lucille sent consoling messages to Arabella and said, maybe her marriage would work out just fine and so on. Who would have thought she simply said those since she wanted to date Andrew next?

But in the end, Andrew was married off to Sera so Lucille didn’t have a chance.

What hurt the most was when Lucille said that Arabella deserved to have her son die so early because she was a whore who didn’t deserve to be happy. She even said that Arabella’s son was likely a bastard of another man who fell prey to Arabella’s seduction. Lucille even laughed so loud.

Arabella didn’t mind being called a whore. At the time, she no longer cared about not getting happiness either.

But her son never deserved to die so early. And Fermin was not a bastard. He resembled Ferdinand so much and Ferdinand was the only man she ever slept with before she decided to get revenge after Fermin died.

She almost confronted Lucille but Dimo stopped since their presence was not supposed to be revealed to others.

Dimo set fire to Lucille’s clothes and the room they were in with a note made of fire not to badmouth the dead.

Lucille and her maids were able to get out quickly with the help of her knights but not without the embarrassment of getting seen naked and getting burn marks.

Thankfully, Arabella did not encounter Lucille again after that or else she would have had her killed if she said another mockery about her son.
